A Walk Through My Favourite Jo Malone Scent – Wood Sage & Sea Salt
There are some brands that far surpass class, elegance and sophistication. So high quality are their products that they just stand there, taking pride of place on my dressing table, in front of everything else, strutting their elite stuff on the catwalk of my beauty room. These brands have the ability to stop you in your tracks as you walk past their stores, to lure you towards their displays and convince you to purchase new additions to your collection without a second thought. Such high regard for a brand and it’s products doesn’t come along very often – in fact we’ll all only have one or two of these brands who’ve never let us down, or who make us feel that tingle of class and elegance when we own their products.
For me, one of those brands is Jo Malone.
It wasn’t until this year that Jo Malone became more than a wish-list brand for me. But after I bought my first products, I was hooked and instantly wished I’d not left it as long to finally get some of their perfume. I started with Tuberose Angelica, which is one of their intense colognes, and it’s still a favourite of mine now. But the ultimate has to be Wood Sage and Sea Salt.
I was introduced to it by my lovely friend Leah at Devoted To Pink. Who I will be forever grateful to for making that introduction! The scent itself is absolutely beautiful. Described as one of their ‘woody’ colognes, it’s fresh and lovely – something I wear because it’s feminine and light but musky enough to be long lasting. I hate weak scents, so this lovely and fresh cologne is beautiful to wear because it sits nicely on the skin without fading too quickly. I only need one re-spritz mid way through the day and I’m good to go.
Jo Malone describe Wood Sage and Sea Salt to be an outdoors type of scent – head notes of ambrette seeds, with heart notes of sea salt and earthly base tones of sage for natural depth. Think of a day walking outside – cliff tops, fresh air…that sort of thing. But to me the scent is a little different to that…
To me, Wood Sage and Sea Salt is the epitome of femininity.
It’s light, womanly and beautifully delicate. I think less of walking outdoors and more like walking through the garden of a stately home, between the flower beds on a warm and sunny day. To me, that’s what Wood Sage and Sea Salt smells like. It’s utterly divine, classy and timeless.
It’s the perfect everyday scent for me and I’m getting through it at an alarming rate because it’s the bottle I’m reaching for the most at the moment! It’s at the front of my dressing table, standing proud and looking as pretty as it smells.
But not content with the cologne, Jo Malone create matching candles to their scents – and I can’t recommend them enough. The Wood Sage and Sea Salt candle adds a hint of sophistication to my home. That same class and elegance I love about wearing the perfume, is wonderful to have lingering slowly from room to room. It’s exactly the same, with femininity and loveliness – without being overpowering.
Each 200g candle in the Jo Malone collection has a burn time of approximately 45 hours – so it’s going to last through the winter and make your cosy evenings calm and relaxing. The strength and quality that you find in all Jo Malone products is equally as present in their wonderful candles, and after only 5-10 minutes burn time, the scent is already making it’s mark. Which is always the sign of a great quality scented candle.
First the cologne, now the candle. My love for Wood Sage and Sea Salt means I am desperate to try the Body and Hand Wash next…And while I’m at it, I might just ask Santa for the Body Creme too.
If you’re a Jo Malone fan, a bottle of their cologne is the original way to steal the scent-show and the candles are a wonderful way to further indulge the love of that favourite scent in a truly luxurious way. They make great gifts and the joy of a Jo Malone purchase means you can get a bottle of your favourite cologne and a matching candle, all gift wrapped in a trademark box with bow. Perfect for a really wonderful gift.
Have you tried a Jo Malone scent recently? What’s your favourite, or on your wish-list?
