Marks & Spencer Advent Calendar Unboxing 2018

Marks & Spencer Advent Calendar Unboxing 2018

As you guys know, I’ve been filming all of my Beauty Advent Calendar unboxings over on my YouTube channel and one that everyone went mad for last year was the Marks and Spencer calendar. Having known how popular last year’s blog post was, I knew I wanted to get my hands on this year’s version to review for you guys too!

Much like last year’s offering, the 2018 calendar is different to others on the market because it’s technically a gift-with-purchase type calendar. Costing £35 you can only pick this up when you spend £35 in-store or online in either the fashion, home or beauty departments. So effectively, for £70 it’s yours plus you get whatever else you treated yourself to in the spend. (A good recommendation is a Christmas Gift like pjs/dressing gowns because the M&S ones are always a favourite.)

Having now fully unboxed this over on my YouTube channel, you can see full spoilers of everything inside and hear more about each and every product in the calendar so make sure you watch it here!

But what I like to do with my blog posts is give you a break down of products and review the calendar as a whole. Considering the huge variety in the Advent Calendar world right now, some may expect the competition to be so high that nothing measures up. However for another year, Marks & Spencer have proved to retain their title as one of the best value. For the money you pay, the products inside are very high value. Over £280 worth to be exact, which is a HUGE return on investment there. Not only that but the brands inside are all well known too, proving it’s a great one for ‘designer’ and well recognised names.

For the most part I was really impressed with the treats. The only one not to tick the box for me was the day you got a single nail file. I class that as a filler item, not something you should find behind a door on it’s own. You’d be a bit disappointed on that day. But everything else was spot-on! In fact, I’d go as far as to say that this is the advent calendar for the skincare lovers. Compiling some of the very best skincare brands and some cult status skincare products – well, you’re going to be sporting glorious skin after having this in your life! So if you’re a skincare fan then this is the one you want.

One of the stand-out products for me in this calendar was the Pixi Rose Tonic. Considering the Pixi Toners are probably one of the best known and well reviewed toners on the market, it really excited me to find a travel size of their rose version inside. Also with elderflower, this gorgeous toner should suit all skin tones and types and it’s perfect for taking away with you in your travel bag.

Another stand out product for me was the This Works In Transit Camera Close Up which is a cross between a primer and a moisturiser. I’ve reviewed it in full on my blog before and I really rate it as a great primer for everyday. It keeps make up in place, blurs imperfections and keeps things looking fresh for longer. This again was a travel size so you can get a good month or two of usage from it before buying the full size.

I also loved the Leighton Denny nail polish inside the calendar. I’m a sucker for great red nail polish as it’s all I wear on my toes and usually all you’ll find on my fingers throughout the festive season. This is full size and has the prettiest metallic edge to give the nails dimension. I’ll be wearing this very soon for sure!

One I hadn’t tried but was very excited to find inside was the Percy & Reed Wonder Overnight Recovery Treatment. A girl can never have too many hair products and anything that works overnight so it doesn’t take extra time is a winner in my eyes. I’m keeping this for my weekend pamper.

As you can see it’s a great all-rounder with a lean towards skincare. I know several of my friends purchased this off the back of my YouTube video as it shows it in all of it’s glory and it really is versatile enough to suit women (and men!) of every age and beauty level. Considering you can coincide your purchase with some Christmas shopping, I think there’s every appeal in this calendar. And it’s getting my vote as the best for skincare and one of the best for value in 2018!

I think this is one of the best I’ve seen so far. I admire from afar because I could never justify spending so much on an advent calendar, not when I have 5 kids and 2 grandchildren to buy for! lol 🙂

So many amazing brands in this one. I love M&S and I think it’s great you can get this for only £35 when you’ve bought some products as it’s like getting extra for your money! x

There’s some great products in here, is it even a M&S calendar without Pixi included? That toner is lush!
