When Bloggers Do Beauty – Pixi By Petra Spring 17 Collection
I absolutely love it when bloggers show the world just how talented and successful we can be. I love it when bloggers are given the opportunity to show that sometimes we’re more than just Instagram loving, lipstick hoarding girls with nothing better to do. Which is why I absolutely love it, and try to support it as much as possible when bloggers bring out their own product ranges. And the new Pixi By Petra Spring 2017 Collection is an absolutely stunning selection of products that are perfect for the season. And that showcase some of the best the blogasphere has to offer.
Pixi By Petra is one brand I have a lot of time for anyway because I’ve found their products to be really gentle on my skin, soft to use and great for friends who prefer the more subtle make-up look. Pixi manages to capture the quality of a good level brand but without overdoing it, and there’s something I find really reassuring about the products especially because the ingredients tend to be nice on the skin with little to worry about. Plus as a busy Mum to one (with baby number two on the way!) I’m always a fan of make-up to help me get out of the door quicker without scrimping on coverage and quality. Pixi products have always been lovely for that.
So the new Spring Collection was always going to be one to watch, especially because Pixi have collaborated with some of the biggest names in beauty vlogging and blogging to introduce their new season’s range.
I’ve been trying a couple of bits from the collection to see what I thought, the first of which was the Get The Look – It’s Lip Time Palette, which was made in collaboration with vlogger It’s Judy Time. A gorgeous lip palette featuring creamy lip shades from nudes to berry colours, there’s shades for everyone – it’s a really versatile palette. What I like about it though, is mixing the colours to make a custom shade. There’s been some big brands releasing lip palettes recently that give you the ability to create your own custom colour, and although this isn’t the primary use of the palette, it’s been really fun to give the new trend of home mixing a go. I must admit I was dubious about the depth of colour, because palettes sometimes seem weaker in colour payoff, but the shades in this had good pigmentation, making that colour mixing really easy. Plus it’s nice to be able to take a palette on the go and know I can touch up with whatever shade I want to.
The next two products I tried were the Glow-y Powders that were made in collaboration with Aspyn Ovard, a lifestyle blogger and vlogger. I must admit these powders have been a big hit with me because they have the smallest amount of shimmer in them. I’m not able to pull off heavy highlight, or the products that are so intensely pigmented with shimmer, so I look for more subtle highlighting powders. These are absolutely stunning because the shimmer is light and delicate. I’ve got the blush shade and London Lustre, which is a cream/ivory shade, designed specifically to highlight. Whereas the blush adds colour as well as highlight.
Both powders are really buttery, and I mean really. They’re almost creamy to touch, which gives great control when applying to the cheeks. With a subtle amount of glow, and a nice amount of colour payoff from the blush, these are delicate enough for all skin tones.
There’s quite a few other products in the Spring collection that are all worth checking out, and I’m once again really impressed with the quality of products in this blogger collaboration. Pixi never disappoint, and this collection is lovely, easy to apply and lovely to wear.
