Whether it’s age, life stage or just plain lack of time – skincare can sometimes feel like a daily step that gets overlooked. So in the spirit of making sure your regime is thorough and hitting the mark, here’s five skincare products for people who love a simple regime…
I’ve always used multiple skincare products, and have had a very established appreciation for what a good skincare regime can do for you. However, that doesn’t always mean I’m Mrs Happy when it comes to physically partaking in it. Some days I’m knackered and standing over the sink for another 15 minutes or so applying products when I could be jumping straight into bed at the end of a long day is too much to resist. And some days I’m just plain lazy with it. Some days I think “oh, my skin doesn’t look too bad right now so it’s okay to miss a step (or three)”. So even as someone with a religious stance on skincare, I can fully understand how people fall out of the habit or just don’t want a lengthy regime as another thing to add to their daily list.
And while I’m very much over here waving the flag for a full regime packed of serums, creams, lotions and potions to really work the best for your skin type, I’m also aware that it’s important to look at alternatives. Whether that’s for the lazy days or just for those of you who want a simplified regime without sacrificing on the quality and outcome of your skincare choices. So here’s five products to help simplify you’re skincare regime immediately…
Struggle to get rid of the eye make up at the end of the day? The Gatineau Floracil Eye Make Up Remover makes light work of it. Just a small amount of this on a cotton pad and applied in circular motions will lift away all traces of make up. Including waterproof mascara – winner.
It’s also got the same pH balance as your tears and it contains calming chamomile, so it’s good for sensitive skin and it doesn’t dry or sting either. I have spent many a moment trying to rub away stubborn eye make up with cleansers to try and cut down on time in my regime. I’m pleased to report that this is quick to remove all traces and it’s thorough too. So I class eye make up remover as an essential step in my regime. No-one likes waking up to panda eyes because they’ve not been able to remove everything the night before, do they? And the Floracil makes it quick, easy and thorough.
A good cleanser is another step that shouldn’t be missed in skincare. And while you’re probably reading this if you want to simplify or streamline your regime, I can 100% say that cleansing is one of the most important steps that shouldn’t be missed. The Emma Hardie Moringa Light Cleansing Gel is a great one for doing the work of removing make up, pollutants and dead skin cells that build up. It’s effectively the way you clean your skin at the end of the day and remove all the bad things that have built up there in the previous hours.
A lovely gel to oil texture, 2-3 pumps of this applied all over the skin will work to dissolve everything in it’s path and make the nasties easily removed. Once you’ve rubbed the gel all over, applying water to remove it will carry them away. Containing Omega 6 and Vitamin E, it’s also really hydrating to the skin, which is key as you don’t want something that dries skin out at this stage in your regime. It’s also very lightweight thanks to the oil-like texture it turns in to, so it’s easily absorbed and applied. Another thorough product which works quickly and won’t take precious time out of your day, but still delivers on it’s promises.
I love IT Cosmetics, I first fell in love with them when I was in America years back and was so excited when they launched over here. Every time they come up with something new, I’m always intrigued as they seem to make the best multi-purpose products while also remaining a little bit fun. And beauty needs to be more fun. Their Miracle Water 3-in-1 Tonic is a fabulous product for those wanting a simplified regime because it does so many things in one.
Think of it as your toner-step in skincare because it works to balance and brighten the skin while also working on purifying it. As well as that it’s also a bit like a clever Micellar Water type-product because it attracts and traps dirt, make up traces etc. (So if you’re looking for something that could potentially replace a face make up remover, then maybe you could try this.) And finally, it’s also got anti-ageing properties within it, which plump fine lines and wrinkles and help them to look more subtle in appearance – so it’s pretty much a skincare wonder and perfect for those who want one product that does many things.
Face Masks may seem like an obvious skincare step to remove if you’re trying to save time and simplify your regime. However I don’t recommend cutting them out completely as a good face mask can work like a facial and give a serious hit of skin TLC. Something like the Alpha-H Clear Skin Blemish Control Mask is perfect if you suffer with breakouts because it’s a deep cleansing mask containing white clay. And as everyone knows, any type of clay-based face mask will draw out impurities from deep within the pores and work to purify the skin at a deeper level.
Great if you also have oily skin, this works to absorb excess sebum (oil) and replenish the pores without clogging them, which can lead to future break outs too. And it’s this that makes the skin look mattified after each use. Think soft, matte and healthy looking skin. Used once a week and you’re good to go. See, a face mask doesn’t need to be a lengthy step in your regime.
And finally, never skip on a good moisturiser, no matter how short on time you may be. A good moisturiser through the day will keep skin not only looking healthy but ensure it’s nourished too. (Thorough beauty and all that.) And using one overnight can aid the restorative levels of skin while you sleep. The Confidence in a Cream Rosy Tone Moisturiser from IT Cosmetics is a great one for round-the-clock moisture. It nourishes while stimulating cell renewal so skin works to be a better version of itself.
On top of this, its rosey tone is wonderful for adding a glow to dull or lifeless looking skin. It adds a glowy radiance that works well underneath make up, while keeping things still looking natural and subtle, so it’s great if you want a bit of life injecting back into the skin. This is a great one as a make up base in the mornings as well.
So there you have it, five products for people who love a simple regime. All great for doing a quick and thorough job or for doing more than one thing each – meaning you can streamline the amount of lotions and potions currently sitting on your bathroom shelf – without sacrificing on the quality of your regime. Ta-da.
