I’ve never been too worried about my lips. They’re one part of my face that I quite like at the moment, and don’t feel the need to mess with them too much. However loads of my friends have had lip fillers over the past few years, so I’ve become more and more intrigued by getting a fuller looking pout. Being the good (nosey) friend that I am, I’ve always taken a closer look when my friends have had their fillers and I’m not going to deny that I’m surprised the lengths some of them have gone to for ‘better’ lips. Two of my friends had fillers that left lumps in their lips – actual lumps that you could feel. And another friend had them done too much and cried afterwards when she realised how long she’d be stuck with lips that, quite honestly, looked too big for her face…
But we’ve all got features we don’t like, right? I know I have! So I understand that if you hated your lips, you’d want to change them – and fillers are now a much more affordable solution than ever before. However, there is zero chance I’d be putting a needle in my mouth. There’s only one person who’s allowed to do that, and it’s my dentist! But I have been wondering, are fuller lips for me too?
On the look out for ways to get a more impressive set of lips, I started hearing about the PMD Kiss device. I’ve used PMD products before – their Microdermabraision device is a fabulous way for getting facials at home and I still regularly use mine a year down the line. The PMD Kiss is their newest addition, and is basically a non-surgical alternative to getting fuller looking and feeling lips. It’s basically a tiny machine that you hold to your lips and it creates a vacuum that sucks your skin and effectively plumps it. Sounds nifty right?
Before you use the Kiss, you need to apply the PMD Smart Lip Plumping Serum, which is specially formulated to work with the device. You apply like a balm to the lips and leave it to soak in for a minute or so. It feels like a thick lip balm/gloss. After this you take the Kiss device, and hold it to your lips in sections. Ideally three sections on each lip – so six in total. The vacuum ‘pulses’ while in use and you hold it on each section for a recommended 15-20 pulses, before moving to the next bit. It’s really easy to use, there’s nothing complicated about it and it’s not an unpleasant feeling either.
Admittedly there is a sensation that comes with using the Kiss, I’d say a tingling feeling, but nothing painful. And you will notice that your lips look more red and rosy after you’ve used it – which is kind of the point! I have to admit that I wasn’t sure what to expect at first. But after the first use I was pleased to notice that my lips felt fuller and smoother. I would say there was a good amount of plumping and although my lips didn’t look bigger, they looked (and felt) fuller, which made my smile seem more even. This lasted for an hour or so after the first use.
PMD recommend using the Kiss daily for 4-6 weeks to see a longer lasting effect. The idea being that the mix of serum and the suction/pulsing encourages more collagen into your lips, which in turn leaves them looking fuller for longer. For me, after using this for over a month, the most noticeable thing I’ve seen is more even feeling lips – the lines in my lips have filled out and they feel softer overall. When I use the Kiss I do notice that my lips plump a lot more than at first too.
So overall what are my thoughts on the PMD Kiss? Well, if you’re someone like me who isn’t massively unhappy with their lips, but just wants to see a subtle improvement then the Kiss is for you. It’s not going to give you a trout-pout, but who wants that anyway?! The results you can expect to see are everyday fuller lips – they’re going to look and feel smoother and more full, but not necessarily bigger. Which is perfect for me. As I’m not someone who wants a massive pair of lips, I can say I’m very impressed with the PMD Kiss, and would recommend it to those who are also intrigued with getting a nicer set of lips naturally, without the need for needles.
