Looking for a little pay-day treat, but don’t know where to start? Or maybe you want a little Lady Writes inspiration on what’s worth the splurge. Well here’s my top six great products worth treating yourself to on pay day…
Having been on the hunt for the products for this post for quite a while, I’ve tried a fair few bits across the whole spectrum of beauty. I know what it’s like when you’re on a budget and factor in a little pocket money as your post-pay day spend to treat yourself, so I know you want something that’s good and worthwhile. Even more so if money is short. It’s gotta earn it’s purchase, right?
And likewise if you’re not as tight on money one month but just want something really good to enjoy, it’s not always easy finding out which goodies to add to your collection. So I hope I’ve been able to find something that will entice you and go on your pay day shopping list this month..
L’Occitane Almond Shower Shake – £19.50
I’m a sucker for a good in-shower product as it’s usually the only 5 minutes of peace I get each day. Meaning that if there’s something luxurious I can get my hands on to transport me to a mental place of paradise just for those few minutes, well, I’ll buy it happily. And the L’Occitane Almond Shower Shake is not only absolutely beautifully scented but also a little piece of shower indulgence every day. It’s a two-tone product with both almond milk and and almond oil that separates when not used and you just shake it up when you go to use it so that both mix together. The outcome is a uniquely nourishing milky formula that cleanses the skin while also nourishing it too. It rinses off easily and my skin always feels super soft when I’ve used it. Love the smell, how soft it makes my skin and it feels really refreshing when applied. I will 100% be rebuying on pay day myself too.
Omorovicza Peachy Micellar Cleansers – £35
Using Micellar Water is the first step in my skincare regime every day and when I saw the Omorovicza Peachy Micellar Cleansers I was intrigued and opened them right away. They are individual pads soaked in Micellar solution and lightly scented so they smell fresh and clean. One side of the pad has a bumpy, raised texture and it’s this side that I apply directly in circular motions and they very quickly remove all dirt, make up and daily build up. They buff everything away in a very gentle manner, it doesn’t feel remotely abrasive and it’s got a really refreshing sensation. I them usually follow with the plain side to just add a final touch of the solution. My skin feels really lovely after these, and I like them as opposed to water versions as they don’t dry my skin out. While they’re a pricey alternative to a traditional Micellar Water, they are really thorough, enjoyable to use and my skin has definitely noticed the difference since using them. These are the sort of products I totally recommend as a treat for pay day.
Huda Beauty Tantour – £26
I have been absolutely loving the Huda Beauty Tantour since it arrived too. I was in desperate need of my usual contour concealer and had already been looking for an alternative as my normal one is American and costs a small fortune to import to the UK. Unlike a normal concealer for contour, this is a cream in a pot and it has the softest more gentle texture. It almost feels like an oily or moisturiser when I apply it, which means it blends like an absolute dream. I apply with my fingers and buff with a brush for a subtle contour and if I want something more intense then I apply with a brush or sponge. I’ve got the lightest shade in the range ‘Fair’ and it’s perfect because it’s matte, cool toned for the perfect shadow and it offers complete application control. I think I’ve found my perfect contour, I just hope she brings out some cream/pale shades to brighten with as the other side of my daily contour!
Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup Melting Butter Cleanser – £29
I’m a huge Drunk Elephant fan so when I saw they had released a cleansing balm type product in the form of their Slaai Makeup Melting Butter Cleanser, I picked it up right away.
I’m a total sucker for cleansing balms these days and my trusty daily favourite was nearing it’s end so it made sense to try this. I’m going to do a full review on it, but there is a negative to this one – the smell. It’s not the best. However the product itself works really well and it’s absolutely fantastic at removing dead skin cells etc and I use it as my first cleanser (after the Omorovicza pads) and it’s a dream. It’s got a properly buttery texture that melts into skin and it washes away gently without irritation or dryness. It also comes with a small tube of Bamboo Booster which is a mixture of charcoal and bamboo that you can add to your butter and it will then work like an exfoliator as well. The recommended use time is weekly for this and overall I really rate this (minus the smell.)
Mugler Angel Eau Croisiere Eau de Toilette – £39
If you’re looking for a proper treat-yourself moment then a good perfume is going to be high on your list. I am a Mugler girl through-and-through, Alien is my trademark scent and one perfume I go back to time and time again. The new Angel Eau Croisiere is the limited edition summer twist on the fan-favourite, Angel original. And it’s an absolute beauty. It’s everything you’d want in a Mugler limited edition, it’s sensual with their normal level of musk that’s so seductive but this one has a fruity summer-evening edge to it. It reminds me of summer cocktails on the beach, which is probably thanks to the mango and blackcurrant sorbet edge it has within it combined with the musky patchouli that makes it the perfect feminine fragrance. The bottle itself is pretty beautiful too, it’s actually quite stunning and it’s overall a very worthy treat this pay day.
Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colour – £28
You can’t beat a new lippie as the perfect pay day treat, can you? And no matter how many you already have in your collection, there will always be space for another new one. Especially if it’s one of the Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colours. These are some of my favourite lipstick formulas and I’ve been really converted to Bobbi Brown lip products as a whole recently as they absolutely nail the perfect everyday hues. I picked up Pale Mauve which is a great everyday nude tone pink that really flatters my natural lip colour. It has a nice dimension to the finish and it doesn’t dry the lips. The colour is perfect for me, the finish is uber pretty and you’re going to feel like you’ve really treated yourself when you get anything from Bobbi Brown. So really, it’s the ideal pay day treat.
So there you have it – the top picks for your next pay day treat and why I think they’re a great choice. I am personally loving all of these goodies and can vouch for them fully. They’re all lovely products and worthy of your monthly treat. Let me know what’s catching your eye?
