Too Faced Christmas Collection 2016 – Grande Hotel Cafe
Never before has a Christmas collection made me quite this excited…To be fair, pretty much all of the Too Faced collections make me excited. I’ve never been disappointed with their products and have a collection I’m pretty proud of. So when I saw that the theme of their Christmas 2016 collection was called ‘Christmas in New York’ – I knew I’d love it because it doesn’t seem like a couple of months since I was in New York on the trip of a lifetime!
The Too Faced Christmas in New York collection is compiled of five limited edition sets, three Christmas ornaments and a new shade of their Melted Matte liquid lipstick. And every single thing is uh-mazing. The collection is all pastel themed, with lots of cute colours and the packaging has a girlie and feminine vibe – cute and quirky. Which is everything I love about Too Faced.
My personal favourite in the range is the Grand Hotel Cafe. A limited edition set with three individual make-up palettes and a miniature sized Better Than Sex mascara. Themed like the New York Grande Hotel itself, it’s the sweetest set, and as per usual the quality doesn’t disappoint.
Each of the three palettes is themed and scented like a Christmas coffee. There’s Peppermint Mocha, Gingerbread Cookie and Eggnog Latte. Each palette has six eyeshadows and a co-ordinating cheek colour – two are blushes and one is a bronzer. The pigmentation of the colours is gorgeous as ever. The eyeshadows are a creamy powder that create great colour payoff. They’re not light and powdery, but heavy and impactful. There’s a good mix of mattes, shimmers and glitter finishes too, meaning you can create so many different looks with each palette.
The pale teal coloured palette has a nude spectrum colour theme, with an amazingly glittery shade that instantly transforms any eye look and makes it perfect for a night out. The ‘pop’ of colour shade is a dark green with shimmery finish, which when used alone has high colour intensity, but I’ve been loving using it as my crease shade – it looks gorgeous and very festive. The cheek colour is a peach tone shade, which compliments the eyeshadows perfectly.
The pastel pink palette – this one is all about the pinks, purple and rose tones. But with that funky side to the colours! All shades are all on the pink spectrum, but not on the warm side of it – which I love. Don’t get me wrong, I’m loving all the warm toned palettes around right now, but it’s nice to find a palette with pink in that’s not all about the warmth! With a purple shimmery shade as the bolder colour, there’s a perfect everyday pink blush to match.
The brown palette – this one is all about the warm tone nudes and browns, with lots of gold thrown in to match. This is a great everyday palette for me, because I love the nude tones and browns – they’re just so easy to wear. And the gold shimmer and glitter in the finishes adds something extra special to the palette. A twist on the everyday favourites. The matching bronzer finishes it off perfectly.
Each palette is perfectly co-ordinated and easy to wear. I love Too Faced palettes because the shades always create these amazing eye looks and the quality is so blendable. I’ve played around with all of these so much since I got them and haven’t been disappointed with the outcome once.
At £46 it’s well worth every penny, although it’s now getting hard to find. As with all Christmas collections from Too Faced, they sell out fast, so if you do find one then buy it quickly before it gets away! But it’s not just the Grand Hotel Cafe. I highly recommend the whole collection and I’ve asked Santa for pretty much everything else.
