My Top 5 Stila Products

When it comes to make-up, in my eyes there isn’t much that Stila can do wrong. Their products are some of my make-up bag staples and yet they continue to impress with their new releases. There’s nothing better for me than a make-up brand who get it right time after time – retaining their old trusty lines, but also introducing new products that raise the bar higher and higher.

So when I was writing this post, it was hard to narrow down to my top five Stila items, because over the years there has been so many! But five seemed like a good number, and even though I’ve had the privilege of trying some amazing Stila products recently, these are my Top 5… They’re the one’s that get top marks, that pull out the stops and give amazing results. They’re also the ones I find myself getting the most compliments when wearing, and the ones I recommend the most when asked about specific lip/face/eye products. So without further ado, here are My Top 5 Stila Products..

*drumroll please*

1. One Step Correct

This baby is my new everyday primer and I am thrilled with it’s arrival. I had been seeing this everywhere and had been desperate to try it out, so as soon as it arrived I was tearing open the box and trying it out – and I haven’t put it down since! I’m really into colour correcting right now, in fact I’d go as far as to say that I’m moderately obsessed with it. Mostly because when done right, my whole face worth of make-up looks completely different, and miles better. At first the prospect of putting green or blue anything on my face was confusing – why would I do that?! And when I did, I was warmly welcomed into the colour-correcting fan club…as it’s mild to moderately obsessed member.

This One Step Correct primer combines three colour correcting creams in one, which all act together as skin brighteners. There’s a green cream which neutralises redness – which is always what I want as I’m very aware of the red creases around my nose and mouth. Then there’s a lavender tone to combat sallow, dull looking skin and a peach tone to illuminate and combat the signs of sun spots etc – great for us freckly girls! The consistency is very creamy and smooth – not runny like liquid, but still very soft. It’s so easy to blend and because of it’s texture, you don’t even need one full pump for each application – meaning it will last for ages!

Wearing this underneath my normal foundation is perfect for me because it balances out my skin tone ready for the rest of my make-up. It’s like creating a perfectly, even coloured base. It’s very lightweight too and it doesn’t sit on top of the skin, but rather works into it but without blocking pores. Which means that it’s not going to make your foundation slip off, as some primers do.

My skin is more flawless looking when I’m wearing this, and it makes me feel a bit more confident too because I feel like if I’m starting my make-up regime with this, then I won’t go far wrong.

2. All Day Liquid Lipstick – Caramello

HOLD THE PRESSES! Yes, I mean it! This liquid lipstick is better than the Kylie Lip Kits! YES IT’S TRUE! I, like many others gave in to the hype and bought the Lip Kits in various shades a few months ago and was quite disappointed with how dry they left my lips. I’ve been searching high and low for the perfect nude and natural looking shade in a matte liquid lipstick finish. This is it.

Caramello is a nude that’s perfect to wear with any shade of eye or cheek colour. The depth of colour itself is also very intense, bold and hard to miss when worn! It’s a natural shade, it’s excellent quality and it doesn’t dry the lips out. Not at all. There’s no flaking around the edge, no drying affect that makes your lips feel like they’ve got an air conditioner blowing on them – no, this creamy texture is lightweight, easy to apply and an absolute pleasure to wear. I’m not sure if it’s the vitamin E or the avocado oil, but during and after wearing this my lips actually feel softer. The quality is excellent and it lasts for hours without the need for reapplication – meaning it’s perfect for wearing to work etc.

It’s better than a dupe – it’s an alternative – and I’m recommending it to everyone when they ask me about nude liquid lipsticks.

3. All Day Liquid Lipstick – Carina

Okay, so I know this might be cheating but my third favourite Stila product is also a liquid lipstick, in a different shade. This time it’s a bold fire engine red and it’s honestly the best red I’ve ever laid eyes on!

As with the above – the quality is excellent, and with this being a bold shade, the depth of colour is so much more than intense – it’s striking. There’s no missing your lips when you’re wearing this – you stand out a mile-off. But the creamy formula and lightweight nature of the lipstick means that it settles onto your lips beautifully. It doesn’t clog the outer line of your lips and again, it lasts for hours without the need for reapplication. I’ve tried lots of red lip products recently and this one still makes the top of the list.

4. Lash Stunner Extreme Lash Primer

How did I cope without using a lash primer? I know – I spent ages applying layer after layer of mascara until my lashes were so loaded they couldn’t take any more… It took far too long and it had a tendency to make my lashes clump together, which is never a good look. This primer has turned my mascara application from lengthy to quick and managed to give a better looking lash.

It’s a neutral brown shade, so it mimics the look of your natural lash – meaning everyone can wear this. My lashes are pure black, and my best friend has blonder lashes, and both of us have used this and achieved great results. The magic is in the lash fibres – there’s two types, one that works to deliver an extreme lash look, and the other that’s the soft wax and thickening agent that works to create the perfect shape.

I apply a couple of layers of this before mascara application and voila. It means you need less mascara because your lashes are already loaded and good to go. I like to think of it as the lingerie for my lashes.

5. Huge Extreme Lash Mascara

Naturally number five on the list, and following the lash primer, it’s the Huge Extreme Lash Mascara. This beautiful and thick mascara gives excellent coverage and fuller looking lashes. Combined with the lash primer it’s made my lashes look bigger, with more volume and yet created lash definition so that my individual lashes don’t clump together – hooray!

I love this mascara because you need very little of it to see a big affect! One or two coats over the primer (this is key) and you’re lashes look like you’ve spent hours curling and preening. Also, another reason this makes my Top 5 List is because there is no fall out – you don’t get any of those annoying bits that fall out during the day and no-one tells you it’s been on your cheek all the way through that really important meeting at work (just me?!) It’s also great for not smudging too much either. Once it’s on, the consistency stays on all day and you don’t get the droopy lash affect by 5pm.

If the primer is the lash lingerie, the mascara is the killer outfit.

So, those are my Top 5 Stila Products. What do you think? Have you tried any of these, or do you have other favourite Stila products? My personal opinion is that Stila is way underrated – I class them as a major player in the beauty stakes, and think everyone should be trying their make-up! I’m taking it as a personal mission to tell the world about how highly I rate the Stila products – especially these five! Check out the full collection here.
