It’s finally time to unveil my Christmas Gift Guide: The Make Up Edit! One of my favourite posts of the whole year…
As a beauty lover there’s naturally some parts of beauty that I love the most and make up is up there as one of them. I love make up, always have, always will. So putting together my annual Christmas Gift Guide for make up picks that will knock the socks off your recipient, is always something I look forward to. And this year it’s a special one with some of the absolute best purchases you can make. I can guarantee that you’ll give an amazing gift with any one of these top picks – but I can’t guarantee that you won’t be adding them to your own wish-list at the same time.
Trinny London The Starter Stack – £89
You’ve likely already seen and heard about Trinny London, the make up brand founded by Trinny Woodall, but you may not have delved into it yet. The Starter Stack is the perfect place to begin if this is the case and features the famous ‘stack’ of potted products that form one cylinder shape when slotted together. This set features a collection of products to introduce you to the brand, whic includes the lovely BFF Cream which is a coverage-type products that’s got a dewy finish and also contains SPF30. It’s a great complexion base for everyday. The Starter Stack also comes with three products – and you get to pick the shades, which I think makes it one of the best types of gifts. You get to pick an Eye2Eye (cream eyeshadow) as well as a Lip2Cheek (lip and cheek colour) and a Lip Glow (a moisturising lipstick.) All shades are chosen by you and guided by their website to help find complimentary tones for your skin. I love the Maddie Lip Glow – it’s the most beautiful and subtle pink tone and the Star Eye2Eye is a great silver tone that would be great for party season as well. Safe to say I’m going to be experimenting with this brand a lot more next year.
Your Je Ne Sais Quoi Complexion Perfection Face Palette – £32
I adore IT Cosmetics and their beautiful Your Je Ne Sais Quoi Complexion Perfection Face Palette is a great gift idea for Christmas. Not only is it absolutely beautiful to look at *swoon* but it’s also really versatile and women of any age will be able to use and enjoy it. The palette itself contains four products to do the bulk of your complexion work – there’s a perfect matte bronzer, a blush, a highlighter and a pressed powder for setting the whole face in place. The blush, and pressed powder are both from the ‘Bye Bye Pore’s’ range which is designed to minimise the way pores look and appear, so your whole complexion looks smoother. I personally like the way the shades in this compact are great for women of all ages – not too much but just enough to give a good everyday look that can be built up and controlled – which is exactly what you need from good complexion products.
BeautyBlender Just Encase Blend & Defend Trio – £25
If you want major brownie points for your Christmas gifts this year then what could be better than make up and jewels? And this BeautyBlender Just Encase Set has both (kinda.) A gorgeous bright blue and limited edition Topaz Beauty Blender to start the new year with, alongside some of the Blendercleanser which cleans your sponges perfectly and brings them back to colourful life. You also then get a silicone case to store the BeautyBlender in so that when it’s in your make up bag it doesn’t get ruined – pretty nifty right? This trio is the perfect jewel themed way to give someone a practical beauty treat and a really lovely make up gift for Christmas.
Dear Dahlia Lip Paradise Intense Satin Lipstick – £28
For the lipstick lover in your life, they’ll love the new discovery I found in Dear Dahlia. These beautiful lipsticks look like they’ve steeped right out of Instagram as they’re just so aesthetically pleasing! All of the lipsticks are 100% vegan and infused with Dahlia Variabilis Flower Extract, which has proven Antioxidant properties to help protect the skin from damage and provide anti-aging benefits for healthy-looking skin. The creamy texture gives the most wonderful payoff, it’s got a perfect satin finish so it’s not matte but rich in texture and there’s absolutely no drying or flaking. There’s ten shades to pick from but shade 809 Kate has fast become a staple of mind in my handbag everyday.
Stila The Fourth Dimension Eye Shadow Set – £49
What Christmas would be complete without some serious sparkle? Personally if I don’t find something sparkly and from Stila under my tree then I’m likely to be a bit sad because their products are the ultimate in glittery goodness. The Stila The Fourth Dimension Liquid Eye Shadow Set is perfect for this year as your glitter-fix because it’s got two of the Glitter & Glow Eye Shadows (shades Opal Ice and Lilac Ice) which are the really highly pigmented glitter eyeshadows that everyone loves. There’s also two of the Shimmer & Glow Eyeshadows (shades Vivid Smoky Quartz and Vivid Labradorite) which are the more metallic finishes. Both are high performance eyeshadows that look amazing when worn and I have a huge collection of both. The glittery ones make up the most used glitter eyeshadows in my collection, and I can’t get enough of them. Considering these can be anywhere in the region of £20+ each, this set is great value as a gift or treat for yourself.
Tarte Tarteist Pro Glow & Blush Cheek Palette – £42
Tarte, Tarte, oh how I love thee. I couldn’t not include something from these guys who absolutely nail Christmas gift sets don’t they? This year if you want to give a Tarte gift that anyone and everyone can enjoy then the Tarteist Pro Glow & Blush Cheek Palette & Brush Set from QVC is a great place to start. This wardrobe set contains six products to help you get all of your contour steps covered easily with 4 blushes, one bronzer and one highlighter. The shades are versatile enough to work with all skin tones, and the palette offers everyday subtle but buildable coverage formulas so you’ll end up reaching for this far more than you expect. I’ve used Tarte for many years since before they launched in the UK and swear by their performance. I’m so thankful you can get them from QVC now as it used to cost me a fortune shipping orders over from America, but now it’s much easier and there’s a huge range of gifts available there now too.
IT Cosmetics Limited Edition IT Girl Beauty Book – £56
No Christmas Gift Guide would be complete without a comprehensive beauty set that features pretty much everything you need on the daily for your make up, right? And this year I couldn’t resist the IT Cosmetics Limited Edition IT Girl Beauty Book which is available exclusively through QVC. It’s your one-stop-shop for everyday make up. Opening out like a real book, there’s a huge Bye Bye Pores matte bronzer and pressed powder which will cover your contouring, as well as three shades of concealer which are great for hiding dark circles/blemishes etc. There’s also a huge Radiance Blush which has a beautiful coral undertone and shimmers beautifully in the light as well as nine eyeshadows, 3 lipsticks, an eyeliner and a brow cream. What else could you possibly need in your regime?! And because it’s all from IT Cosmetics you know the quality is going to be excellent so there’s nothing not to love. Ladies – snap them up before they sell out!
Urban Decay Naked Honey Palette – £42
Everyone loves a new eyeshadow palette at Christmas right? (Tell me it’s not just me!) But this season we’ve been blessed with so many amazing new launches and now it’s hard knowing which would be the best to go with as a gift. But I do think that the Urban Decay Naked Honey is a fabulous choice – not just because I’m a firm fan of the Naked palettes (I am) but because the tones in this palette are great for all seasons. Not just a ‘festive’ palette, you’ll be able to use this one come summer time too and it’s great for everyday looks as well as evenings out as well. Meaning that it’s a great all-rounder with a lot to offer. Some people shy away from gold eye looks but I’m all for them and they suit all occasions, so this one is absolutely one to ask Santa for.
Spectrum 10 Piece Pink Brush Set – £40
I’m a sucker for the sets of Spectrum brushes at Christmas, and this year we’ve been spoiled for choice thanks to the great Disney sets at Boots. However I think that the best set this year would be the oh-so practical Spectrum 10 Piece Pink Essential Brush Set which is £40 right now and you get Advantage Card points too. I like this set because it’s practical with brushes for pretty much everything you need in your make up application – powder and foundation brushes right through to eyes and brows. Everything you need in one set and it comes in this cute clear bag which you could reuse if you wanted to. It’s the sort of set that any beauty lover would be thrilled to open on Christmas morning.
Inika The Weekender – £69
If you’re buying a beauty gift for someone who is focused on clean beauty then Inika are a great brand to get behind, as all their products are vegan friendly and cruelty free. The Weekender Bag is perfect as a starting point, contained in the most luxe travel bag you’ll find all the daily essentials to get a lovely, healthy looking complexion. Worth over £100 it’s also a really cost effective way of trying the products – you get a foundation (multiple shades available) mascara, a lip pencil and a mineral bronzer and brush for application. It’s everything you need for subtle and barely there but beautiful make up every day. And it’s formulated to be gentle too. Winning.
So there we have it – the best of this year’s Christmas make up picks to help you shop better this festive season! I do apologise (not really) if your own Christmas wish-list has now increased in length after seeing this, but naturally that was bound to happen with this collection of beautiful treats.
Hopefully you’ve now got some gift inspiration and one of two things to ask Santa for yourself!
