Christmas time is the one time of year when everyone has something in common – buying gifts. We all buy gifts at other times of the year, but Christmas is when we all come together and collectively buy gifts for our nearest and dearest. But with the cost of living being so high, kids to look after, work to do etc it can often become something we view as a chore and not as a pleasure and privilege. Because ultimately that’s what gifting is: a privilege. And it’s so important to remember that.
Having friends and family to buy gifts for at Christmas should highlight how lucky we are to have them in our lives in the first place. And therefore the importance of gifting something truly special is something we should view with pleasure. I’m very much the type of person who likes to give heartfelt and thoughtful gifts that are significant to the person who is receiving them. I don’t always spend the most, or buy the most fancy items, but I like to think all the gifts I give at Christmas are heartfelt. I pick what I’m gifting based on what I know about that person: what they like, what they don’t, what they need and what would be something they’d love to receive as a gift. Because if there’s any occasion to give a gift that blows someone away, it’s Christmas.
Lots of my friends and family have had a really tough year this year. I had a really difficult pregnancy but some friends and family have had things much worse, which has been heartbreaking to see. Therefore to me, the importance of gifting something special, to show them how much I love them and appreciate them, is something I take seriously. Sharing the Christmas spirit is a pleasure and a privilege and of course it should be lots of fun!
One tradition I have at Christmas is shopping in Boots. With my Christmas list in hand and my Advantage Card in my pocket, I will either head out to my local store or sit down with a cup of tea and spend the evening doing a huge chunk of my Christmas shopping. The huge amount of Christmas gifts for her always blow me away and this year is no different. The brands available in Boots get better every Christmas and some of the gorgeous gift sets you can get are the best out there. Together with my list of who to buy for, I put real effort in to picking just the right gift for each person. Knowing my friends and family, I know what they need and want and what would blow them away and Boots have something for each of those categories.
To highlight the importance of gifting this Christmas, I’m working with Boots as part of their #BootsSecretSanta campaign. In this campaign I have handpicked £100 worth of designer gifts and I am gifting it to fellow blogger, Paige. In return another of the chosen #BootsSecretSanta Bloggers has picked a gift for me, and we will all be doing the big reveal on Instagram in the coming weeks!
But it doesn’t stop there, because I love all of my wonderful readers (you guys make all my time writing, photographing etc totally worthwhile) and I wanted to share something special with you: I also have the same £100 worth of gifts to gift to one of you!
All you need to do to enter is fill in the Rafflecopter below for your chance to win. And seeing as I handpicked the gifts myself, I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed! (Competition ends 7th December and is open to UK only.)
