My Mum always told me that the eyes are the first place on your face to show the signs of aging and she was right. The skin around our eyes is the most thin part of our face and so it’s here that we show little lines forming first. I’m 30 this year and it’s only as that number approaches that I’m starting to inspect those laughter lines a little bit closer than I have done before – just to ensure that when the wrinkles do break through, I’ll be ready.
The one problem I do have at the moment with my eye area is my dark bags. I’ve never been one of those women who delights in pregnancy – I didn’t enjoy it last time and I’ve found it really hard again this time. I love being a Mum, but dang, pregnancy is hard! . The lack of sleep and combination of being tired all the time means that the skin under my eyes is looking grey and tired, and I’ve really noticed it more than ever before. I just feel like all the life has been sucked out of my under-eye area and it doesn’t take much more than a barely-there make-up day and suddenly people start asking if I’m feeling alright. Damn those under-eye bags.
So to combat the grey and try to revive my skin overall I’ve really upped my skincare game in the last few months. I’ve stuck to a dedicated multi-part skincare regime, invested more time than ever before wearing a face mask and I’ve also been taking better care of the under eye area. For this I’ve been using the Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme+ Global Anti-Ageing Cell Power Eye Gelee. It might have a long name but this little wand has made my eyes feel lovely and made me look forward to skincare time even more.
The Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme+ Global Anti-Ageing Cell Power Eye Gelee is a wand-like applicator with metallic tip that dispenses product to your eye area. The method of use is that you squeeze the product out onto the applicator and then apply directly to the eye, using the tip to blend it in using a massaging motion. Because the tip is metallic it’s got the most gorgeous and cooling sensation when you use it. It’s my favourite thing about using the Gelee overall! Every morning and evening I use this to de-puff my eyes and the cooling, massaging sensation is really relaxing and lovely. In the mornings I particularly love it because it wakes my eyes up and helps me start the day feeling fresh-faced.
The Gelee itself has also been really nice to use. It works to brighten the area under the eye and restore some life to the area. After using this twice daily for weeks I was pleased to notice that the grey was less prominent and the whole area looked softer and smoother, which improved the appearance of the grey as well. So overall you can actually see a lovely difference now. The skin under my eye looks more consistent with the rest of my face and it looks and feels more even in skin tone too.
I absolutely love this little wand, it’s given me targeted skincare for an area of my face I’d previously been neglecting a bit, and as a result it hadn’t been looking great. The cooling method of application absolutely makes this product for me and I would happily re-buy this just to keep getting that perk-me-up to my eyes every day.
I’m a big fan of the Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme+ range anyway and used some of the full face products last year, make sure you check out my thoughts here.
