How To Texture Your Hair For Summer

If there's one look I love for summer, it's textured, beach waves. I have the finest hair known to man,  it's thin but long (ish) and I have to wash it almost everyday because as fine-haired girls know, the flat head look on day two post-wash, is not a good look for anyone... When it comes to creating texture in the hair, I've become a pro at finding the best (and worst) products to help. I like to think I've got a good stack of products that work for me, depending on what style I'm going for - one thing is for sure, all products do not work for all styles. So it's important to pick hair care products that will perform for your chosen style, otherwise you're likely to be disappointed.

Four Reasons You Need The Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette

When it comes to my seriously loved brands, Anastasia Beverly Hills is one of them. My collection has grown massively recently and that's all thanks to Cult Beauty who are stocking a massive amount of their goodies now - and I'm a sucker for a Cult Beauty haul! Most recently we all went gooey-eyed over the seriously gorgeous looking Soft Glam palette. The second I saw it, there was no doubt in my mind that I'd be adding it to my collection, and it hasn't disappointed at all.

There's A New Beauty Sponge In Town

When it comes to make-up tools, we all have our trusty favourites. We'll likely try new brands, new products and special tools for specific roles, but how often do we completely abandon our fail safe brands in replace of another? For me to replace a trusty product - whether a make-up applicator or product itself, it has to be outstanding. I've used a lot of amazing products over the years, but to push previous Holy Grail's aside and replace them, something has to truly shine and do it's job to an outstanding level.

Twenty Second Tan - With Tropic Skincare

QUICK THE SUN IS OUT AND IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE WARM!

Cue everyone swarming to beer gardens, wearing strappy tops and flip flops. When spring finally arrives in the UK, we embrace it like a long lost relative - grateful that Uncle Winter has gone for another year. For me that means one thing - it's time for the tan to come out. I naturally don't tan, I burn. Which is really annoying, so I have to rely on the fake-it-til-you-make-it method and use some form of fake tan. I've tried so many over the years, literally hundreds and some have been pretty good. But what I've never, and I mean never found, is a good facial tan. Multiple times last year I tweeted asking for good ones to try and each time I found moderate or badly performing versions. I usually just use a standard fake tan on my face, but it's so bad for the skin and wears off unevenly with the use of daily skincare. I really thought there was no wonder product out there to help give me a tan on my face...

What Social Media Has Taught Me Recently

As a blogger, I'm constantly online. To be honest, I'm more than a bit addicted to checking Instagram, scrolling through Twitter and generally logging online to see what's going on...even when I don't a.) actually care or b.) have the time. It's as much of an addiction as anything else and it can suck the joy out of life in an instant - or fill you with satisfaction just as quickly. When you're so invested in something, no matter what it is, your moods and emotions bounce off it. By this I should be even more brutally honest and say, your moods will often actually be dictated and commanded by it.

Top 5 Sheet Masks For Better Looking Skin

When it comes to pamper days and nights, I'm all about sheet masks. In fact, I'm all about any kind of face mask, but sheet masks are just so easy these days. Less mess by far and fab results - if you find the right ones. Sheet masks might mean you look a little bit like you're dressing up for Halloween for 15 minutes, but if you find a great one, you can guarantee it's worth the frightening 15 minutes for the glow you'll notice afterwards. I've been trying a lot of sheet masks recently, and some have been a huge hit, and others have delivered virtually no results. (I'm just being honest - not all beauty products do what they say on the tin folks!) However in my little testing sessions, I've found five absolute keepers - some of which I've already rebought several times over. So here's my top 5 sheet masks for better looking skin...

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance vs The Dupes: Which Is REALLY Best?

When it comes to eyeshadow palettes, the cult ones never get old, do they? I'm talking about the ones that even years down the line are still as popular as when they first launched. The ones that sit just in shot on Instagram pictures, and the ones that are constantly replaced when you hit pan on your favourite shades. There's just some palettes that deserve it and their cult status. And one of the most obvious is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance.

Two Minute Beauty Time - Filorga Time Flash Express Smoothing Active Primer

My new Two Minute Beauty Time series starts today - woohoo! Basically I've done a lot of reading recently on marketing, social media trends and things like that...yes, I'm that cool. And one of the main communication trends these days is that people want and need info in a fast and concise way. We log online or onto social media for what we're looking for - whether it's a browse, a catch up or a specific piece of content, but we want it delivered quickly. There's so much choice out there these days and I wanted to work on a new mini-series of weekly posts where I'll be focusing on ONE beauty product that's blown me away. It will be quick, punchy and informative. (I hope!)

A Crown Brush Walk Through

When it comes to beauty, I'm a counter brand taste with a penchant for drugstore too. Basically I love all cosmetics - from the very high end products to the drugstore staples constantly bursting onto the market. No more are the high end brands ruling the roost, drugstore brands are producing goodies with that x-factor we make-up addicts love - but at a fraction of the price. Suddenly they're on an even par and I love it, it's like there's a competition where there wasn't really a competition at all before.

Getting Perfectly Straight Hair With DAFNI

When it comes to doing my hair, I need something that's quick and easy but does a great job. I'm always on the go, and as someone with fine hair, I have to style it everyday. I've always washed my hair everyday - until recently. And I know everyone says that's really bad on the haircare scale of things, but if you're someone with very fine and thin hair (like me) then you'll know that there's no other way round it. Being so active and full on (and having the school run first thing!) now means I'm trying to switch to every-other day washing, at least for half of the week. Because my hair is so fine, I absolutely can't wear it down on the non-wash day because it's so flat, and have to result to dry shampoo and some sort of up-do....and hope for the best. For me, if I want styled hair then I need to wash it. And then we're talking about an extra half an hour a day...which all adds up in the morning rush...

Fresh Launches At World Duty Free

A skincare brand I'd been wanting to try more from this year was Fresh. Having only tried a select few products from their vast range, it was one brand on my list to try more of. For me, the thing I love about their brand is how delicate and feminine their products look and feel. There's something elegant and timeless about the way their products look, combined with natural ingredients and well researched methods, that fill me with ease about using anything from Fresh.

Newness From Stila

Stila have really made their mark in the last few years haven't they? Their Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Shadows blew everyone away. Suddenly glittery eyelids with no mess were easily achievable. No more stray pigments on the cheeks, no fall out - the Magnificent Metals made themselves a cult product in no time. With their amazingly good value Eye For Elegance Christmas Set selling out faster than expected, suddenly there was even more demand for their products. Stila, you got it majorly right with these!

Too Faced Chocolate Gold Palette

When it comes to Too Faced, I say time and time again how much I love their brand. One of my all time favourites, their eyeshadow palettes especially, blow me away. I have the biggest collection of Too Faced eyeshadow palettes - in fact, I have more of theirs than anyone else. Shows how much of a fan I am! But when it came to the Chocolate Gold palette, I knew I'd be on to another winner.

Are WE The Actual Problem With Instagram?

When it comes to blogging, one thing you'll hear time and time again, is the heart cry of many a blogger who just can't understand why their recent Instagram post didn't do as well as they hoped or expected. The collective wail when we've painstakingly spent hours getting just.the.right.shot, edited it and posted it with a pang of hope and a smile on our face....just for it to barely scrape the barrel in terms of our regular likes. If you're a blogger or influencer, you'll feel this on an emotional level. I've been relieved to hear from Norvina (daughter of ABH) that even they are struggling with Instagram right now - often calling them out on why the platform just isn't performing like it used to. At least we could take comfort in knowing that everyone is in the same boat, right?

Spring Beauty Blender Classics

I love the change in the seasons because it means it's time to upgrade and switch up my make up and beauty regime. Not only do my colours of choice change up and I experiment with more pastel shades on my nails, but I also switch up my skincare too. But another thing I always change up in the spring is my make up tools. After seriously applying deep make-up during winter, spring means it's time for some new Beauty Blenders!

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Soft Wear Matte Foundation For Pale Skin

When it comes to Fenty Beauty, one of the products I hear the most chatter about, is the foundation. And yes, pretty much all the chatter is good. Fenty Foundation launched onto the scene with the widest selection of shades and put to shame many other brands who had been established for decades. Suddenly this new make-up brand had corrected something that had been a problem for ages - finding foundations to suit every type of skin shade. Because why should your skin colour dictate what make-up you can (and can't) get or wear?

25 Things You Can Buy Instead Of An Eyeshadow Palette

As a make up hoarder, my favourite type of make-up is an eyeshadow palette. I have more than I can count but I love them all and adore them with equal love. Although eyeshadow palettes are my favourite, I have a hefty and constantly growing collection of every other type of make-up too. In fact, my current lipstick collection is getting quite out of hand now. Especially since I had to buy a whole extra set of make-up drawers just to house them all. When I think about the value of my make up collection, I'm quite ashamed to say it's almost the same as my engagement ring...the one my partner had custom made for me. Yes, my make up collection is huge, ever growing and a slight obsession.

"On Wednesdays, We Wear Pink" Spectrum x Mean Girls

Mean Girls. Still one of the greatest chick-flicks ever made. I loved it then, and I love it now. And if I ever have a daughter, we'll be watching it together in her teens. It's like a right of passage as a teenage girl isn't it?! I feel like every girl lives vicariously through it as it features the full spectrum of teenage troubles...with some amazing one liners thrown in along the way. One liners so good we still use them now. And if you don't, well, "Boo, you Whore."

The Spring Skin Edit

Let's pretend that it's actually what it's supposed to be right now - SPRING! Because I'm sure she's right around the corner, waiting to lavish us with blossom, sunshine and tulips...That's what I keep telling myself anyway! Either way, spring will be here soon and it's time to transition out of our winter skincare for some more spring appropriate products.

How Time Flies

Anyone else wondering just where this year is going? Because, ME! After the never-ending month that was January, this year has made up for it by speeding past at the speed of light and suddenly we're in spring - almost. (If someone could just let the weather know this, that would be grand.) We're midway through March, halfway through Lent and almost at Easter Bunny visit time. WHERE IS THIS YEAR GOING?!

No quicker had this arrived in my hands, than I had fallen in love with it. It's been a while since I tried a new Benefit powder - sticking to my trusting Hoola as a creature of habit, I've been waiting for something like this. I just didn't know it. So when it arrived, it set my heart ablaze, which is coincidental because it looks like actual fiery gold...

How To Take A Great Selfie (And An Extra Special Competition!)

selfie, light up phone case, LuMee

When it comes to taking a selfie I am actually really shy. Scream, horror, yes, I know. A blogger who hates having their photograph taken! Eek, I just broke the mould didn't I?! However this year has been the year I decided to start changing my self-conscious issues, pull out some confidence and embrace my ability to stand in front of a camera. Short of paying someone to follow me around all day and take my picture, it's up to me to take Insta-worthy selfie's that I like, and will make me feel more confident about having my photo taken. With that said, there's some really simple tips that help with capturing the best possible selfie. So even if you don't feel confident, you can look it!

Current Top 5 Picks From Cult Beauty

When it comes to beauty shopping, I would say I spend a big chunk of my time and money at Cult Beauty. In fact, I say it's the 'UK online beauty mecca', because you can get all the best brands and products there and I swear they have the fastest posting times of any beauty brand I've ever worked with! No seriously, my orders always arrive the very next day, no matter what time I place an order - it's fantastic and compared to so many others, Cult Beauty top their delivery times but a lot! Plus they stock all of my favourite brands in one place, so I don't need to shop around, just place one order each time for all my wish-list bits as well as my essentials.

There's so many beauty box subscriptions out there aren't they? It can often be really hard to find the right ones for you. I'm fortunate enough to have tried almost all of the current UK versions and a few great selections from abroad. Some have been a big hit, and others a total flop. That's just me being honest. But one I love, and feel is underrated, is Roccabox.

My Journey To Whiter Teeth

My main mission this year is to sort my teeth out. I have spent my entire life hating my teeth and feeling so self conscious about them, but I've never been able to afford to have them sorted out. When I say sorted out - I have overlaps and an overbite, and I just hate the fact that all the women in my family have a 'fang' tooth that sticks out. Stupidly I avoided a brace in my teens, and really regret it now. And with a wedding on the horizon and the thought of my wedding photo's showing me too afraid to smile with my mouth open - well, I finally took action. This year I'm working with some amazing brands and finally I'm taking control of something that's made me embarrassed for years. The first step in this journey was to whiten my teeth and give them a great colour that would boost my confidence levels.

Too Faced White Peach Palette

I spend a lot of time talking about Too Faced - they're one of my all time favourite brands and I have been head over heels with their Peach ranges over the last year. First there was the Sweet Peach collection, then came Peaches and Cream, which if I'm totally honest, blew my mind. It exceeded all my expectations and became not just one of my favourite ever Too Faced ranges, but one of my all time favourite ranges, ever. There's something that gets me about a whole themed collection, and Too Faced don't do things by half, so when I saw it, I loved it and now have pretty much the entire range in my TF Collection.

Everyday Lash Essentials

Lashes are in my opinion one of the most important parts of our make-up routines. Good looking lashes can take you from a 2-10 instantly - that's how pivotal they are. Even when I'm going bare faced, I'll always have put something on my lashes before leaving the house. Seeing as the eyes are the window to our souls, why wouldn't you frame them?! Which is always my excuse when I buy more mascara or false lashes. No-one wants to be looking into a dull window right?! ...I'm joking, but seriously, good lashes will transform your whole face.

Why Now Is The Right Time To Introduce Collagen Skincare Into Your Regime

Collagen. One of those beauty ingredients that everyone hears about but few know whether it would be right for them or not. Lots of people will see the label of a product including collagen and snap it up and hope for the best. Not that there's anything wrong with buying like this (I'm a sucker for impulse buys myself) but there's so much to understand about collagen based skincare. Surely it's better to know about how it works, why it's used and how to use it for the best possible benefits? Which is why I want to debunk some myths and set some home-truths about the skincare wonder ingredient.

Without doubt, one of my favourite premium brands is Anastasia Beverly Hills. I am obsessed with pretty much everything they make and I'm shamelessly addicted to their palettes. So addicted in fact, that I made my own in Sephora last time I was in New York and I treasure it like a baby. My aim is to own every single eyeshadow that ABH do! As far as their products go, they are some of the highest performing I own, and the only down side is that we can't get them as easily here in the UK as you can elsewhere. *sobs*

Haircare To Transition From Winter To Spring

Yes, we may be in the midst of a major snow storm and blizzard right now, but seeing as we started March yesterday, I'm still holding on to the hope that spring won't be far away. For me, spring is a much welcome time of year - it's warmer, brighter and less oppressive all round. It also means my beauty regimes can switch up and move away from heavy duty to something more light as more sunshine and things mean you need less SOS products and more Natural products. Or so I find anyway. This can be particularly true with our haircare regime. Transitioning from winter to spring means we can introduce some new and more seasonal items to get our hair through that tough transition and come out in spring looking healthy and happy!

Give The Gift of Good Sleep

One thing I think most of us notice as we get older is the way our sleep patterns change. From full blown insomnia to things like night sweats, unsettled sleep and restless legs...well, sleeping becomes a lot harder when you're older! Some people suffer with bad sleep for no real cause, some are just light sleepers, and some could be caused by stress, illness and the inability to relax. It can vary from person to person, but one thing I know personally is that when I am stressed or I'm working hard, my sleep is the first thing to be affected. I take after my Mum in this sense because she is the same, and so is my Dad.

Styling Your Home To Match Your Personality

When it comes to my home, I'm quite restricted with how far I can go to making it cosy and homely - because we live in a rented house. I'm very happy in my current house and I've lived here for over five years, and we are currently saving for our own home. So until then we're happy making this house our very much loved first family home. Fortunately my landlord is very flexible with decorating and home styling - so long as we put everything back to the old basic magnolia before we eventually leave. Even though he's very understanding and happy for us to decorate, it's still a little bit restrictive when you don't own your own house. So styling my home has meant I've had to think carefully and wisely about how I do it and still make my mark.

Getting Great Nails & Lashes On A Budget

I may be a high-end beauty addict, but one thing I love about blogging is that it's really opened my eyes to the drugstore brands. The last few years has seen the rise of the drugstore ranges as they battle to recreate top-end products with a third of the price tag. I have so much fun trying out drugstore brands these days because the quality is far superior to back in my teenage days when they weren't as good. Nowadays drugstore brands really do measure up, and not only that, but they also sometimes even exceed in quality. When this is the case, I'm the first person to shout about it, because to me, if you can pay less and get more, then there's no need to splurge the extra cash.

Give Fragrance Not Flowers This Mother's Day

As a Mummy, Mother's Day is a really special day for me. Having two boys, I feel like I've hit the jackpot as I adore being their Mummy. But I am also a daughter myself, so Mother's Day is dual-sided for me. I like to make sure my Mum has a really special day, and knows how loved she is, while also enjoying the same feeling myself with my children. It's definitely become more of a balancing act to fit both sides in, which is why the gifts we choose to give on Mother's Day are so much more important for us.

5 I Won't Rebuy

As a beauty blogger I am constantly trying new products out. I have Holy Grail products that I wouldn't ever do without, a stash of things I love to use from time-to-time and also a box of things I won't use often but can't throw out. Having such a large make-up and beauty habit means that I also sometimes find things that don't work for me, and I like to be honest about those products too. I'm not just going to chat about the good and the great, you'll always find honest opinions on products from me - even when I feel they don't measure up!

Living For The Summer With Maison Margiela Replica Beach Walk

Maison Margiela, Replica, Beach Walk, review

When it comes to fragrances and perfumes, we've all got our trusty favourites and our lifetime staples haven't we? Those one's we'll never be without, and the ones we buy now and again. However for me, in the last few years since I started blogging about beauty full-time, fragrances and perfume have become a much broader topic for me. Prior to beauty blogging, I used to have lots of well known brands of perfume on my dressing table. But nothing bespoke, nothing significant - not in the sense that it was out of the ordinary. (Although, I should say that some of these to this day are still my staples, so I'm not knocking them!) It's just that in the last two years especially, I've found a whole new dimension to fragrances - so much more than perfumes, for me, I've realised that a bottle of fragrance can mean a memory, a reminder or something emotional. Because perfume isn't just about smell - it's about evoking a feeling too.

The Glossier Goodies You Need In Your Life

Glossier, review, make up, balm dotcom, primer,

Glossier launching into the UK was one of the biggest pieces of beauty news at the end of last year. Everyone went wild for the brand, and suddenly Glossier packages were popping up on every platform with eagerness. I'd never tried any of their products before, but quickly I wanted to. And not just one or two pieces - I wanted to try everything, because it all sounded so good! But being the beauty hoarder I am, I struggled to narrow down my choices. So I started reading reviews and listening to people's opinions on the best that Glossier had to offer. The result was that I tried a real arrangement of goodies and feel completely qualified to give my own humble opinion on where to start with Glossier. Which I hope will help others in turn to start their Glossier journey. Because quite honestly, you won't look back!

Valentine's Day Treats - For Yourself

I spent many a Valentine's Day as a single lady, and quite a few as a single mama. So I'm always quite cautious at this time of year about Gift Guides and things. I've been the single girl who struggles with being on her own on Feb 14th, so I know how it feels. I am so lucky to have found the right man, and he was worth every painful and lonely Valentine's Day on my own - waiting for him was something I'd do again and again if he's the end-prize. (Pass the sick bucket, I know!) But that said, he's not really in to Valentine's Day. And with quite a lot going on, a Wedding to save for etc - we have decided that we won't really be celebrating. Maybe a card and a nice dinner at home, but no more than that. But he did say I could treat myself to a little something instead - told you he was a keeper! So that got me thinking to an alternative kinda Valentine's Day Guide. The sort that ALL women can enjoy, regardless of their relationship status! Bright and Bold With Sigma

sigma review, sigma creme de couture

It's time for me to talk about Sigma again! I love working on content with Sigma goodies because they're always so pretty. I first discovered the brand through their brushes - and was quickly captured. Their make-up brushes are used by artists all around the world and the quality is so high that you'll no doubt hear great things about them... After a while of using their brushes, I realised they also had a make-up line too. And that was it, Sigma won the last little bit of my heart.

Finding The Perfect Honeymoon Destination

honeymoon, bucket list honeymoon, dream honeymoon

As you all know, I got engaged in November, and while we're still deciding on the intricacies of our wedding (will we get married here or abroad?!) there is one thing that we have talked about more than anything - the honeymoon! My partner and I have very different holiday styles. He's all for the natural outdoors, and I love cities. But we both love beaches. So we're thinking about finding the perfect honeymoon destination that will tick all those boxes (or at least as many as possible!)
