What I Put In My Mum’s DIY Beauty Hamper

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll remember that last year I built a beauty hamper for my Mum at Christmas and showed you guys all the things I put in it (How To Make a Beauty Hamper For Your Mum and What to Put In It.) It was such a hit that she specifically asked me to do the same thing for her this year again. Admittedly I have purchased quite a lot of other products for my mum this year – I wanted to treat her, as a family we’ve had a tough year. But because she liked her hamper so much, and had asked for one, I wanted to make her an updated version. And naturally, I thought you guys might like to see it too!

Building a beauty hamper for someone is a great way of giving them a personal gift – one with the ‘wow’ factor. You can tailor every product to them: their skin type, skin tone etc, so everything is hand picked for them. And it means they have the ‘wow’ factor when they open it. It also means you can be picky about what you include – some pre-made hampers and sets may have products that your Mum wouldn’t want. This way, you know she’ll use everything. So here’s what went in my Mum’s 2018 Beauty Hamper…

Institut Esthederm Cellular Water Mist

A great skincare product I knew she’d love was the Institut Esthederm Cellular Water Mist. This mist/spray can be used in many ways and it’s fueled with hyaluronic acid, which makes it perfect for anti-ageing skincare regimes. Used before other steps in skincare routines, this will help prep and prime the face for maximum anti-ageing benefits. It’s best used before things like your normal day or night creams to help aid them, but it can also be used over make up to set it too. So it’s perfect for my mum as her biggest skincare concern is ageing.

A’kin Rose Moisture Rich Facial Trio Set

This gorgeous trio set from A’kin is a great way to try a new brand – it contains the basics of any skincare regime: a cleanser, a toner (in mist form) and a moisturiser. Which should all work really well together. The focus of these three is to deliver a heavy hit of moisture to the skin, which is another thing my mum is always saying – her skin just drinks up moisture so she needs things designed to nourish properly. This set is blended with rose and rosehip oil, which is a great way to judge how nourishing it will be – while also still being gentle to the skin. And as with all A’kin products, these are completely natural with no hidden nasties. I know my mum loves trying new brands so I knew she’d love these.

Virginia Coram Bathtub Gift Set

A practical gift set I included was the Bathtub Duo from Virginia Coram, which contains two huge 250ml bottles of rose geranium and sage scented products. One is a hand and body lotion, the next is a natural soap – which can be used on the hands or the body in the shower. My mum always has lovely looking duo sets like this in the bathrooms in her house and so I wanted to get her a new brand to try. This set is rich in coconut and oils that mean it’s nourishing and encourages softness in the skin. Plus they both smell absolutely divine and really luxurious.  Perfect for all scent tastes.

Studio 10 Plumping Blush Glow-Plexion

Studio 10 are a make up brand designed for the slightly older make up lover, and since I introduced my Mum to them last year, she’s really loved their stuff. This year I got her their Plumping Blush Glow-Plexion which is effectively a liquid blush that can be added to the whole complexion and built up to deliver a natural glow. It highlights the skin perfectly and goes on well with a brush or beauty sponge. I also got her one of the matching Lip Glosses, which also act as a lip balm. These products are great for giving control to the person applying them but also for those women who don’t wear a lot of make up but want to emphasise their natural features.

Voya Pair Tree Duo

A little extra in the beauty hamper was this hanging gift set from Voya. Containing a body wash and matching body moisturiser, these organic goodies smell lovely and are the perfect travel size. My mum loves travel sized products like this as she goes away a lot, so they’re really easy to pop in her bag. With seaweed extracts, essential oils and organic herbs, you know your body is in good hands with these.

QMS Medicosmetics EpiGen Anti-Pollution Duo

We’re big fans of QMS products in our family. Skincare that’s formulated with science, so it delivers actual tangible results, this set contains their brand new Rescue Overnight Mask which isn’t available anywhere else – at all. Just in this set. It also contains one of the Epi-Gen Daily Detox Serums which my mum is a big fan of as it’s key for combating the signs of wrinkles. I’ll be borrowing the mask from time to time I’m sure!

So these are all the goodies making the cut for my mum’s beauty hamper this year – I’m hoping she’ll love the selection and that you might have found some lovely inspiration for your own hamper if you choose to make one!

Your Mum is going to be one lucky lady opening her beauty hamper up on Christmas morning! Such lovely choices, I really like the look/sound of the mist – I’m always a sucker for a good facial mist! 😀

I made my mum the same present for this year! She likes being pampered but for some reason never learned about skincare so I’ve done all her steps suited to her skin type. I love the sound of the Studio 10 items, will definitely keep them in mind for her bday in Jan!
