How on earth it’s come to this time again, I’ll never know! The months are whizzing past this year and I feel like I’ve only written up one monthly favourites post, before I’m writing the next! Please tell me that I’m not the only person who feels this year is now speeding past? August was a much better month for me. I had my holiday, my son’s first birthday and finally booked my wedding! It really was a nice month for us and it included some really lovely products too. So let’s look at my favourites and what was new in beauty this month…
Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette
Everyone who reads my blog, knows that I love, love, LOVE ABH eyeshadow palettes and I have them all. I naturally had to add the Norvina to my collection this summer when it launched. Initially a bit scared of the palette shades because those pinks and purples just intimidated me a bit, I felt happy with my purchase as soon as I saw it in the flesh. The colours that make you dubious when you see it online, are actually really lovely tones in person, so I don’t think there’s any shades I’ll not use in this. I’ve created some really pretty and girly eye looks with this so far and can’t wait to continue experimenting with looks over the coming months too. I’ve loved this during August so naturally it had to make an appearance here!
Goldwell Kerasilk Shampoo and Conditioner
I’ve used Kerasilk products before, but this month I’ve been using some of the Repower range which isn’t new out, but it is new to me. Celebrating their launch at Feel Unique, Kerasilk kindly sent over some of their Repower range which is designed to add volume to the hair. (It also works to combat hair loss if you have any problems with that.) I have such thin and fine hair that I struggle to get volume of any sort in my locks, so I was excited to try this range because it says that it cleanses the hair without any residue, which is what allows the hair to have more volume and life. I started with the Shampoo and then the really unique Foam texture Conditioner. Very quickly both became a big hit because my hair felt lighter than normal and I could quite clearly feel the difference because my hair didn’t feel so weighed down. It also created a more thickened appearance of the hair from the mid to end sections, which can be where my hair looks quite thin now it’s longer. So I was really pleased to notice an actual difference there. Not many volumising products actually deliver results I can be happy with, but these really did and I love how much lighter my hair feels. I really want to try the Dry Shampoo from the range now too.
Ogee Sculpted Lip Oil
Another favourite for me this month was the Ogee Sculpted Lip Oil which is a chubby pencil shaped lip oil which smells amazing thanks to being infused with peppermint essential oils. Past the bright green colour, this product has actually been in constant use since I got it and I’ll be repurchasing when it runs out because I rate it that highly. It’s a nourishing lip oil that moisturises the lips deeply and has a high shine that’s natural and healthy looking when worn. I can get quite dry lips very easily, so this was lovely to help prevent that, but also I find this really nice to apply before bedtime. It makes me feel like I’m giving myself a little lip treatment before I go to sleep. I keep mine in my handbag now and highly recommend it if you’re looking for a new lip product.
Hairburst Lash & Brow Serum
Another product that has been used a lot since it arrived this past month, is the Hairburst Lash & Brow Serum. I loved the packaging – the colours are so me. But past that I didn’t really have any expectations either way on this product…but boy was I blown away! A quick Google search shows how many people swear by this, with Elle Magazine saying it’s one of the best lash and brow serums you can get. So after reading that, I got it on my lashes quicker than you can blink! (See what I did there?!) Anyway, I’m a month in with this now and I can see a real difference in my lashes – which is amazing considering I’ve tried a lot of strengthening serums like this and never had really noticeable results. I had lash extensions before my holiday but after that I was waiting for them to grow out and naturally extensions weaken your own lashes, so I’ve been using this to rebuild them and it’s really helped. I’d recommend anyone who has had extensions to try this to aid the regrowth process. A BIG hit from me.
Hairburst Mulberry Silk Pillowcase
New in this month along with the serum came the Hairburst Mulberry Silk Pillowcase, which is supposed to be the end of all your frizzy hair nightmares (see what I did again? Okay, I’ll stop.) The silk itself is supposed work against hair becoming frizzy overnight while you sleep, so that you should wake up with smoother hair in the morning: no products required. Hairburst also say that it can reduce things like split ends too because the amount of friction between your hair and the normal pillowcase are reduced. Pretty cool huh? For £34.99 it’s worth trying out if you have frizz-prone hair.
E.L.F Beautifully Bare Natural Glow Face Palette
I’ve had this a while but made a real effort to use it more in August because it’s just so pretty to look it! No seriously though, past the pretty pink shades it’a actually a really, really good cheek palette. I’ve come to love E.L.F for their affordable beauty products this year, because they’re always really nice quality for the price. And this palette is no different because it’s only £9 – such a bargain for a quad. If you have a fair skin tone like me then you’ll love this too because the colours in the palette are the perfect ‘English rose’ kind of shades that compliment the pale and fair skinned. Inside is a bronzer, a highlight and two blushes so you’ve got a good cheek coverage with these four and they have a buildable level of coverage so you can really work them to your advantage. Top marks for the E.L.F Beautifully Bare Natural Glow Face Palette from me.
Diego Dalla Palma Eclipse Stick Foundation
Another new in product this past month has been the Diego Dalla Palma Stick Foundation. I like DDP and have actually tried quite a few of their products over the last 12 months or so. This stick foundation offers a cream to powder formula with medium buildable coverage that you can get to full coverage when applied properly with a foundation brush. Called a ‘second skin effect’ foundation, this stick will be perfect for keeping in your handbag to touch up during days out/work/meetings etc and it also offers UV protection built-in too, so it’s great for all your travels. Pick it up on the Diego Dalla Palma website.
So that’s it for August’s monthly favourites and new-in goodies, a pretty cute month with some fabulous products, if I do say so myself! I honestly couldn’t pick a favourite from between these as they really all have been top of the class, so let me know which are taking your fancy!
