When it comes to autumn, I’m very particular over the products I use to create my daily make up style. I always go for a flawless complexion but the weather in autumn can be troublesome and effect the way my make up looks and also how it wears. So when I am making my morning selections of what products to apply, I always try and keep this in mind. I recently topped up my Charlotte Tilbury collection with a range of products to see me through the autumn months and now having been using and enjoying them, it’s time to write about them!
Charlotte Tilbury are one of my favourite brands to write about. They’ve been one of my sweetheart brands since I started blogging – the brand I loved long before I started writing about beauty, and have loved trying out and reviewing for all of you guys. There’s so much to be said for brands like Charlotte Tilbury that get their products right time after time – they can do little wrong in my eyes.
So for my autumn essentials I tend to mix up my make up bag. You’ll find my blog filled with useful tips and tricks on how to transition through the seasons, and I hope you find them useful. When it comes to make up, I tend to need something that’s going to stay put – the rain, wind and cooler weather can cause havoc in keeping make up in place. So first up on my shopping list was the brand new setting powder as Charlotte Tilbury have just released their Genius Magic Powder. Being a hard-core fan of the Magic Foundation and Magic Cream, I was thrilled to see this in their newly released section. I have come to rely on setting powders and I’ve been using this one for almost a month now and I adore it. More than a setting powder alone, I’ve been using this as an under eye brightener and in conjunction with my highlight. It’s just so good. It blurs the skin to give an airbrushed look – my pores look smaller, and it mattes out my complexion – as someone with oily skin, this is what you want from a good setting product. It holds my make up in place and keeps things looking fresh while giving me a very subtle radiance across my cheekbones. I mix my highlight with this across the high points and it creates the most perfect, brightened and highlighted area. I apply mine with a sponge to give a really concentrated look but I think lightly dusted with a brush would work well too.
The Genuis Magic Powder does everything you’d want a setting powder to do – blurs, holds make up in place, increases radiance and lightens the under eye area. It’s an autumn must have, and it’s available in three versatile shades for all skin tones.
The next essential I picked up was the brand new Magic Away Concealer. I’d seen this everywhere and I had to try it out – even though I didn’t think I needed another concealer in my life, I am SO glad that I did. This concealer has made me fall back in love with one type of make up product I’ve never really fallen in love with. I guess I’ve just never found the perfect formula for me when it comes to concealer. But The new Magic Away Concealer comes pretty close, and I think I’m starting to now understand why people swear by a concealer when they find the perfect one. This one is full coverage but it doesn’t feel cakey. I’ve been using mine under my eyes and it doesn’t sink into the lines and highlight my wrinkles – which is mostly why I love it. I hate that I’m starting to get fine lines there, so I don’t want anything that’s going to emphasise this. This concealer brightens the area naturally without looking like it’s coated in product. It blends out creamily and thanks to the sponge applicator it gives a nice an even application and coverage. My eyes look brighter and more awake instantly and when set with the Genuis Magic Powder they look the best they’ve looked in ages (thanks to two mini humans and lack of sleep!)
While I was stocking up on Charlotte Tilbury products, I picked up the limited edition Bar of Gold palette. Girls and boys. You need this. Even if you have highlighter palettes coming out of your ears, you still need this. Trust me. I am fussy when it comes to highlighters. I try many, many versions and few make the cut for me. But this palette *swoon* it hits the spot. Featuring three shades including a gold, a yellow gold and a rose gold, this palette packs a punch. The pigmentation in the shades is second to none and I’ve been blown away with how pretty the shades look – even on my pale skin tone. What I’ve always liked about Charlotte Tilbury Highlighter products though, is the way they don’t over-build. You can create great and subtle highlight and glow as well as building up the coverage to an all-out show stopping highlight. It gives you the versatility and control to go for whichever level you like without looking overbuilt in some areas and sparse in others. It applies that seamlessly. I like to even use mine as an eyeshadow sometimes too, the sparkle is just that pretty. So even if you don’t need more highlighters – get this. It should be a treat and you deserve it, right? (Plus these always sell out fast so grab it before it goes!)
Obviously a great any-season essential is the perfect lipstick. And one shade that I love to wear in autumn is surprising, coral. Most people stick to coral lipsticks in the summer only, but I find when you have the right warm tone of coral, teamed with a gold eye look and a sultry smokey look, it can look great in autumn too and match the leaves on the trees. I picked up Coachella Coral as my new autumn Charlotte Tilbury lipstick and I love it for adding some brightness to my autumn looks. All the K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipsticks give great coverage and I have many in my collection. This one has a rich and shiny finish and looks perfect for perking up the cooler days.
So those are my autumn essentials from the legendary Charlotte Tilbury – what more could you want in your autumn make up bag than this bundle of great and everyday goodies? I highly recommend picking these up to perk up your seasonal make up looks.
