Nothings beats a musky perfume during the autumn months so I have handpicked four of the best for the season...
As a musky scent lover, autumn is my favourite time of year for switching up my daily fragrances. Even in the warmer months I go for a musk based perfume as it’s juts my preference – a good musky perfume lingers in the air and tends to have a strong and long lasting scent trace. But in the autumn more than ever it’s my opportunity to embrace the deep and strong musky scents again. Because even in the summer I sometimes feel the seasonal pull to lighter fragrances, so it’s nice to return to my musky roots come the autumn!
Having liked a strong scent for years, I’ve tried so many that I feel I’ve found some of the best along the way. And seeing as now is the time to try a great new scent I thought it might help you guys to know which ones I recommend the most.
All of my fragrances here come from Fragrance Direct – one of my favourite places to beauty shop because their prices are phenomenal. Don’t believe me? Check them out for yourself. Narciso Rodriguez For Her Eau de Toilette
The Narciso Rodriguez For Her Eau de Toilette has to be one of my favourite scents right now. I don’t know why I waited so long to try this because it’s so well known for it’s musky scent. The amber and woody notes within give it that seductive level of musk that I really like, there’s something almost sexy about it. It’s absolutely a feminine fragrance without being floral – which isn’t a type of scent I go for. It’s also got a sweetness to the fragrance that makes it alluring, it’s not an overpowering sweetness, a bit like baby powder, but it works with the amber so well at creating a scent that draws you in. It’s one that will get you a lot of compliments and it’s great for wearing liberally throughout the autumn months.
Paco Rabanne Pure XS For Her Eau de Parfum
I first tried this as my sister-in-law got it for Christmas and I fell in love with it, so I added it to my to-try list for this year. The Paco Rabanne Pure XS For Her Eau de Parfum is unlike any other perfume I’ve tried before and it’s one that goes on to the skin smelling of one type of fragrance and settles into something completely different. So it’s a fun perfume experience for sure! The vanilla notes in this give it the musky type of scent that sticks to the skin and keeps things smooth and warm and the ylang-ylang gives it an oriental and exotic edge which you wouldn’t think would work well together but it really does. There’s something delicious about this one and I think that comes from the popcorn notes – yes you read that right, popcorn! It reminds me of something baking, mixed with a beautiful perfume. Totally unique with a strong scent payoff.
Valentino Donna Eau de Parfum
I love the bottle of the Valentino Donna Eau de Parfum – it’s so girly and gorgeous so it certainly looks the part on my dressing table! There’s nothing prettier than a Valentino design and the fragrance of the Donna scent is just as lovely. I don’t know how they did it but somehow they’ve created a great musky level scent which also feels and smells light when worn. You wouldn’t think that was possible – but it is with this. With vanilla and patchouli notes, it has a very warm musk level to it from those two combined – it’s sweet and charming with a very Italian feel to it thanks to the way it works bergamot and iris notes into the scent too. More floral than some of the others, which is where I think the lightness comes from, but it’s got a strength and seductivity that I love. It’s the sort of perfume you’ll reach for a lot more than you expect.
Elie Saab Le Parfum In White Eau de Parfum
When I was looking for a wedding fragrance at the start of the year, this is one I considered then because it’s got something special about it. I love Elie Saab scents anyway but the In White Eau de Parfum has white musk and white jasmine notes which are two of my all time favourite layers to a scent. Jasmine especially creates a lovely and inviting layer to a fragrance that makes me always drawn to it, and combined with cassis it creates a floral note that swills lightly throughout. It settles on the skin lightly and develops after a few minutes when you get the full scent experience! Often picked by brides before their big day, it’s easy to see why because there’s something so romantic about this one. But don’t worry, you don’t have to be a bride to use it!
So those are my top 4 musky perfumes for mixing up your seasonal fragrance choices this autumn. Nothing beats a snuggly jumper that allows you to indulge in a cosy and inviting musky perfume as you enjoy the autumn sunshine and crisp air. If you want something sensual then these fragrance picks are the way to go. Shop the whole collection from Fragrance Direct.
