When it comes to planning a wedding, the morning of the big day is dedicated to those final steps before you walk down the aisle and become someone’s wife. These are the simple steps I recommend to ensure your wedding morning is absolutely perfect and something you’ll look back on with happiness forever…
As someone who really hated the whole planning part of getting married, I ended up having the most perfect day. Despite wedding planning really not being my thing (see why here on my YouTube video) I adored every moment of my big day and have the most perfect memories of the morning with my girls. Because of this I wanted to share some simple steps to ensure your wedding morning is absolutely perfect too…
Pick your best friends
This is the most special morning of your life. As a bride you’re going to want to giggle, enjoy the moment and be surrounded by people who uplift you. If there’s been any fall-outs then it’s best to avoid the people involved and stick to the friends who are happy, jovial and going to find this morning as special as you are. Pick your bridesmaids, close family and friends – but don’t overcrowd! We found that despite having a large Suite to get ready in, it can get very hot during hair and make up prep! So don’t get carried away inviting lots of people to join you or pay a visit. Plus, it will spoil the bridal reveal!
Pick some great music
This was something I didn’t think of – and we adhoc’d it on the day! We found the most fun 90’s playlist that played all of our old-school night out favourites and really got us in the mood. It was such a nice was to relax and I really wish I’d made my own playlist in advance, but Spotify saved the day.
Champagne is a must
I don’t recommend drinking a huge amount on your wedding morning – no matter how much of a hardcore drinker you are. For both me and my husband, we drank a little bit on the day but not a lot. We wanted to remember as much as possible. Plus, when you’ve paid for a wedding, you want the memories! However a few glasses of champagne throughout the morning was just perfect – it took the edge off the slight nerves I had of stacking it down the aisle (!) and just made everything relaxed and fun.
Snacks are also essential. Don’t eat lots as your tummy will be churning (even the most hardcore people get slight nerves on their wedding morning!) So get things that are easy to east: crisps, nuts, fruit etc. I don’t recommend a lot of sweets though – just a few Percy Pigs or chocolates!
Wear something special
I recommend shorts and cami style pjs for when you get ready. Having asked around from friends who were married already, everyone seemed to have different ideas on wedding morning attire. However, I can say with certainty that a cami top and shorts are the easiest to slip in and out of. In addition, a gorgeous robe over the top for dignity and for the photo’s. I was gifted the most beautiful Georgina Keeley robe which was decorated with my name and wedding date on. It was the prettiest blush pink and it will forever hold special memories for me – and I love wearing it now too.
Take lots of pictures
Even if you have a wonderful photographer on hand, make sure you still get lots of lovely pics. My bridesmaids were amazing for this, just snapping little details and capturing the moment. These candid moments might not make Facebook or become the next major profile picture, but they’ll transport you back to that exact moment every time you look at them.
So if you’re getting married, make sure you plan these few simple steps to ensure your wedding morning is absolutely perfect. It’s amazing how simple the recipe is, and the outcome is a moment you’ll remember forever.
