Looking for a new spring scent to mark the arrival of the new season? Here’s some great options to consider from Fragrance Direct for both him and her…
With the imminent arrival of spring and everyone looking for an excuse to smile, now could be the perfect moment to treat yourself to a new scent. With so much going on in the world at the moment there’s not a huge amount to smile about, so in true form it’s up to us all individually to chase the smiles and bring some extra happiness to our lives. And if you’re anything like me, the perfect scent can instantly change your mood. I can go from feeling meh, demotivated and all bleary to brighter and happier with a spritz of the right perfume.
Like anyone else, I’ve got a particular taste in fragrance and some really strong opinions on what I do and don’t like. This can sometimes make things hard when it comes to finding new scents but I’m not one to shy away from a challenge and I love trying all sorts of different ones. Something I always recommend is switching up your most used perfumes with the change of the seasons as some work better in winter, some in spring etc. So it gives you even more of an excuse to treat yourself to something beautifully scented and new this spring.
In the current climate regardless of how much we all deserve that ‘treat yo’self’ moment, we need to watch the pennies, right? Which means that Fragrance Direct is very clearly the best place to shop for fragrances for both him and her. They stock all the brands you’d find anywhere else but you’ll find them cheaper, and often with extra discounts like 10% off, or free next day delivery. Just check the homepage for details before you pick your scent. Suddenly a new scent never looked more appealing did it? So which ones should you check out…
If you’re looking for something different and a lesser-known brand to try then DSquared2 are well worth a look. I tried their first scents a few years ago and was really impressed with how unique they were. The new Wood fragrances come in several varieties: Red for her and Green for him. The 30ml eau de toilettes will cost you approximately £34.99, the 50ml around £46.99 and the 100ml around £59.99. So I’d say that’s pretty comparable with other designer scents.
Green Wood is going to offer the masculine scent lovers something different to the traditionally woody scents. It’s got that woody heart thanks to the cedarwood along with vetiver which creates the alluring elements we all know and love. But this one is mixed with lemon and it creates a freshness that reminds me of the outdoors so it blends this heavenly masculine scent with a fresh touch – something that means you can wear it for any occasion and still make an impact.
For the ladies there’s the Red Wood version and it too offers something a little different – a modern twist on an old classic as it blends a woody base with new top notes. Cranberry and pink pepper give the top notes something spicy and warm while the magnolia, rose and lychee notes create a floral scent level that you wouldn’t think would blend well with the wood – but it does. So suddenly a typical floral spring scent becomes musky as it blends both wood notes and floral notes together beautifully.
Emporio Armani You
What brand could be more iconic on your vanity table at any time of year than Armani? They’re one of my favourites for sexy, timeless and elegant scents for both him and her – which makes them a great choice for a seasonal switch-up as you know you can rely on them for a gorgeous scent you’ll reach for time and time again. I’d currently recommend the new additions to the YOU range. For her there’s In Love With You Freeze which in my opinion is one of the most perfect spring scents. It’s got notes of delicate peony which give it a floral and feminine side but it’s mixed with patchouli and white musk for the romantic side of the scent that makes it sexy and seductive. It’s supposed to be a lovers scent and you can pull that vibe from it when worn for sure, but it’s also a delicate floral with warm musk tones meaning it’s the best of both for spring. The eau de pafum 50ml is £59.99.
For him there’s the matching Stronger With You Freeze which compliments its female counterpart and gives a great spring scent option for men too. With a great woody heart it’s got the typical masculine base that you want in a male fragrance, but it’s also got that fresh side you’ll be looking for in something for spring thanks to its lime notes which make it seem like citrus and give it a vibrant sense. However unusually and in keeping with the romantic theme of the You range it’s also got a lavender note that develops the longer it’s on the skin, which makes it really alluring and adds to the delicate notes you find in the female version. The 50ml costs £44.99.
Moschino Toy 2
I tried the original Moschino Toy a few years ago now and the newer, updated Toy 2 has just landed and it’s even better than the original. Plus the bottle is pretty cute too right? Designed to look like a teddy bear it’s also the most lovely scent and one I reach for a lot right now. It’s got the perfect spring blend of floral notes thanks to the magnolia, peony and white currant tones which are like the trademarks for scent requirements, but it’s also got an amber wood and sandalwood heart with added musk to create a blend that even me, the musk-loving queen can enjoy. It brings the smile that floral tones can evoke but also keeps things seductive with it’s musk and heavier base notes. I love how this one sits on the skin hours after applying and reminds me of lazy Sunday mornings in bed. The 50ml will cost you £51.99.
The counterpart Toy Boy is a matching eau de parfum that also adds something a bit special to spring scents. It’s got a floral blend that you wouldn’t instinctively think would work for a male scent but it does. It’s got bergamot, pink berries, rose and magnolia alongside pear which makes it less feminine. With those masculine base notes of vetiver it creates a fresh, floral blend with a woody heart that makes it a great spring scent for him. The 50ml is available for £51.99.
So if you’re looking to update your spring scent wardrobe and want to consider something new, then hopefully something here will have caught your eye. The best thing for me about all of these is that they have matching pairs meaning you can compliment your partners scent of the season perfectly – which is what you want right now when you’re spending vast amounts of time in close contact with them!
