There’s plenty of spring beauty newness right now to treat yourself to if you need a pick-me-up while we all partake in self-isolation…
Looking for some light relief? Well then you’ve come to the right place! There’s no denying the world is a scary place right now but in the spirit of bringing you some new beauty news, I hope it will cheer you up to think about something other than toilet rolls and stockpiling bread and baked beans for as long as it takes you to read this post.
There’s actually been quite a lot of spring beauty newness recently in beauty – which is great news because who knows how far reaching Covid-19 will be on beauty launches? So let’s look at what’s new and noteworthy, what’s great for the season and what can even be a little treat if you’re needing a pick-me-up.
Benefit Georgia Powder Blush – £27
Use code LADYW20 for 20% off
Benefit lovers were sad when they discontinued their much-loved Georgia blush several years back. But it’s now excitingly come back, better than ever with a new tone and soft peachy shade that works perfectly for spring. Welcome back Georgia! It’s got a warmth to the shade that works especially well with pale skin tones and a subtle shimmer that instantly perks up the complexion. Added to the apples of the cheeks you look fresh, radiant and naturally luminous – I love it and reach for it frequently. It’s probably best on paler skin tones but it’s going to work with both cool and warm undertones really well, so it’s still quite versatile in that sense. The full size is £27 or you can buy a mini for £14.50 here. You can also get 20% off at Look Fantastic using code LADYW20 at the checkout. You’re welcome.
REN Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream – £36
Okay so I cheated a little bit with this one because it’s not new but newly repackaged. In actual fact the REN Clean Skincare Evercalm™ Global Protection Day Cream is over 20 years old and one of their best-selling products ever. Having used this before I can firsthand testify to how brilliant it is and if you’re looking for a new moisturiser to keep things soft and hydrated while we’re all stuck indoors then it’s one to pick up. Containing antioxidants and great for keeping the skin hydrated, it’s a great day-to-day moisturiser that will give your skin the nourishment it deserves. It also fights the way skin responds to pollution and as a result discourages a high level of moisture loss. It’s everything you’d want in your daily moisturiser and it’s now repackaged in recycled plastic that would have been left in landfill otherwise – very much the kind of forward thinking I love from REN as a brand.
Kili Liquid Bronzer – £24
Who doesn’t need some bronze adding to their skin right now? I know I certainly do! Without the added problems of the coronavirus, the spring weather seems to be slightly delayed in its arrival – which means I’m still reaching for bronzing products as much as I was in the winter to add some colour to my skin! New beauty brand Kili launched their Botanical Liquid Bronzer and I’ve been using it religiously since it arrived. It took me a couple of times to work out how it’s best used – it’s the most beautifully pigmented liquid bronzer that’s become the contour product I reach for daily. You need the smallest little pump to add a natural glow to your foundation or moisturiser, or used over the top and blended in to contour like I do, you’ll only need half a pump at most. Blend in with a brush and your whole complexion looks more healthy with a subtle glow. Of course if you want to go to the max, use a full pump and you’ll be amazed at how far it goes – it’s just that pigmented. A whole bottle will truly last you forever. Plus it’s got skincare properties like shea butter as an ingredient which helps nourish and soften and rosewater which is great for redness. It’s a staple for your spring and summer make up wardrobe.
No7 The Full 360 Ultra Mascara – £15
If you’re looking for a new mascara to try then No7 have a new one out that means you can flutter your lashes regardless of self isolation. A great mascara is an absolute essential to me as I feel a bit naked without my eyes done, so a good, thick coating black mascara is something I’m never without. The new one from No7 is called The Full 360 Ultra Mascara and is designed to lift, curl and add volume that’s subtle enough for everyday but enough to feel like your lashes never looked better. For me it’s the wand that gives me all the positive vibes – it’s got the proven hourglass shape that adds a real lift to lashes and coats them evenly at once. There’s no clumping with this either and it’s easily removed at the end of the day – no panda eyes to worry about.
Herbae Par L’Occitane L’eau Eau De Toilette – £52
The most perfect scent for spring if citrus is your thing, is the Herbae Par L’Occitane L’eau. It’s a beautiful and citrus based blend of floral notes that create the most ‘spring-like’ scent I’ve found this season. The scent has a softness that means it’s subtle and gentle yet it’s also quite long lasting and stays on the skin for many hours – evolving to become softer and even more beautifully gentle as the day goes on. With base notes including musk, you’ll be able to rely on it for scent-life as well as it’s lemon accords in the top notes ensuring your spring-scent really represents the season perfectly. It’s also got Marshmallow Absolute in the blend so it’s got a lovely sweetness as well – so even perfume lovers who prefer non-floral scents will still find something to love in this one. And like all L’Occitane fragrances it comes in the most elegant bottle so it will add a touch of spring joy to your vanity table. It almost like bringing the scent of the outdoors, in. But better.
Farsali Skin Tune Blur – £50
(Use Code LADYW20 for 20% off)
I’ve wanted to try the Farsali products for a really long time but as someone who goes for the matte look in her make up, they never seemed to cater for anyone who didn’t want to glow to a wet-look level. But then the Skin Tune Blur dropped and I snapped it up – finally Farsali have created serums to work for those who have oily skin and/or can’t use illuminating primers. This one acts by veiling the way skin imperfections look and blurring their appearance. It’s amazing when used underneath my make up and my foundation especially just goes on to a better and creates a even base. I love how it creates a canvas that blurs my blemishes and makes my foundation sit better and last longer. It’s also enriched with cucumber extract to keep my skin hydrated – as usually products of this nature will actually dry the skin by blocking pores, but this one combats anything blocking at all and keeps everything nicely balanced. For me this is the product I waited for from Farsali – and it was worth the wait.
So if you’re looking for some new spring beauty to treat yourself to this spring, these are my current top picks. Perfect for a pick-me-up, all of these have the potential to become your staple products for beauty this season.
