February Favourites & New In Beauty

February Favourites & New In Beauty

Somehow I’ve blinked and gone from January to March. I don’t even seem to remember much from February in terms of time, maybe because January is 74 years long so anything that follows seems miles shorter by comparison. But somehow I’ve jumped to March like I’ve been in some sort of time warp, and apparently while I was at it, we also had a brief visit from spring-time in there too. But in the midst of the quickest month ever flying past, there’s been some great new beauty bits to chat about. So here’s my February Favourites & New In Beauty…

Dr Roebucks Skincare

This month I had some new bits in from Dr Roebucks. I’ve featured their products before (in my Definitive Summer Skincare Guide) and they have a really nice range of good all-rounders. Dr Roebucks skincare is all vegan friendly and cruelty free, plus completely free of things like parabens and chemicals so it’s nice and natural for the skin. It’s a good brand to acquaint yourself with if that’s what you like to look for in your beauty regime. A big hit for me as a face mask addict was the Icebergs Hydrating Mask which is great if you get dry skin. I’ve never had dry skin until recently, and only in small patches so I’m loving anything that hydrates. This has cucumber and aloe vera to soothe while moisturising and hydrating as well, so it leaves the skin with a nice softness afterwards too.

Revlon Color Charge Lip Powders

Okay so these have been sitting in my office for longer than I care to admit but I’ve had some extra time this month to try new make up and finally gave them a whirl – and I am SO impressed. I’m actually a bit gutted that these were limited edition because anything that works like this gets a massive thumbs up from me. Basically, you take a standard Revlon lipstick, I had the Ultra HD Matte Lipcolours as your first step – everyone loves a matte lip right? The idea then being that you take the Color Charge Powder Palettes (yes a lip powder) and apply it on top. It completely changes the look of the lipstick by giving it a metallic, dimensional finish. I’ve got two of the palettes, and 102 Peach Pucker is the prettiest for me as it’s got pink and gold shads which give the lips the perfect accent finish. I’m really impressed with these and how they work, I toyed with doing a YouTube video on them but seeing as you can only really find them on a few sits to buy now, I didn’t…but if these come back as a permanent fixture then I’ll definitely be doing a video for you. These are pure make up magic.

Emma Hardie Midas Touch Face Serum

I’m a huge fan of Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm, it’s such a great cleanser and brilliant at prepping for the rest of my skincare regime. So I thought it would be great to talk about a different range for a change. The Midas Touch collection is a great anti-ageing range with a little gem or two inside. The Face Serum for example, arrived this month and I was so surprised to find that alongside its anti-ageing properties, it can also be added be added to your foundation to give it a luminous glow. I’m really becoming more and more hooked on products that have a key purpose but can then also be used in other ways too – very much like this one can be. The serum itself intrigued me as it says it contains something called ‘Pseudo Collagen’ which is different to all my other standard collagen containing products. (What this actually means is that it’s a collagen – but not made of synthetic ‘original’ collagen. Basically: it is collagen, it looks like collagen, works like collagen…but it’s not actually made of collagen – which is quite nifty.) You still get all the benefits of increased hydration and elasticity which is encouraged while strengthening the skin. This is why the Midas Touch Face Serum is a fab one if you want an anti-ageing newbie in your skincare this month. Plus it actually works well for stressed skin as it can create a rested overall appearance too.

Emma Hardie Midas Touch Revitalising Cream

Another product in the range I think us millennials will love is the Midas Touch Revitalising Cream. This one is less intensely focused on anti-ageing, although it does act as a lifting treatment as it’s main focus – so it’s going to work well for the 30-somethings among us. It’s basically a huge boost of energy for the skin while working to fill the lines and plump with wonder-ingredient Hyaluronic Acid. It’s a good product to start with when you begin to think about anti-ageing skin care, but know that you still have other focuses too – like the need for hydration and a radiance boost. This is the type of product I recommend when you start to take your skincare seriously.

Sensse Silicone Facial Cleansing Brush

This one is a case of: Instagram made me do it. The Sensse Cleansing Brush is basically this smart little skincare aid that has the softest silicone bristles that gently work your daily cleanser into the skin at a deeper level which gives a better ‘clean’ of the skin. It works to buff away dead skin cells, make up and debris all while cleansing – and because it’s made of silicone it’s so soft and not even remotely abrasive. So even sensitive skin types can use it. Shaped to work with the contours on the face, it’s one of those tools that you don’t know you need – until you get it and then wish you’d tried it ages before.

RapidBrow Eyebrow Enhancing Serum

Okay this was like the most perfectly timed delivery ever last month. With my wedding coming up I’ve become really aware of certain features I struggle with – and one has been my thinning eyebrows. Back when I was a young whipper-snapper (like 10 years ago) super thin, over plucked eyebrows were the thing. That just what you did with your brows. Subsequently, mine went through monthly waxings and daily plucking and have never recovered…plus hormonal changes after 2 babies and well, they’re thin, patchy and basically a pain to look at. So I’d been wondering how I could fill them a bit more – when this arrived from RapidBrow themselves. I can’t wait to show you guys before and afters but suffice to say that natural enhancing serums like this are a great place to start if you want to avoid more permanent measures.

Rosie For Autograph Radiance Highlighter

Rosie For Autograph at Marks & Spencer just released their new Radiance Highlighter which has a gorgeous soft sheen to it. There are two shades available – a pink and a bronze, depending on your skin tone and chosen style you can vary them. The nice thing about all Rosie For Autograph make up products is that they don’t break the bank. This highlighter is only £12.50 so I think it’s a great way to get more experimental with highlighters as spring approaches and we all want that natural glow. If you didn’t want to use it as a solid highlighter then just add a few drops into your foundation and voila – dewy finish foundation in a jiffy.

Makeup Revolution Foil Frenzy Palette

I swooned hard when I saw this and despite having only just done a huge Makeup Revolution haul (it’s on my YouTube channel) I placed another order and got this. I couldn’t resist at all because I love a foil/metallic/glitter eye look. It’s my go-to statement and at £8 for the Foil Frenzy palette, it could be the best value foil palette I have. I was going to add some swatches here but I’ve got a cheeky video coming for you soon. Suffice to say guys, this palette is IN.SANE.

Latest In Beauty x HD Brows

I adore Latest In Beauty, you’ll know this because I rave about their beauty boxes all the time. They absolutely nail the limited edition boxes and themes and I don’t think I’ve ever received one that hasn’t impressed me. They recently just launched their Latest In Beauty x HD Brows Edit which has over £110 worth of products inside for only £30, which is a bargain and a half, right? The box contains 6 HD Brows products and they’re all full size, which is amazing in itself and between each item you’ve got everything needed for a complete eye and brow look. There’s a palette with brow and eye powders which means you’ll be able to fill the brows with this and give them a fuller look. And you can easily achieve this with the accompanying brush. Inside you also get a Brow Highlighter and Brow Definer – this is what’s going to allow you to curve out the perfect brow shape with definition and precision. Line with the Definer and then line again underneath with the Highlighter to draw the attention to the brow arch. You also get a gorgeous lip gloss and black eye pencil. Altogether the products and shades are completely universal so everyone and anyone can enjoy the products inside. If you’re into strong looking brows, this is a must.
