January: New In Beauty & Monthly Favourites

Madison make-up, Madison make-up Berry Bold, Berry Bold Palette, ABH Modern Renaissance Dupe, ABH Dupe

January. The never ending month. The month that has seen more meme's created about it, than any other month of the year. And because January has been so damn long, we've all probably seen 2,567,434 of them in the past few weeks alone. But hurrah - the end is in sight! Which means many things... (payday included) but it also means that it's monthly favourites time too!

Girly Glam With ghd

When it comes to creating hair styles I'm all about the creative thought process - but I need a little help with the actual styling. I can create stunning looks and styles for all occasions - in my head. But actually creating them on myself can be a bit more tricky. Make-up is my thing, I can do that. Style it in my head and on my face, but hair? I'm not the most natural.

Sol de Janeiro - Brazilian Skincare... And THAT Bum Bum Cream!

If I say "Sol de Janeiro" you could be forgiven for not knowing which brand I'm talking about. But if I say "Bum Bum Cream" then you're likely to instantly know the product! With a name like that, most people have seen it, been intrigued by it and either tried it, or added it to their wishlist. Sol de Janeiro are the masters of Brazilian Skincare, and the creators of THAT Bum Bum Cream. And I think it could be my favourite Brazilian export...behind sugar obviously. (Did you know Brazil is the number one country in the world for sugar exports? See, don't say I don't teach you new things every day!)

5 Simple Ways to Relax

When it comes to relaxing, I seem to have lost my 'off' button. I don't know when this happened because when I look back over the past few years, I can't seem to locate a time when I found it easier to switch off! Maybe I've just been full-on for so long that I can't remember any other way, but hey! That's why I've been making a conscious decision to relax in the evenings and try my hardest to locate that 'off' switch!

My Experience With Migraine and Headaches

Something I have struggled with since the age of about sixteen is headaches and migraines. Before that age, I'd never experienced either, but by my mid-teens the headaches started, and gradually over the last fifteen years they've increased in frequency and severity. I avoid talking about my experiences with headaches and migraines because people think "Oh, she's just got a bit of a headache" but a migraine is far, far worse. At my worst, I've been admitted to hospital for my migraines and ended up in A&E on countless occasions because of how bad they get.

American Drugstore Beauty Haul

When it comes to drugstore make-up, nothing beats shopping in the States. Their drugstore brands outperform, price-bust and generally impress to the max. Some of their drugstore products are so impressive in fact, that to buy them here, you'll end up paying over the odds, often counter-brand prices. Mad eh? So while I was recently doing some American shopping online, I decided to treat myself to a bit of a drugstore haul, and I am SO glad that I did because almost everything has wowed me...

Multi-Masking With Temple Spa

Face masking is one of my favourite skincare things. Every single pamper session I have, contains at least one face mask. And I use face masks at least a few times a week. For me, a good face mask is like a hard-hit of skincare in no time at all, and seeing as I can't often have a full-on facial at a spa, doing a face mask or two at home is the best alternative.

The NYX Professional Make-up Must Have's For The Season

If you saw my Insta Stories before Christmas, you'll have seen the huge amount of NYX Professional Make-up goodies that were delivered to me. I was so incredibly grateful for the chance to try SO many of their wonderful products, especially because their Lip Vaults are giving everyone (me included!) ALL the feels at the moment! I mean, what make-up addict doesn't LOVE an entire vault full of her favourite lippies?! With so much in their standard ranges, and so many new releases before Christmas, there's been a whole host of things to try out. But I have created a definitive list to the must have essentials that you need from NYX this season...

Colourpop My Little Pony Palette: Real vs FAKE!

I've wanted to write one of these posts for SUCH a long time, and now that I have, I can see them becoming a regular thing on Lady Writes. Getting this post together has felt like a little project and I've really enjoyed it actually - just call me a make-up detective! I should start by saying that I've never used fake make-up products. Nor would I, and I certainly wouldn't recommend that anyone does. When you do your research into the types of things that end up going into fake make-up...well it's enough to make you feel ill. Seeing as fake make-up is created without any regulations, no guidelines and no real need to be created with care, products on the black market are likely to cause rashes and reactions - and worse. So it's not something I'd ever recommend wearing as an actual product.

Reasons Why Every Girl Needs A Bottle Of Marc Jacobs Daisy On Her Vanity

"Think little-black-dress, but in perfume variety." (Me.)

There are some perfumes and fragrances that seem to have been around forever and yet never get old. Fragrances that you may or may not have owned yourself, but you still recognize it on others when they wear it. There are just some fragrances that you don't get tired of, and that become cult perfumes...ones we all know and love. One of these that always comes to mind is Daisy by Marc Jacobs. So here's 10 reasons why every girl needs a bottle on her vanity...

Spectrum Glam Clam - The Prettiest Brush Set Out There

Okay, I'm not going to lie... I got the Spectrum Glam Clam because quite honestly, it is the prettiest brush set out there. I'm pretty sure we can all agree on that, can't we!? There's not many brushes that beat the Spectrum ones, but there are even fewer Brush Sets that will even come close to the Glam Clam. Especially when you combine their high quality and sheer beauty together!

Winter Skin Detox

Every January I recommend having a skin detox. By that, I mean using new and intensive, dedicated skincare for a month to cleanse of impurities etc. This gives the skin a month to declog and freshen up for the year ahead. Plus seeing as most of us are recovering from the cost of Christmas, we tend to spend a lot of time at home, so it's a no brainer that January is a perfect time to detox the skin.

My Huge Colourpop Haul!

Now before I start, I'm going to admit that I am a FULL Colourpop addict. I have a LOT of their products in my collection and am constantly making sneaky orders for more. I can't help myself! But I've never made quite as many as I did at the end of last year: making four separate orders in two months. Even for me, that's a lot! But what can I say? The Holiday Collections and new releases just kept coming and the Boxing Day sale was too good to miss with 40% off site-wide and a free palette, and free shipping. What's a girl to do other than shop-away?!

Five Reasons Why Shopping At World Duty Free Is Even Better Than You Think

Planning a holiday is fun isn't it? Getting everything ready, packing and that early morning dash to the airport. Even in the stress of remembering to pack adapters, and make sure the oven is switched off, it's all such a fun experience because you know...you're going on holiday! But the beauty lover in me doesn't just love the holiday part, in fact the airport shopping in World Duty Free is almost as good as the holiday!

Do The Lush Sleeping Products Really Work?

As someone with insomnia, I've spent a lot of time and money trying every single fad that comes around to try and help me get more sleep at night. I've always suffered with waking up early doors when I'm stressed or anxious - it's one of the first signs I start to show. But what I'm currently battling is sleeping fine until 2/3am and then basically being unable to get back into a deep enough sleep. Which means I wake up from light sleep every 30-40 mins until my alarm at 7am. As a result I feel exhausted when I wake up, which is no fun at all. So when I heard about the Lush sleeping products, I was instantly intrigued - do they really work?

How I'm Getting Organised With A Bullet Journal

The start of the new year gave me the perfect excuse I needed to start a new diary. I'm a sucker for crafting, scrapbooking and planning but I just really don't have the time to keep up with all of them these days. Between the kids, the business, the blog and the Mr, well I just don't have as much time for hobbies as I would like. I've also taken on so much in the last six months, most notably my new son Hayden who is now five months old, but also a whole new business and I'm full time blogging at the moment as well. So it's very full on! And trying to organise everything is a nightmare. Try finding a diary or planner that will help me keep track of everything I need to know for even just one of these areas is tricky, let alone a diary that would suit my needs for organising ALL of these areas together.

The IT Cosmetics Holy Grail's (Including THAT CC Cream!)

When I featured some IT Cosmetics goodies on my Instagram stories at the end of last year, I had a lot of messages and comments from people who were eager to hear about how the products performed. Most notably everyone wanted to know whether THAT CC Cream of theirs was as good as the hype. I've been using four of the IT Cosmetics products, all of which are their 'Holy Grail' goodies, including the CC Cream and I've really enjoyed testing them. I'm also really excited to finally tell you how I got on with them all!

Overnight Skincare - My Current Pick

All through my pregnancy and for the first few months after having my son, my skin was the best it's been in a long time. I had moments where I'd break out and have other skin issues, but as far as blemishes go, I was doing well. However now my son is five months old (nearly) I'm approaching that magic number of 6 months post-bubba. Which is typically when your hormones have settled back down after having a child. For most this is good, for me, not so much. As someone with PCOS and Endometriosis, my hormone levels are ridiculous and as a result, my skin really suffers. So the last few months have seen the return of some frustrating skin complaints...
