February Favourites & New In Beauty

Whereas January seemed to drag and never end, February seems to have flown by doesn't it?! I can't believe how quickly it's passed because I feel like I still have so much to do before the month's out! But one thing I am very excited about is that the end of a month means one thing - monthly favourites and new in time! This month has been great for new bits and pieces across all areas of beauty. I've tried some fantastic goodies and can't wait to tell you about them all, so let's get cracking!

Styling Your Home To Match Your Personality

When it comes to my home, I'm quite restricted with how far I can go to making it cosy and homely - because we live in a rented house. I'm very happy in my current house and I've lived here for over five years, and we are currently saving for our own home. So until then we're happy making this house our very much loved first family home. Fortunately my landlord is very flexible with decorating and home styling - so long as we put everything back to the old basic magnolia before we eventually leave. Even though he's very understanding and happy for us to decorate, it's still a little bit restrictive when you don't own your own house. So styling my home has meant I've had to think carefully and wisely about how I do it and still make my mark.

Getting Great Nails & Lashes On A Budget

I may be a high-end beauty addict, but one thing I love about blogging is that it's really opened my eyes to the drugstore brands. The last few years has seen the rise of the drugstore ranges as they battle to recreate top-end products with a third of the price tag. I have so much fun trying out drugstore brands these days because the quality is far superior to back in my teenage days when they weren't as good. Nowadays drugstore brands really do measure up, and not only that, but they also sometimes even exceed in quality. When this is the case, I'm the first person to shout about it, because to me, if you can pay less and get more, then there's no need to splurge the extra cash.

Give Fragrance Not Flowers This Mother's Day

As a Mummy, Mother's Day is a really special day for me. Having two boys, I feel like I've hit the jackpot as I adore being their Mummy. But I am also a daughter myself, so Mother's Day is dual-sided for me. I like to make sure my Mum has a really special day, and knows how loved she is, while also enjoying the same feeling myself with my children. It's definitely become more of a balancing act to fit both sides in, which is why the gifts we choose to give on Mother's Day are so much more important for us.

New In From GlamGlow

GlamGlow Supercleanse, GlamGlow, Supercleanse, review, Glam Glow

You all know how much I rave about GlamGlow and I have worked my way through a lot of their gorgeous mud masks and started trying their daily skincare bits and pieces too. Last on my list was the Dream Duo Overnight Treatment and then suddenly GlamGlow were blowing my mind again as they released some great new products in close succession. Being the addict that I am, I couldn't not try out the newness could I?!

The Tri-Active Facial At Clarins Spa

Recently on Instagram you guys will have seen me take you through my trip to the Clarins Spa in John Lewis, Cambridge. I had the most amazing morning getting pampered, and I felt so incredibly relaxed and refreshed when I came out. Being full-on with the blog these days is really taking it's toll, so I was in huge need of a pamper, and the newly revamped Clarins Spa was perfect for this!

Making Your Own Perfect Perfume For Mother's Day

You guys know that I love perfume, in fact, I try so many of them out, and I love to tell you all about my favourites. I've really opened my eyes to fragrances since founding Lady Writes, and perfume has become so much more than just a smell. The right perfume can transform your mood, uplift your spirits and allow you to recall a distant memory in the blink of an eye (or rather, the spritz of the bottle!)

5 I Won't Rebuy

As a beauty blogger I am constantly trying new products out. I have Holy Grail products that I wouldn't ever do without, a stash of things I love to use from time-to-time and also a box of things I won't use often but can't throw out. Having such a large make-up and beauty habit means that I also sometimes find things that don't work for me, and I like to be honest about those products too. I'm not just going to chat about the good and the great, you'll always find honest opinions on products from me - even when I feel they don't measure up!

Living For The Summer With Maison Margiela Replica Beach Walk

Maison Margiela, Replica, Beach Walk, review

When it comes to fragrances and perfumes, we've all got our trusty favourites and our lifetime staples haven't we? Those one's we'll never be without, and the ones we buy now and again. However for me, in the last few years since I started blogging about beauty full-time, fragrances and perfume have become a much broader topic for me. Prior to beauty blogging, I used to have lots of well known brands of perfume on my dressing table. But nothing bespoke, nothing significant - not in the sense that it was out of the ordinary. (Although, I should say that some of these to this day are still my staples, so I'm not knocking them!) It's just that in the last two years especially, I've found a whole new dimension to fragrances - so much more than perfumes, for me, I've realised that a bottle of fragrance can mean a memory, a reminder or something emotional. Because perfume isn't just about smell - it's about evoking a feeling too.

Too Faced Peaches & Cream Top Picks

Too Faced, Peaches & Cream, Top Picks, review

When Too Faced released their Peaches & Cream collection last year, I swooned. No, actually I didn't swoon, I fell head over heels just at the sight of the range. I am a HUGE Too Faced advocate and I have SO much from them in my make-up collection. In fact, I probably have more Too Faced than any other brand in my whole hoard. Yes, I'm a hardcore Too Faced fan. So, anyway, when I saw the new Peaches & Cream range, I couldn't wait to try it out.

The Glossier Goodies You Need In Your Life

Glossier, review, make up, balm dotcom, primer,

Glossier launching into the UK was one of the biggest pieces of beauty news at the end of last year. Everyone went wild for the brand, and suddenly Glossier packages were popping up on every platform with eagerness. I'd never tried any of their products before, but quickly I wanted to. And not just one or two pieces - I wanted to try everything, because it all sounded so good! But being the beauty hoarder I am, I struggled to narrow down my choices. So I started reading reviews and listening to people's opinions on the best that Glossier had to offer. The result was that I tried a real arrangement of goodies and feel completely qualified to give my own humble opinion on where to start with Glossier. Which I hope will help others in turn to start their Glossier journey. Because quite honestly, you won't look back!

My Big Beauty Shopping Secret - How I save Nearly 20% On Make-up and Skincare!

make up haul, Fragrance Direct, Make up shopping

When it comes to shopping, nothing compares to make-up and beauty. I would rather treat myself to some new make-up or skincare than anything else. Even shoes. And I love shoes. I needed to do a bit of a beauty stock-up recently on some of my essentials and I also needed a few extra bits too - you know those months when everything seems to run out at once? Yep, it was one of those. And seeing as everyone always asks me how I manage to keep up with a make-up habit as large as mine (without having to live on baked beans every month) well, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to chat to you about Fragrance Direct  - A.K.A my biggest beauty secret!

Valentine's Day Treats - For Yourself

I spent many a Valentine's Day as a single lady, and quite a few as a single mama. So I'm always quite cautious at this time of year about Gift Guides and things. I've been the single girl who struggles with being on her own on Feb 14th, so I know how it feels. I am so lucky to have found the right man, and he was worth every painful and lonely Valentine's Day on my own - waiting for him was something I'd do again and again if he's the end-prize. (Pass the sick bucket, I know!) But that said, he's not really in to Valentine's Day. And with quite a lot going on, a Wedding to save for etc - we have decided that we won't really be celebrating. Maybe a card and a nice dinner at home, but no more than that. But he did say I could treat myself to a little something instead - told you he was a keeper! So that got me thinking to an alternative kinda Valentine's Day Guide. The sort that ALL women can enjoy, regardless of their relationship status! So here's my Valentine's Day Gift Guide: full of Valentine's Day Treats - for yourself...because you deserve it.

Bright and Bold With Sigma

sigma review, sigma creme de couture

It's time for me to talk about Sigma again! I love working on content with Sigma goodies because they're always so pretty. I first discovered the brand through their brushes - and was quickly captured. Their make-up brushes are used by artists all around the world and the quality is so high that you'll no doubt hear great things about them... After a while of using their brushes, I realised they also had a make-up line too. And that was it, Sigma won the last little bit of my heart.

Finding The Perfect Honeymoon Destination

honeymoon, bucket list honeymoon, dream honeymoon

As you all know, I got engaged in November, and while we're still deciding on the intricacies of our wedding (will we get married here or abroad?!) there is one thing that we have talked about more than anything - the honeymoon! My partner and I have very different holiday styles. He's all for the natural outdoors, and I love cities. But we both love beaches. So we're thinking about finding the perfect honeymoon destination that will tick all those boxes (or at least as many as possible!)
