As you all know I’m a big fan of contouring. In fact, I’ve got powders, creams and palettes galore offering different coverage levels and abilities. Mostly because I dislike how round my face shape is, and good contouring means I can create shadows that stop me feeling like it’s quite so circular. The palette I’ve been using recently is the brand new Clarins Face Contour Palette and I’ve got all the details and the low down on what to expect..
For starters, this cute little palette come with three powders that are universal in shade – so they’ll work for everyone, regardless of skin type or tone. Each palette comes with a matching application brush and an instructions sheet to help you know where to best apply each of the three shades. Each palette is housed in a cute little pale gold case with compact mirror inside – so it’s got everything you need for everyday contouring as you take it around with you in your make-up bag.
The three shades inside the palette are your standard highlight, contour and blush. What I like about this palette compared to others is that the shades don’t jump too much. Basically, they only step up in depth and shade slightly, meaning it’s great for natural and subtle contouring. I’m not one for the shades that are so dark they don’t blend, mostly because I’m quite fair skinned, but also because I like to keep things on my cheeks looking natural.
The highlighting shade emphasises the areas of light that need to stand out to create contrast with the shadows. It’s a pale creamy yellow shade that’s rich and easy to apply and blend. Described as a ‘radiance boosting’ powder, use this to illuminate as your starting point.
The contour shade is designed to create those shadows in places like the hollows of your cheeks and around the outside of the face. It’s great for minimising the size and shape of the nose too if you feel like that’s a problem. Again, it’s a rich velvet texture that blends well and is easy to use.
Use the blush to add a light and lovely pop of colour to the apples of your cheeks. This further enhance them and adds some colour to the face. A lovely rose-tinted shade, it’s a great everyday blush.
All of the powders in the palette are enriched with almond oil which is what makes them feel so soft when applied – it’s a very luxurious way of contouring! They feel beautiful when worn and light enough to feel like they’re not clogging your pores or contributing to oily skin. This luxurious palette offers powders that aren’t heavy on shimmer – thank goodness (I hate that!) and adds the quality that I’ve come to love from my staple Clarins products. It’s subtle and yet easy to wear shades mean it’s a fantastic everyday solution to contouring that I’ve loved this past month. It’s 100% worth every penny of the £36 price-tag and I’m a big fan of this as a powder contour lover.
