The time you have available for yourself each day may be short but these simple tips will help maximise it and encourage you to live well and look after yourself.
As busy women it’s quite often impossible to find more than a spare minute or two in the day. And that ‘spare’ minute usually isn’t actually free time, it’s used to go to the toilet in peace, away from toddlers who follow you everywhere, or spent catching up on essential housework. It seems that as a generation of busy women, we’ve lost the ability to make time for ourselves every day, and as a result we’re stressed, in need of TLC and frazzled. Anyone else?!
So when Very got in touch to challenge me to consider some simple ways in which I could make time for myself, it was a great opportunity to put it into practice and reap the rewards. Only by taking care of ourselves can we truly live well after all.
Very currently have a huge range of Beauty and well being options available which means that no matter how you relax or look after yourself, there’s a product to amplify that. And they offer a great range of price points too so that your budget doesn’t need to limit your ability to live well. For example one of my most simple recommendations for looking after yourself, living well and making time for yourself is to take an hour once a week for a pamper session or bubble bath. Which sounds like something people do all the time right? (Or so Instagram would have you think!) The reality is that by the time the evening comes around there’s still often much left to do on your list and getting some shut eye comes first. But the importance of taking a hot bath, a digital detox for the night and an indulgent pamper is going to feed your soul and help relax you. And something that’s so underrated is pure, uninterrupted time for yourself like this. I like to use things like hair masks when I have a pamper session and the Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food is a brilliant one that won’t break the bank. It’s a beautifully scented hair mask that’s rich in super foods and vegan friendly. If your hair needs TLC due to being brittle, over styled, dry or just suffering in the never-needing winter, then it’s a great product to reach for. Plus treating your hair as you pamper yourself will make you feel really good and your locks will thank you for it.
Speaking of masks, Very have a great range of face masks from Elemis which will give all skin types and concerns an option and help you live well. The Superfood Berry Boost Mask is a great way to start the day in much the same effort as you would with a smoothie. I’ve reviewed this range in full before and it’s so rich in super foods that it’s got all the benefits that a smoothie has for your body, but this time for your skin. Pop it on for 10/15 minutes in the morning while you have your breakfast, or during the day when you’re having a coffee break at home. It’s one of those lovely to use, easy to wash off masks that makes skincare quick, easy but most importantly, effective. Purifying the skin from all decongestants you’ll be left with soft, smooth and bright skin after each use – it’s an instant pick-me-up that will make you look and feel good.
Speaking of looking good, a real confidence boost for me is when I know my make up looks nice. That’s one a simple tip for women who love beauty as much as me: take the extra time where possible to put on your favourite make up and get ready for the day without rushing or feeling stressed. If I know I need the confidence boost in this way, I’ll sometimes set my alarm and get up earlier than normal (just 10 minutes or so) and use the time to really play with my make up for the day, which I love doing. The REN Clean Skincare Perfect Canvas Clean Primer is one of my daily staples that contributes to this because I apply after my moisturiser and it helps to create a smooth and even base for my make up. Using a primer that’s silicone free like this means it doesn’t work against your moisturiser so you can use both, which is rare and it makes skin look matte after use which if you have oily skin, you’ll know is so important. As someone who struggles with oil and keeping make up in place, this primer is brilliant for me and when my make up lasts longer, I feel happier!
So when it comes to living well, simply adding a few key products to your day and making the time to use them will ensure you feel a little nurtured and looked after amidst the chaos of every day life. Investing in yourself isn’t about the big gestures like spa days or holidays, it’s about these little every day things we do for ourselves to invest time in self care and put ourselves first. And Very have a huge range of products available right now to help you chase that self care motto and apply these simple ‘live well’ steps to your routine.
