I always love how many new releases of spring perfumes there are at this time of year, but it can be hard to know which ones are worth spending out on…
I love spring perfumes and fragrance launches. It’s always such a nice time of year in beauty. The scents that get released always make me look forward to the warmer months even more than I already do, and it’s so nice to explore what kind of fragrances I can wear for the coming season.
There’s been some absolute beauties this year, too many for me to possibility write about in fact! Which is always a great place to be as someone who can fully appreciate a new beauty launch. But having so many new ones to try has meant I’ve been able to find some really stand-out scents that I think you’ll love and want to add to your perfume collection in time for the spring.
Maison Margiela Replica Under The Lemon Trees
If you’ve ever been to the Mediterranean on a holiday then you’ll like know of ‘that’ scent which takes you back there immediately. I remember going wine tasting once and noticing the heady musk, yet exotic fruity fragrance that filled the air, and I’d often find it in the marketplaces and when we’d go off exploring small villages. It’s the scent that you just know if you’ve been there – it’s all mingled with the heat in the air and it’s just so lovely to take in. And that’s why Replica Under The Lemon Trees brings back all the memories for me. It’s a beautiful lemon based scent which is so unusual, and that’s the main reason it’s one of my four pics for your spring fragrance wardrobe.
As well as the heavy hint of lemon, it’s also got a woody musk that reminds me of handmade baskets at the markets, and this is what makes the fragrance a nice perfume and something you can actually wear each day, rather than just a lovely scent. It’s quite unisex I’d say as well, something I’d really recommend that you try if you like your perfume to stand out and catch the attention as you walk by. It’s available from World Duty Free.
Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Midnight
As if I couldn’t love Flowerbomb anymore (I’ve written about it in it’s original state and in various twists before now) well they’ve only gone and released Flowerbomb Midnight – which may be my favourite yet. This eau de parfum is an intense version of the original with a seriously sensual twist. It’s like the sexy older sister to the original.
It’s still got that fruity edge that we associate with Flowerbomb but the jasmine in this one blends with it to create this unique mix that’s like a night and day contrast. The base notes of patchouli, praline and white musk give it a heady sensation that’s quite romantic and the floral tones from the bergamot, pink pepper and blackcurrant keep it very feminine. This one is going to be one of those great spring perfumes you use a lot on spring and summer evenings.
Azzaro Wanted Girl
I love the way the Azzaro Wanted Girl bottle matches the way this eau de parfum works. When you wear it, it’s like pulling the trigger and you get this explosion of scent that’s deep and strong while it just wraps itself around you. It’s quite a bold scent, so it’s one for the strong fragrance lovers like me, so if you’re looking for something to make a statement with – this is it.
I’m not usually one for orange in a perfume but this one just works, it’s contrasted perfectly by ginger so it’s like a sparkling orange zesty scent that has a beautiful base note of caramel that makes it stick to the skin in a sweet and seductive way. I like my perfume to stay in place and still be scent-worthy all day long, and you definitely get that level of fragrance and depth from Wanted Girl. It’s got a fun summery twist that’s a bit naughty but very addictive, which means it’s a way to stand out from the fragrance crowd this season.
L’Occitane Herbae par L’Occitane
If you’re looking for something that has SPRING written all over it, then it’s the Herbae par L’Occitane eau de parfum. This scent reminds me so much of open fields in the sunshine, with wildflowers growing and the sun shining down. To me that’s what I think of every time I smell this. It’s got a really fresh and outdoorsy kind of fragrance that’s quite uplifting – it’s great when you smell it for the first time in the mornings before work etc.
The pink peppercorn catches you first and then you’ll notice the wild rose and bramble elements which aren’t necessarily fruity, but are lovely and floral. Combined with the base notes of wild grass it’s one of those really lovely spring perfumes everyone can enjoy. And there’s just the perfect amount of musk in the base tones to make it feminine and girly. I think this one is quite a classy scent that makes you feel really sophisticated when worn.
So as I think you’ll see there’s some absolutely outstanding scents here that are perfect for mixing up your fragrance collection this season. Spring means it’s okay to try sweeter scents, and orange/lemon and zesty scents work well in the run up to summer too. Anything exotic is always a welcome addition at this time of year too.
When it comes to fragrance I like to wear something different, no-one likes to have the same spring perfumes as everyone else and these four are beautiful picks for making sure your selection is new and exciting for the coming months.
