As you know, last month I was invited to the exclusive pre-launch event for the Benefit Brow Collection. (I blogged about it here.) This was one of my all time favourite blogger events as it meant getting to try all the items in the brand new Benefit Brow Collection well over a month before they hit the shops... Fast forward to last week and the collection arrived in stores and online and was as well received as expected - if not better! Having tried the whole collection in May, I'd been so excited for my own brow goodies to arrive because as mentioned in my previous post - I've never invested much time or thought in making the most of my brows, until this collection. When I used the products I was blown away with just how on fleek my eyebrows looked. So naturally when my goodies arrived, I was excited to give myself eyebrows Kara would be proud of - everyday.

This weekend marked a huge moment for me in the last few years. The day went by unmarked, it wasn't celebrated or talked about - because no-one else knew that this weekend was exactly one year since I stopped taking Fluoxitine. My history with depression isn't one I talk about online very often, in fact I've never blogged about it. It's not the sort of thing I hide, I think the stigma surrounding depression needs to be banished forever, but I also prefer to play those cards a little closer to my chest for practical reasons. Mostly being that one day my son will be able to read the things I write online. But my depression battle is one that will likely continue for the rest of my life.

When it comes to skincare products, some have a reputation that's hard to beat. For me, one skincare product I had heard so much about, was the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser. Everyone raves about this, and my best friend swears by it. However for some reason, it wasn't until we went to London for the day and she bought some, that I decided it was time for me to give it a go too. As the shop assistant stood chatting away to my bestie about how good the Hot Cloth Cleanser is, I was gradually going all heart-eye-emoji and swooning. I knew then and there I'd be trying some pronto. So when the lovely people at Liz Earle sent me some to try, I was more excited than a child in a toy shop.

Daniel Sandler can do no wrong in my eyes - who better to trust than a professional make-up artist with 25+ years experience? I've been heavily into make-up since I was old enough to wear it, but it's only as I'm getting older than my appreciation is growing for brands like Daniel Sandler. With an industry insider at the helm, someone who's learnt what works - and more importantly, what doesn't - means that you can have complete confidence in the products. It also means that you're ensured a very good thing when that little delivery comes through your door! My most recent Daniel Sandler delivery was the Radiant Glow compact and it didn't disappoint. In fact it positively shimmered... (see what I did there?!)

When it comes to make-up, in my eyes there isn't much that Stila can do wrong. Their products are some of my make-up bag staples and yet they continue to impress with their new releases. There's nothing better for me than a make-up brand who get it right time after time - retaining their old trusty lines, but also introducing new products that raise the bar higher and higher.

So when it comes to style and fashion, I'm very girlie. I'm more comfortable in pretty clothes, with a feminine flare than in something that's a bit hit-and-miss or something that's only going to be fashionable for a brief period of time. I like my clothes, shoes and accessories to be classic and elegant - timeless even. Obviously my wardrobe is still majorly impacted by current trends and I do give in and splurge on the latest shapes and patterns from time to time, but my overall style is more consistent. And that's what I look for in the brands that I class as staples in my wardrobe: timeless elegance, and pure class.

There are some brands out there that I wish I'd tried sooner. Some which grace my wish-list for far too long before I finally try them and fall head-over-heels, and wonder why I waited so long. I then usually float into a state of make-up euphoria, and make sure I tell everyone about them as well. After all, that's what you do when you're in love isn't it?! My latest make-up obsession, the one I wish I had tried years ago is KIKO Milano, because my first impressions of this brand and their gorgeous products have been so high I'm kicking myself for not picking up some of their goodies sooner.
