Stila have really made their mark in the last few years haven’t they? Their Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Shadows blew everyone away. Suddenly glittery eyelids with no mess were easily achievable. No more stray pigments on the cheeks, no fall out – the Magnificent Metals made themselves a cult product in no time. With their amazingly good value Eye For Elegance Christmas Set selling out faster than expected, suddenly there was even more demand for their products. Stila, you got it majorly right with these!
So fast forward a few months and the introduction of full sized Magnificent Metals Shimmer & Glow Shadows. A new addition to the collection and minus the glitter, these give the lids a slick of pearly and shimmery goodness in the same formula. A glossy and creamy eyeshadow in the same packaging and bottle, you apply with the included brush and the colour payoff is rich. You only need one slick per eye and you’ll have full payoff – the thick and creamy formula means you don’t need lots of product for the maximum effect. Which is always a good thing.
The Shimmer & Glow shadows have the same adhesive base that’s in the original Glitter & Glow formula. Which sticks the product to the lids and once it’s dry, there is absolutely no budging whatsoever. Unusually for a liquid eyeshadow, this one doesn’t stray into the lines and stick there. It gives good output and coverage. It does go into lines towards the end of the day, I don’t think I’ve found a liquid shadow that doesn’t – but that’s after hours of prime wear. It absolutely lasts longer than other cream formulas I’ve tried before doing this.
I have been using shade Jezabel which is a creamy pearlescent warm pink/gold tone and it looks great with a smokey transition shade! (Swatches below.)
After the new Shimmer & Glow Shadows, the next amazing new release was a selection of colours in the Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick formula – but in sheer version. The Stay All Day Sheer Liquid Lipsticks contain the lovely formula from the original matte collection, but with a sheer finish to soften the colour and make them look just that tiny bit less matte.
What’s great about these is that they have all the pro’s of a matte lipstick: like the fact that they have seriously strong staying power. They stick around through food and drink for hours and don’t wear in an uneven way. The colour payoff is also really impressive from just one or two swipes – the great thing about matte lipsticks is that they give full payoff, and these sheer versions also have that. Once dry, they don’t move or budge and there’s no bleeding either, so they’re great for the everyday make-up bags and handbag.
One of my two favourite shades is naturally, Caramello. I have this one in the original matte formula as it’s the perfect everyday nude. I love the fact that this one comes in a sheer finish now too and I think I love it even more than the matte!
My second favourite shade is Sheer Patina which is a dusty rose colour. It is my favourite kind of pink – the dusty rose is muted and slightly darker when it dries to when it’s wet but it’s such a versatile shade for everyday. Pinks are my thing so it’s no surprise that this made the cut for me!
As always, these new bits from Stila really are fabulous and absolutely essential for your make-up collection.
