When it comes to make-up, my all time favourite product is a good eyeshadow palette. Nothing beats a palette full of gorgeous looking eyeshadows all waiting to be used, mixed together and blended to your hearts content. The amount of looks you can achieve with a great palette is limitless and that’s why I’m a full blown eyeshadow palette addict – and proud to admit it! So it will come as no surprise that today’s post is dedicated to the eyeshadow palette that I’m loving right now, by one of my all time favourite brands, Too Faced. And the palette I’m talking about? None other than the Chocolate Bon Bons Eyeshadow Collection.
Beauty lovers around the world have adored the bestselling Chocolate Bar Collection that Too Faced launched, and the third palette in the series, the Chocolate Bon Bons Collection surpasses expectation. It’s just so pretty! As someone with a sweet tooth, I can fully appreciate everything about this palette from it’s packaging to it’s colour shades. It’s a chocolate lovers dream – did I mention it’s scented?! A gorgeous light and dusty cocoa scent hits you every time you open it! What more could a girl want then combining her two great loves: make-up and chocolate in one?
I never usually mention packaging in my posts, because quite frankly it’s irrelevant to me. Once removed, it’s in the bin and although it can be appreciated, it’s never a focus point that affects my buying decision. But the packaging of the Chocolate Bon Bons Collection is well worth a mention. The outer box looks like a chocolate wrapper and the palette itself is a pink metal case embossed with hearts and shaped like a wrapped bar of chocolate. Combine this with the gorgeous scent, and even just opening the palette is an experience that makes using it a lovely one – every time.
Colour wise the palette itself has 16 shades inside. Of that, 14 are brand new and never before seen and two are cult favourites and best sellers. The variation of colours is perfect because there’s a good mix of matte and shimmer finishes, meaning you can easily blend them together for the perfect look for both night and day wear. The palette shades are described as neutrals with a few brighter pops of colour that stops this being like every other neutral palette on the market. There’s such a big selection of colours, and it’s nice to see a palette offer both cool to warm tones in one – with four lovely bright colours to add a girlie and sweet loving pop. It’s like the best neutral palette, but way better.
The pigmentation of the shadows themselves is intense – especially the shimmers. They really do have an eye-catching kick that stands out – with or without eyeshadow primer. The depth of colour in all the shades is noticeable and I didn’t find any of the shades to be weak or ill performing. Meaning that the palette is hugely cost effective at only £37. Personal favourites would be Dark Truffle (bottom row, far left) as well as Molasses Chip (top row, third from right) and Cafe Au Lait (middle row, third from left.) However special mention has to go out to Black Currant (middle row, far right) for being a brown shade with purple tones and a special hint of shimmer that just makes me sigh with adoration. I’ve never been one to pull off plum tones, but this shade is something else – look out on Instagram in the next few weeks for a plum eye look using this gorgeous shade.
In fact, all the shades in the palette are wearable in my opinion. There really is something for everyone. You guys know how much I love a smokey-eye (because I talk about it all the time!) and bright colours aren’t my thing usually, but other than the bright pink Totally Fetch shade (bottom row, third from left) I will actually use all of these shades included in this palette. I might even try blending Totally Fetch with some of the darker tones to see what I can do with it, so I’m not even writing that one off yet. But as all make-up lovers know, how rare is it to find an eyeshadow palette that doesn’t contain a good selection of shades that will go untouched? I know that I won’t have this problem with the Bon Bons palette because the section of shimmer, matte, cool and warm tones means it will be easy and fun to wear all of these palette special shades.
Initially this palette was like gold dust when it came out a few months ago. Such was it’s popularity that you would struggle to get your hands on it – and I can absolutely see why. However if you want to get your hands on one, then I recommend that you order it from the Too Faced website directly. Mostly because they’ll have the most up to date stocks and they usually have a nice offer with either free postage, a free mini product or something else to add to your purchase.
So, let’s go through the list to analyse the palette:
Excellent pigmentation – check.
Beautiful array of colours – check.
Good selection of finishes – check.
Perfect nude and smokey eye abilities – check.
Looks pretty – check.
Value for money – check.
…and it smells like chocolate every time you open the lid. Check.
What more could a girl want? Nothing. And that’s why this palette is *drumroll please* one of my favourite palettes of 2016.
