What was new and note worthy during the month of May…
So May was a fun month – lots of press trips and events as well as some glorious sunshine that made it feel like summer was actually on the horizon. It was another busy month, but when isn’t there a busy month, hey?! And of course there were lots of exciting goodies through the door. So let’s take a looksie at which products were my May Favourites & New In Beauty picks
This little nifty tube of kitsch looking cuteness is a cool way of removing nail polish. Although not suitable for gel or shellac polishes, this will work perfectly on all your everyday favourite nail varnishes. It works like a cream to remove your polish and it’s completely acetone free. Which is amazing because who actually enjoys removing nail polish remover thanks to the potent smell?! Well now there’s this which smells *nice* and it doesn’t dry out your nails or fingertips. It’s stress-free, non drying and pretty easy to use. It’s a first in my book, but this cream nail polish remover actually works and I think it’s going to make the whole nail polish removal system work a lot better. Plus the packaging and name got me. It’s available in the UK from Beauty Mart.
I saw this and my inner cute-things lover got excited. I love anything that’s got sweet packaging and a fun theme and I love the way the Misslyn Cutie Pie Bronzing Blush is an amazing and affordable dupe for my favourite Too Faced version. This one is only £10.50 and it’s a bronzer, blusher and highlight all mixed together like a pie. And used with the matching Misslyn Powder Brush you can dust across the cheekbones for a healthy and natural glow. It’s also got a slimline design so it’s perfect for the handbag and great for holidays. Pretty and practical – just my kinda thing.
This month’s bargain beauty find would have to be the essence Shine Last & Go! Gel Nail Polishes. These babies are only £1.60 each from Wilko and they offer a really impressive high-shine finish for nails. Usually anything with an intense shine finish is found only in gel and shellac polishes, but these are normal polish versions with a gel-like shine. Plus they dry really fast so they’re great when you’re on the go or when you need a quick top-up. I also love that they’re vegan friendly too. For £1.60 each, I really don’t think you can beat these. I need to start building my collection immediately.
New in this month from Balanceme was their Hyaluronic Plumping Primer which is a whopping 99% natural – cool huh? As well as plumping the skin and softening the way fine lines appear, this contains an ingredient that’s been called the ‘natural alternative to Botox’ so you’re good to go if the signs of ageing are worrying you! It also mattifies the skin so if you’re feeling or looking oily, it’s a great way to combat the shine. If you’re worried about the signs of ageing and/or the way lines appear and you want some skincare in your make-up regime, then a formulated primer is a great way to go. Adding something like this will give you targeted skincare before applying your make up so you’ll feel a little more comfortable with the way the make up sits.
I’ve talked about this several times here on the blog but during May it was one of my most reached for products. The Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments are some of my favourite lip care products and I love the Orchid Tinted version because it fills my lips with a cute pink shade that’s pretty for the warmer days. It’s also got SPF 15 so I know my lips are looked after when I’m wearing this. As well as this, it fully nourishes the lips and stops them drying out. I’ve got this all lined up to take in my holiday beauty bag too. It’s a summer must-have.
Can’t beat a good body mist in the warmer months when you need a freshen up and quick. I love the Missguided range of body mists and Boy Tears has to be my current favourite. It’s sweet and sassy, pretty much like boy tears, ha! It’s got raspberry and peony to keep things feminine and a glorious layer of patchouli and amber for the sexy and sassy musk levels. It’s a huge 290ml bottle for only £10 too, so it’s the sort of size that’s great for your gym bag or keeping on your vanity when you need a quick spritz. There’s several scents in the range but this one has to be my favourite.
I hate washing my make up brushes, it’s long and laborious. I put it off for as long as I can and I know I should be more frequent with it, but the time it takes really puts me off. So when I got the Blank Canvas Solid Soap in the post during May I was seriously impressed at how much quicker it made the process. Not only was it quicker, but the level of clean was thorough and even my foundation brushes were clean in a couple of minutes. I love a good ‘hack’ and this seems to have shortened the amount of time involved in brush cleaning, so hopefully I’ll be motivated to do it more often!
So those are the bits that were new and noteworthy and my May Favourites, and I hope you’ve found something to add to June’s shopping list! Let me know in the comments what you’ve got your eye on.
