Looking for a skin pick-me-up? It’s not as hard as you think to have a great skin month and overhaul your regime starting right now…
Currently it’s still January – which feels like it’s been 1,238,547 days long already. And the early months of the year are quite often the most common for a skincare overhaul as the rise of ‘New Year Resolutions’ and promises of better self care push us to embrace new habits and patterns. With wellbeing such a heavy focus in the early months of the new year, it’s a great time to really look at your skincare and decide where you want to adapt or overhaul it completely. But that said, if you’re reading this at any other time of year, it’s just as easy to start a fresh skincare regime no matter what day or month it is, especially if you’re heading through the airport and making a pit-stop at World Duty Free at any point.
So depending on what your skincare concern is, you may be looking to try a few new products within your existing regime or completely overhaul everything. Which is something I end up doing quite a lot. My skin is funny, it can react really well to something for months, even years and then one day just suddenly decide it no longer likes it. Which means redness, breakouts and the need for a replacement product asap.
So if you’re looking to try something new – whether one item or many – then now’s the time for a great skin month. The selection of products from World Duty Free is so vast that you’ll find everything possible to give you the regime you want and work towards skin that looks as good as possible. If you’re heading in-store then these are some of the great things to check out…
“Battle oily skin with clay-based cleansers or masks”
Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Daily Cleanser
If you struggle with oily skin then battle it with clay based cleansers or face masks. The Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Daily Cleanser is a lovely choice that will meet the need of your first skincare step and help combat oil secretion at the same time. Containing Amazonian White Clay this cleanser will remove everything clogging your pores – which in turns makes oil secretion worse. Clay is known for its extracting and detoxifying process as it draws out impurities so using it in your cleanser, which is the ‘cleaning’ step of your regime anyway, means that you’re giving your skin the most thorough cleanse possible. And because it’s from Kiehl’s you know it’s gentle enough to do so without irritation and will also be made with the nicest ingredients.
“A serum is an essential in your regime”
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair
One serum I highly recommend is the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair which is fantastic as one of the last steps in skincare and just so happens to come in an exclusive 100ml size at World Duty Free (meaning you can’t get that size anywhere else.) It’s something I started using last year and if you worry about the signs of ageing, if you have dry skin that needs more moisture or you just want to start using something a bit ‘stronger’ in your skincare, then this is a great single item to invest in. It works with your skins natural overnight recovery process to encourage it to restore better and it will always plump and smooth the appearance by morning. I notice my skin looks more even in tone and a little more radiant and ‘rested’ when I wake up after using this. I can’t use this when I’m going through breakouts as it seems to make them worse, but whenever my skin is less blemish prone it’s my go-to serum.
Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil
An alternate ‘serum’ step in your regime if you’re looking for something that’s a little more affordable would be the Clarins Blue Orchid Face Treatment Oil. With similar targets as the above, in that it works for those worried about the signs of ageing, it’s also especially good if your skin is dry or dehydrated. I’d recommend this for those in their 20’s or 30’s who are noticing the start of fine lines or have extra dry skin. Applied in the evenings before bed, after cleansing, but before your moisturiser, it should deliver the hydration needed that can be followed by a moisturiser for a double hydration whammy. And with duty free prices it’s only £28.30. Winner.
“I want my skincare to be as extra as possible.”
Omorovicza Oxygen Booster
If you’re looking for more, and I’m talking about “I want my skincare to be as extra as possible” then there’s a product that’s like the icing on the cake to your daily regime. The Omorovicza Oxygen Booster is an extra that’s designed to be a pure addition to your regime that will take you to the next level of skincare. Applied by adding one or two drops to your serum, it’s like a shot for the skin and it works by adding oxygen to the top layers in a concentrated way and the water-gel texture means it’s very easy to absorb. The idea is that it gives an instant visual radiance and by delivering oxygen alongside your serum properties then it should supercharge that stage of your skincare and intensify the results. While this isn’t a necessity, it’s a good way of ensuring you have a great skin month with one product.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder…and in your eye skincare.
ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Eye Trio Set
My eye’s are my skincare target right now. I started to notice fine lines a few years back, and significantly more last year (age 31.) Which made me really self conscious although no-one else noticed them. Made worse by a really bad eye problem that’s meant the skin has stretched and so lines look much more obvious and noticeable now, I hate the area and I’ve never felt more obviously my age. This means I’m constantly looking for eye care that’s gentle enough to not make the current issue worse, but also very high performance. So a great recommendation to tick both those boxes is the ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Eye Trio Set which is exclusive to World Duty Free. Containing a set of my favourite Hydra-Gel Eye Masks, these are the best way to reduce puffiness and smooth the whole under eye area. These masks brighten the darkness I have naturally there and make the area feel softer and more nurtured. The set also contains the Pro-Collagen Advanced Eye Treatment and matching Eye Renewal which are both fantastic for anti-ageing under eye skincare. I’ve not yet tried these but I’m about to dive in, so I’ll report back on my findings asap.
Skincare isn’t just for night time…
Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Cream
If you truly want a great skin month then you need to focus on day time care as well, and this means a reliable moisturiser. Personally I have to use one in the morning and a different one at night as I need my moisturiser to work differently at those times. During the day I need something hydrating that softens and also prepares my skin for make up, like a primer would do and the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Cream is the perfect example of a product that does this, or even the Vitamin Face Base. Both deliver nutrients to the skin which keep it nourished and hydrated throughout the day, but they also work with my make up rather than against it. (Some moisturisers don’t like being underneath a full face of make up.) I’ve never been able to find the right balance in one product before until I tried these and I’m pretty sure they’d work for all skin types too.
Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint Duo
Looking for lip care as well? Good, because your lips count and need as much TLC as every other part of your face! I love the Bobbi Brown Lip Tint’s and have spoken of them before but there’s a Travel Exclusive Duo from World Duty Free that gives you two great tints for only £38.75. One is a lovely pale pink that compliments my lip tone perfectly and the other has more of a coral base tone if you wan’t something stronger with more power. Both apply like a lip balm and nourish like one too, but they also deliver a hint of sheer coverage and creamy finish. Not quite a lipstick level of coverage but enough of a tint to add your chosen colour. They’re basically a perfect handbag essential for during the day. I’ve always got one in my bag so when I need to relieve dry lips, or add a quick but subtle coat of colour then these are always reliable.
So when it comes to having a great skin month it’s not as hard as it appears, right? You can overhaul your entire regime and treat it like a skin detox or you can add in a select few of these products to create an extra step or two in your routine. Sometimes it’s about replacing products completely, and sometimes it’s about adding more in as extras. For example a double cleanse is a great way of trying two cleansers and getting the benefits of both. And trying one moisturiser for morning and one for night time is another way too.
A fuller more thorough regime will always work best but only when it’s targeted. These goodies from World Duty Free are a good mix of versatile for all skin types and some are more concern targeted but as long as you’ve got the right mix in your regime it doesn’t matter which ones from this list make your bathroom shelfie, as long as some of them do.
Enjoy your great skin month!
