When it comes to fragrances there’s so many factors that can affect which ones we pick. If you’re anything like me then you’ll have a dressing table filled with bottles of lovely fragrances and switch between them each day. However I often find that without really knowing it, I reach for certain scents more than others due to things like the weather and the event I’m going to. For example, I’ll reach for specific perfumes a lot in summer, but never in winter, or only wear certain fragrances at a meeting. Every scent offers something different and you can find something to match every occasion. That’s the joy of having a perfume collection, right? But I think it’s the ones you reach for, without actually thinking about it, that are the ones in your collection that you trust the most and hold a special place in your heart. They’re the ones you can never go wrong with.
For this time of year, you don’t want something sweet or fruity. We’re past the sunshine and hot days of the summer, so leave those scents behind for now. But if you still like something a bit summery then you’ll like the Philosophy Pure Grace Endless Summer eau de toilette. It’s got notes of iced lychee and magnolia so it creates this unique scent that reminds me of holidays. It’s tropical without being summery – if that makes sense?! So you can live your post-summer holiday blues out without too much sadness, and also get away with it in the winter. It’s such a lovely scent, I get asked a lot about my fragrance when I wear this one. I have reached for this one a LOT, and way more than I thought because it’s so different for a ‘tropical’ type of scent. I’ll be wearing this long into autumn.
Another easy scent for early autumn would be the Philosophy Pure Grace Nude Rose. This one is for the musk fans! Although based on notes of blush rose, this one has cedarwood and sunkissed musk within it’s notes, so it’s more sultry and defined. I like this one for early autumn because unlike a lot of musk fragrances, this one isn’t heavy and doesn’t get stuck in your throat. It’s still delicate, as you’d expect from a rose fragrance, but it maintains the perfect balance between that and musky. Meaning it’s great for those sunny autumn days when things are cooling down. It’s a great twist on a floral fragrance – and very versatile too.
So we’ve covered the post-summer fragrance, the musk fragrance and now it’s time for the English Rose option. Or Should I say Ballet Rose. The third fragrance that’s great for early autumn is the Philosophy Amazing Grace Ballet Rose eau de toilette. This one is everything you imagine the girly, delicate and everyday British girl to be. It’s soft and gentle, with notes of peony and also has a slight musk to the end notes, meaning it holds nicely on the skin to give a classic and sophisticated scent. It’s perfect for those who prefer more delicate fragrances, that just linger lightly in the air. It’s sweeter than the other two, so between these three you’ve got a great mix of everything to pick your perfect early autumn fragrance.
