Two weeks ago you’ll have seen on my Instagram Stories that I headed to Gatwick Airport as a guest of World Duty Free. They were hosting a BIG celebration in aid of their first ever Summer Festival and I had quite frankly, the best time! I’m already a huge fan of World Duty Free – the beauty lover inside me gets giddy at the thought of shopping there before my holidays and I often head there with a huge list, ready to stock up on all my favourites as well as treating myself to lots of new goodies. So the opportunity of a shopping spree at one of the best beauty destinations in the UK was a dream come true!
Gatwick Summer Festival
As mentioned, the occasion was to celebrate the launch of Gatwick’s Summer Festival in partnership with World Duty Free. Which is a summer-long event being hosted across the airport seeing all sorts of amazing festival themed activities to help you start your journey in style! As the festival fun takes over the terminal at Gatwick’s North and South Terminals, you’ll be able to indulge in ‘festival glow’ 10 minute makeovers at M.A.C, express beauty treatments and you could be one of the very lucky winners to pocket airport vouchers to spend, because there’s £5,000 worth to be won!
As if this wasn’t enough, you’ll also be able to grab two Gatwick exclusive tipples from World Duty Free – the Sour Cherry and Coconut Gin Liquer as well as Carribbean-sourced White Rum Democratico. AND you can also get a taste of Gatwick’s very own first draught ale as part of the Summer Festival. ‘The Toast of The Terminal’ is available in restaurants and bars in both terminals for a pre-flight drink.
While you leave your husband in the bar, or your travelling companion browsing the books, if you’re anything like me, you’ll spend pretty much all of your flight waiting time in World Duty Free. So now there’s even more reason to indulge your time in the shopping mecca! The Summer Festival is the perfect time to treat yourself – just like I did!
Let’s get the party started!
The lovely folks at World Duty Free really know how to put on a party, that’s for sure! This girl felt like a VERY lucky lady after her Summer Festival visit. We were treated to a night at the BLOC Hotel, which had amazing views of the airport (I spent the morning after having my daily coffee in bed watching all the planes coming in to land, the views were amazing) and gave us the perfect base for the festival. Upon arrival I was greeted with the most amazing spread of treats. As well as some yummy popcorn, chocolate and of course my favourite champagne, there was also a goody bag laden with amazing gifts. Showcasing some of the many Travel Exclusive beauty products that you can only get from World Duty Free, the products made me swoon and I was in beauty-loving heaven. In all seriousness though, it’s these Travel Exclusive sets that really make WDF stand out as a beauty store – you absolutely will not find these anywhere else. So just to wet your whistle and help you compile your pre-holiday shopping list, here’s just some of the many Travel Exclusives that you could pick up during the Gatwick Summer Festival. And remember, even if you’re not travelling from Gatwick, or you don’t have a lot of crossover time, you can pre-order your chosen products and collect at your local World Duty Free!
My Summer Festival Scrapbook!
Here’s some of the amazing Travel Exclusives marking Gatwick and World Duty Free’s Summer Festival…
Travel Exclusives at World Duty Free
MAC X9 Smokey Metallics Set
I love the MAC x 9 eyeshadow palettes, they’re so handy for popping in my handbag because they’re the perfect size. But better than that, the quality of MAC eyeshadows is second-to-none, and despite the small size, they pack a lot of punch. This Smokey Metallics palette is perfect for creating smokey eyes with a sultry vibe. I’m a big fan of smokey eyes so this won me over right away. Plus a normal x9 palette retails for £26, but because this is duty free, it’s only £22.80 *waves pom poms*
Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick Trio & Bag
You can’t beat a bit of Estee Lauder normally, let alone when it’s duty free! I think Estee Lauder will forever be one of those golden brands that can do no wrong – and that includes this gorgeous Lipstick Trio & Bag Set. Containing three beautiful shades of the Color Envy Lipsticks, they come in a beautiful little pouch to hold them in. I personally think this is a fantastic product to pick up on your travels because the Color Envy Lipsticks cost £27 each (x3 = £81) so the value here is huge as well as saving you so much money AND you get the cute bag!
Clarins Make Up Remover Trio
I LOVE this set and it’s something I’d pick up anyway because I swear by the Clarins Cleanser & Toner. This trio kit has travel sizes of the Cleanser & Toner (for dry to normal skin) as well as an eye make up remover too. Perfect for saving some space in the luggage and picking this up on route. Plus it’s got the Clarins expert quality so you can trust it will be gentle on your skin.
Clinique Ultra Hydration Set
If you’re jetting off somewhere hot and sunny then it’s so important to make sure you’ve got skincare covered. You’ll need something with lots of hydration to ensure skin doesn’t dry out and this Travel Exclusive Set from Clinique has got you covered. Featuring a large sized Moisture Surge Cream, matching Eye Cream and Spray, this has all of your facial skincare needs for a sunny trip sorted because it keeps skin hydrated for up to 72 hours. And you can’t ask for better than that.
Marc Jacobs Miniatures Set
If you read my blog often then you’ll know I am obsessed with Marc Jacobs fragrances. This past year they’ve just sucked me in and I’ve amassed a small army of bottles! This cute four-piece mini set contains four of the best fragrances in mini bottles. What I like about these is that the mini bottles are the same shape and design as their full size counterparts. Which may sound silly but usually mini bottles are a more simple shape. These match their ‘big sisters’ perfectly and they’re all great handbag sizes!
These are just some of the amazing goodies you can pick up on your travels this summer, there’s all the normal beauty products as brands, as well as a huge amount of Travel Exclusives across beauty, skincare, fragrance and food and drink too! So you don’t need any other reason to celebrate the Gatwick Summer Festival! Stay tuned for Part 2, showing my HUGE Duty Free Haul! (And a sneak peak at what’s on my wish-list!)
