When it comes to gift guides, this one has had me the most excited to publish. I’ve thoroughly loved all of this year’s edits, but I’ve been the most excited for you to see this one. As a make-up-magpie, I have so many amazing products in my collection and I’m always buying more as well. Make up is my love – and I think I have been the same since my teens, and probably always will be. Which means that this year’s Gift Guide, the make up edit, is the one I’ve been having so much fun with…
Stila Shimmering Heights Set – £29
When it comes to shimmery eye looks, we all know and love the Stila formula for this. They always nail the Christmas sets too and I was happy to see so many variations in this years range. Included, was this set of three of their shimmering eyeshadows, in a set called the Shimmering Heights Set. All of which are their great liquid formula that comes in a tube and is applied with a wand. Their Shimmer & Glow eyeshadows are the ones with a metallic finish that looks glossy and pearlescent, so if you’re not ready for full glitter yet then these are a great place to start. Each shadow is 2.25ml so great to try before buying the full size.
Stila Nude Attitude Stay All Day Lipstick Set – £22
Another must-have this Christmas in the make up section, is the matching Stila Nude Attitude Stay All Day Lipstick Set. Featuring three of their gorgeous liquid lipsticks, all on the nude-end of the colour spectrum, this set is perfect for those who want to try some new liquid lipsticks before buying full size. The Stila formula is non-drying and really pleasant to wear, so it’s a good one for anyone wanting to expand their lipstick collection! Plus with such versatile shades, you’ll not be disappointed with the colours.
Too Faced Tutti Fruitti Range
As a die-hard Too Faced fan, I am in love with pretty much every range they release. But a fun one I can’t let go unmentioned this year has to be their Tutti Fruitti scented range – which is so fun and pretty – and anyone would love it. Too Faced keep their themes fun while their products still perform so well – it’s the best of both worlds, and a make up lovers dream. So this collection is the perfect gift for Christmas. I especially recommend the Fruit Cocktails Blush Duo which contains two shades – a blush and a highlight, both in pretty pink. The compact itself comes in a matching palette and it’s great for adding colour to the cheeks. I then also recommend the Juicy Fruits Comfort Lip Glazes – a liquid lipstick formula with high colour payoff, the shade Ruby Ripe is perfect for the festive season. And then to complete your collection, add one (or two!) of the Twinkle Twinkle Glitter Eyeshadows which have a great sparkle level and look stunning on the eyes. Citrus Mistress is my colour of choice.
Hourglass Confession Refillable Lipstick Set – £55
If you’ve not read my blog post on Hourglass and why you need it in your make up bag, then make sure you check it out. For Christmas I can’t think of a more gorgeous brand that a girl would want to find under her tree or in her stocking. This Confession three-piece lipstick set is a gorgeous one to give (and/or buy for yourself!) and it comes in the most slinky looking box. Inside you’ll find two lipsticks in the golden holders and one extra lipstick which is the refillable style – because all Hourglass lipsticks come like these for easy refill when you run out. The shades inside the set are also really versatile and all skin tones will be able to pull them off. This one will get you big brownie points.
ORLY Rose Gold Set – £25
For the nail lovers I couldn’t not make sure there was a treat for you – so here’s my top nail pick for Christmas: the ORLY Rose Gold set featuring the most pretty rose gold clutch bag and three full size polishes inside. There’s a pale pink, a metallic rose gold and a glitter, which altogether give the prettiest vibe and would create some really girly and fun nails this Christmas. I think gifts like this are practical and lovely, with almost everyone loving a good nail polish set and the ORLY quality means long lasting nail colour too. So it’s a great gift for any girl on your list.
Huda Beauty New Nude Palette – £55
I couldn’t not feature a palette now could I?! Naturally, a nice eyeshadow palette has to feature somewhere on my Christmas make up guide! And I think a great one for this Christmas is the newly released New Nude by Huda Beauty. A gorgeous and large palette this is very heavy on the pinks, not so much the nudes, but it’s ever-so pretty and girly. I think this one would be a great palette to help introduce someone to the Huda palettes because the pans are large so you get a good amount of product, and there’s mattes, shimmers and a new glitter formula inside. Meaning you can create so many different looks with it. Any eye make up lover would be a happy girl to find this under her tree.
Nudestix Nudies Duo – £45
Nudestix are a brand I tried years ago when I picked up their products while in America and this year has seen them launch here in the UK – which has been really exciting. They have some really nice Christmas sets available and it’s a good place to start with their products. I recommend trying this Nudies Duo Set which contains two of their Nudies stix. These are all over make up sticks that can be used on the face, cheeks, eyes and lips – so they’re totally multi-purpose which means you’ll get a lot of use from them. The set features a matte pink and a highlighting shade in a white/silver tone. So it’s very versatile in colours meaning anyone can enjoy playing around with their Nudestix style this Christmas.
One launch that excited me VERY much this year was the fun and happy-looking Crayola Beauty range. Exclusive to ASOS the much loved pencil crayon brand has created it’s own beauty line! HOW COOL! The inner little girl in my loved it as soon as I saw it! And so naturally, what more could a make up lover want than a collection as fun and kitsch as this?! I recommend trying out the eyeshadow palettes – the Smokey Eye one is my favourite and the most wearable in my opinion. I also recommend trying out one of the Trio Face Crayons Sets. These are the ones that look most like the actual Crayola crayons, so they’ll give you that throw-back moment. And these can be used on the eyes as well as lips and cheeks too. This is one range to check out and play with – for the make up lover who enjoys playing with new releases.
By Terry Build Your Own Palette
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll have recently seen my visit to the brand new By Terry Palette Factory in Selfridges. No longer do you have to mix and match products to great your specific shade – you can make it, and what’s more, with a brand like By Terry, you know the quality is going to be excellent. You can make everything from eyeshadows to blush and bronzers – even face powders. Basically any powder make up product you would like. You pick the colours and shades yourself, decide on the finish and you even physically make the palette with the team too. It’s so much fun and perfect for the palette lovers with specific taste.
Urban Decay x Feel Unique Beauty on The Go Kit – £45
If you’re looking for an all-in-one kit for Christmas then check out the Urban Decay x Feel Unique Beauty on The Go Kit. It is a set that comes in a gorgeous bag complete with some of the everyday essentials you’d want from Urban Decay. It has the Naked Basic mini palette, and the cult eyeshadow primer to match. It also comes with an individual eyeshadow, a mascara and a bottle of their setting spray – which everyone loves. I can’t recommend this set highly enough for the price and how much you get – it’s amazing value.
