Which beauty products have I repurchased more than any others, ever? Well, let me show you…
As someone who buys a lot of beauty products, I am constantly switching up what I use daily. Some things I love for a while, some things I’m fickle about and some just don’t make the cut. But then there’s some – just a few actually – that I’m religious about rebuying and ensuring I never run out of. Those are the holy grails, the staples of my collection and the ones I know I can count on should anything happen and I suddenly had to live on a desert island forever – these would be the ones I’d snatch up quick before leaving.
So as a self-confessed beauty junkie, which products have made that cut and are quite frankly, the best and most reliable in my collection? Let me show you…
The Estee Lauder Double Wear has to be mentioned first up. As someone who likes her foundation with the fullest of full coverage, this is my most reached for foundation now. And while I can’t use it every single day because it’s SO thick that I need my skin to breathe a bit in between, I do usually have it on most days. Nothing else compares in terms of matte finish and full coverage and for me it’s just the best. I do also love the Armani, and it’s not quite as thick either, along with a select few others but just pitting them to the top spot, is this one. Physically proven by the sheer amount of repurchases I’ve made in the past 12 months alone. If full coverage is what you want then this needs to be on your list.
Next up is a product I just won’t ever be without, I use it every.single.day AND it’s one thing I never leave home without: Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder. My OG for keeping make up well and truly fixed in place, it stops oil peeping through, keeps things matte and powdered all day long and gives my makeup a MUCH longer life span. I’m talking about only getting 2 ish hours of make up wear before things go shiny combined with when I use this, it’s 8+… THAT’S how much of a difference it makes. And as someone with really oily skin, this means a lot. I can go all day through meetings, bad weather and food & drink and still it won’t budge. It’s the best in the biz.
Next up is a relatively new arrival in terms of how many repurchases I’ve made, but seeing as I’m on my third tub in 5 months, it’s coming out tops in the primer category. The Bobbi Brown Vitamin Face Base is the most nourishing and rich-feeling primer I’ve ever used – it’s the perfect mix between make up and skincare because it’s like a moisturiser that enriches the skin with vitamins and then dries down to create a flawless base to apply make up on. It’s the best of both worlds and it’s done for me what no other primer has done – moisturised and primed to a matte level that I’m satisfied with. I’ll keep rebuying this for a long, long time.
A drugstore purchase I make almost monthly is my Maybelline Anti-Age Eraser Concealer which is around £8.99 but often on offer. It’s the perfect textured concealer for the under eye and the areas where you apply the pale concealer of your contour (forehead, chin etc). It’s light creamy texture is full coverage enough to completely cover the dark under eyes and brighten the whole appearance instantly without sinking into fine lines at all. It spreads easily and doesn’t cake – I’ve got some other great products that I use in this area but this one is my every day, without fail under eye brightening product. I’ll never be without it.
Speaking of contouring, another product I’ve purchased countless times over the years is the Benefit Hoola which is the perfect bronzer for cool toned girls and boys. I loathe bronzer with shimmer in it as I need my bronzer to be matte because my oily skin makes my cheeks shine anyway so any product worn there has to be matte and controlled. Hoola is the perfect texture – light, powdery and easily blended plus it’s cool toned enough to not look muddy. AND not a hint of shimmer in sight – forever one product I’ll have in my stash even when I do try and use others sometimes too.
And last but not least is a hair care product that I’d never have believed I’d rebuy this many times. I don’t have thick hair and I don’t use any styling products on a day-to-day basis, it’s only for when I’m properly doing my hair usually. However the IGK Speechless Dry Oil Finishing Spray is amazing even if you have thin, fine hair like I do. Because it’s a spray I can spray on my hands, and it’s light and delicate enough to coat the strands of hair that create flyaways or ‘frizz’ and suddenly my hair is sleek without looking greasy. I’s been a whole new discovery for me. If you need something to create glossy locks without the horrible oily look, this will save you – perfect for holidays and combating humidity too.
These six products are never far from my hand and if I leave the house they’re all usually stuffed in my handbag because I can’t be without them all for long. These products not only make the cut for me, but they set the standard – and they’ve set it so high that others struggle to compare. While I’ll never stop searching for the ‘best’ full coverage foundation, or try new setting powders, these products are the faithful trusty ones I’ll come back to frequently. They’re fully Lady Writes approved.
