It’s all getting very exciting now: with Christmas well and truly in our sights. Which means it’s time to start thinking about Advent Calendars – one of my favourite pre-Christmas rituals! Every year Marks & Spencer bring out an Advent Calendar and as much as I’ve loved previous years’ – this one is pretty special! I’ve had the pleasure of getting a sneak peak at it, and the goodies inside. So if you’re looking for a fabulous beauty Advent Calendar this year, then read ahead – but beware, there’s spoilers!
The M&S Advent Calendar this year has a house themed design with 24 removable boxes all with festive decorations. There’s three sized boxes – simple rectangles at the bottom, mini house shapes in the middle and large house shapes at the back. Each box is numbered for the days and contains one beauty product per day. Unusually for Advent Calendars, there’s also a gift for Christmas Day itself, which is concealed in the roof of the calendar – which is a lovely touch. (It’s also the only gift I’ve not photographed, so there’s some little surprise for you!)
The calendar itself is worth over £250 – pretty impressive huh? But it will only cost you £35 when you spend £35 in Marks & Spencer in the clothing and/or home sections. And it’s available from 9th November, while stocks last. Because the value of products inside is so high, and it looks so pretty and festive, I can imagine this will sell out pretty quickly, so make sure you grab one while you can.
So, it’s what you’ve been waiting for…*drumroll please* here’s a list of the goodies you get inside. But beware this is a total spoiler, so close your eyes for this bit if you don’t want to spoil the surprise!
First things first, my favourites of the Calendar would have to be the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in shade Perla. It’s a gorgeous nude pink and is a mini version of the full sized lipsticks. It’s 1.5ml – so the perfect handbag size.
Then there’s the Leighton Denny Star Dust Nail Polish. Perfect for Christmas, this silver and white glittery polish has specks of colour throughout and is one of the full sized products in the calendar. (RRP £12)
I’m a big fan of REN Skincare so I was delighted when I pulled out a 10ml sample size of their Instant Firming Beauty Shot. A great little skin pick-me-up, this is fabulous for the winter months.
One of my skincare saviours is the Alpha H Liquid Gold. I swear by it and have even got my Mum hooked on it this year. I’ve been desperate to try the Rose Gold edition, so when I pulled out a 50ml Rose Gold bottle, I was thrilled. The full size is 100ml for roughly £37 (ish) so getting half the size of a full bottle was amazing.
Also included in the calendar is:
Filorga Meso Mask (Smoothing radiance mask) – 15ml
Percy & Reed Flexible Hold Hairspray – 50ml
Ameliorate Transforming Body Lotion – full size
Korres Wild Rose Advance Repair Sleeping Facial – 16ml
Eyes Black Magic Mascara (half size) – 4ml
M&S Formula Absolute Ultimate Sleep Cream – 15ml
Rosie for Autograph Amazing Radiance Body Glow – 50ml
Nuxe Precious Scented Shower Oil – 50ml
Pix By Petra Lip Sheen (Honey Sheen) – 1g
Diego Dalla Palma Ciglione Mascara – full size
Ultrasun Ultra Lip Balm – full size
Autograph Hydrating Boost Primer – 15ml
M&S Formula Innovate Radiance Reveal Peel – 15ml
Balanceme Rose Otto Face Oil – 10ml
Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm – 15ml
Nails Inc Gel One Coat (Molton Star) – full size
Gatineau Melatogenine Advanced Rejuvenating Cream 15ml
PUR Correcting Primer 10ml
Rodial Dragon’s Blood Sculpting Gel 15ml
Shay & Blue Blood Oranges (boxed) 10ml
PLUS…a cute little mystery gift to top it all off on Christmas Day!
I think you’ll agree that it’s a pretty good collection of products across all areas of beauty. There’s make-up, skincare, body care, nails and hair care all covered in the goodies you get and they’re all pretty universal and versatile so everyone can enjoy them. I was also seriously impressed at the sizes of the products. Yes, some products are small sample sizes, but the majority are half or a third of the full sized products, so you get a decent amount of most things. Plus a few half size and even some full size too. Which means it’s incredibly good value and great for trying lots of new goodies!
So in my opinion, £35 with a £35 spend is really good value for everything you get inside. It’s a cute calendar, looks festive and pretty, and the range of goodies is pretty fab.
Get yours from M&S from 9th November.
