Ever struggled with traditional false lashes? Then magnetic eyelashes and eyeliner are going to change the way you think about falsies and turn it all around for you. Bold claim right? But trust me, I have the proof…
I love the false lash look. I mean, I really love it. But I struggle with applying them myself despite years and years of trying to perfect the technique. I’ve watched countless tutorials, listened to multiple friends who’ve told me to “do it just like this” and I’d just about accepted that I wasn’t ever going to be able to have those big, fluffy, fan looking lashes that I like very often. I’ve previously resorted to having lash extensions quite a few times in desperation but they don’t do my natural lashes much good when I have them for long periods, so while that may be the answer for holidays and things like that, it certainly isn’t the answer for everyday.
Recently I started getting LVL to lift my natural lashes just a little in pure desperation to avoid having just straight, shapeless lashes all the time. And while it’s a very good procedure and my therapist is amazing, it was very much like my last resort at doing something, anything with my lashes seeing as I can’t apply normal strips very well and had pretty much given up.
However a recent beauty trend caught my eye. And I’m not ashamed to admit that at first I was sceptical. If you’ve seen the magnetic eyelashes and eyeliner things on Facebook then you’ll know what I’m talking about, but what intrigued me about Lola’s Lashes was that the reviews for theirs were impressive. Seriously impressive. Not just that either, but they’re a UK brand too which was nice to know and they offered more than one lash style on their website. So, I took the plunge and decided to give them a go – nothing to lose, after all as my lashes are pretty shapeless these days anyway!
I went for the Sapphire Magnetic Eyelashes and Eyeliner Kit which costs £45. The set contains the Sapphire style lashes which are a good, fluffy looking lash that’s in between barely there and all out glam as I wanted a style that would work for the day and night. It also contained the wonder magnetic eyeliner and some cleansing oil to remove the liner from the eyes after use. (You can buy the lashes alone for when you want a new pair, or a separate style too.)
All of the Lola’s Lashes are vegan friendly and cruelty free, they confirm to EU and US safety standards (which is something you need to be careful of when buying from those enticing looking Facebook ads from other brands) and they’re free of all the kinds of things you wouldn’t want near your eyes: parabens, alcohol and sulphates etc.
When mine arrived I was eager to try them and despite not being good at applying liquid eyeliner, I got stuck straight in. You apply a normal line of liner to your top lid and then wait 1-2 minutes before applying the lashes directly on top. The liner should still look ‘wet’ when you apply, you don’t want it to be fully dry – just a tip!
Normally I have to apply strip lashes with my tweezers to get the position right, even though my fingers feel more natural they just seem to get in the way. I was really pleased that these could be applied with my fingers, and the magnetism between the lashes and the liner was strong enough to gently guide the application. While there was no actual “snap” sound, it felt like they fell into a natural place together within seconds…IT BLEW MY MIND! I was in shock the first time, and moved on to the next eye where the same thing happened and I literally stared at the easiest lash system I’ve ever applied IN MY LIFE.
I don’t often rave about products like this or to this extent. But these lashes are insanely good. To the point where I’m still slightly in disbelief that they work so well and look so utterly gorgeous. Because they do: the Sapphire style is stunning on and perfect for day time and evening which is exactly what I wanted. The lashes add length and flutter to the outer sides that’s still natural on the inner corner. They’re everything I love about how falsies make my lashes look. And now thanks to my Lola’s Lashes Magnetic Eyelashes and Eyeliner I’ve got a system even I can use every day without fail.
Want to see them in the flesh and see just how good they are? I made a whole YouTube video on my channel showing my first impressions, application and finished look. So come and see for yourself tonight when it goes live! I even did the hairdryer test – blowing a full power hairdryer onto my face and the lashes didn’t move an inch. That’s how good they are!
With regards to how long they last, Lola’s Lashes say you should get up to 30 wears per pair, which is pretty good and makes the £40 totally justifiable. Length of wear for me has been all day without any problems – and that’s both while working, so not particularly active and also while out and about, walking to meetings etc. Whatever I’m doing, these lashes don’t budge until I want them to.
I do notice that the liner can sometimes catch a drop or two on my actual lashes when applying and sometimes you get a bit of residue on the magnets so I just use the cleansing oil in the kit to remove the liner with a cotton bud on my eyes and I gently use my finger to remove the traces from the lash band. It’s a quick job after each use to ensure the set stay in the best condition and last as long as possible. Because ultimately, I want these babies to last and last – I’m SO EXCITED at how well they work and that finally, even I, mrs-I-can’t-apply-fake-lashes has found her perfect false lash look with no mess, glue or stress.
The Lola’s Lashes Magnetic Eyelashes and Eyeliner are one product set that I’m truly excited by and if you struggle with normal lash systems too, you’ll love them.
