When it comes to make-up, you all know that a good smokey eye is my favourite. I love to wear a lot of greys, blacks and neutral shades on my eyes to create a bold and sultry look. The finished style is always worth the time and precision that's necessary to achieve a smokey eye, but it's not an easy look to achieve without the right tools. Eyeshadow fallout can be a nightmare, shimmer shades can shed their glitter in all the wrong places, and well, lets not talk about the black-eye look that can occur if you don't blend properly. That's why it's so important to have the right tools for the job - and I swear by my long standing staples from one of the worlds best - Sigma.

When I first heard that Urban Decay were collaborating with Disney to create a limited edition range for the new film, Alice Through The Looking Glass, I was more than a little bit excited. I've grown up on Disney and I still spend hours watching my childhood favourite films with my little boy. Nowadays I'm a little more in to make-up (just call me an addict) than cartoons, but Disney will always have a special place in my heart. So when this range was announced I was eager to try it because it was combining two of my heart's favourites - Disney and make-up. Want more could a girl want?

It's that time of year when us ladies are starting to get our legs out. And if you're anything like me, this can be a tad traumatic. Suddenly the comfy days of jeans and trousers are banished as we welcome skirts and summer dresses to the wardrobe again. Don't get me wrong, I love summer and summer fashion. But one thing I don't like is the constant shaving and waxing that needs to happen to keep my pins looking and feeling soft and hair free. Men really do have it easy don't they?!

I'm 28 and although I'm terrified about reaching the big 3-0 next year, I've actually enjoyed my late twenties far more than my earlier ones. I think it's because the older we get, the more comfortable with ourselves we become. Heck, maybe we all just chill out?! I know I have.
I've also found that in my late twenties I've learned far more than I did when I was in my younger ones, and maybe that's because I've just accepted more about myself, my life and my surroundings. This life stage has taught me far more than any other and if that's a sign of things to come then I genuinely look forward to what 30, 40 and beyond brings. However there are some lessons that didn't take root until my late twenties, things that feel particularly poignant to this age. Things like...

When it comes to my hair I am more than a little bit precious. I've had long hair, short hair, blonde hair, brown hair...and yet, no matter what the style or shade, the most important thing is keeping it as healthy as possible. However it wasn't always like that for me. I had beautiful long hair when I was in my late teens, and my style of choice was poker straight hair - which I achieved by over straightening it. This is all well and good until no protective sprays or hair TLC means that the ends actually go white because they are so dry and brittle..which isn't a good look on anyone, especially a natural brunette. My friends started commenting on how awful the ends looked - that's when you know that it's bad - when someone else notices your horrifically and depressingly split ends. When I did go to the hairdresser I had to have so much cut off, that it gave me a kick up the backside when it came to hair care and ever since then I've made sure to invest that little bit of TLC that my hair needs.

Yesterday I was so excited to be invited to The Good Ship Benefit to exclusively try the brand new Benefit Brows Collection ahead of it's full launch on June 24th. There's a lot of chatter about this launch in the beauty world because it's Benefit's biggest ever launch - there's 9 brand new products and some extra tools in the range, all of which are designed to make sure your brows are the fleekiest around.

When it comes to skincare and beauty, I spend more than a small fortune on the products I love. Throw in all the products on my never ending Beauty Wishlist and well, I'd be broke and living on toast for the whole month. But hey, at least my skin and make-up would look fabulous right? Sadly as I am an actual grown-up with responsibilities (namely my five year old blonde) I have to budget my beauty spends. Which is a real pain right now, when just about every brand I love is introducing new ranges, limited edition products and special rewards for purchases. However, the sensible life prevails and budget I must, so budget I do...
But I have a secret. A really juicy one...

When it comes to make-up, I’m a full blown obsessive... I love make-up and all things beauty, and I don’t care who knows! *waves sign telling the world* I’m constantly reading about new products (and buying them – eek) and I regularly have a YouTube binge and watch countless make-up tutorials from bloggers, vloggers and make-up artists from all around the world. I make most of my make-up buying decisions based on what I read or watch, and that’s because I value the word of those who I class as 'experts' in beauty. I love that so many make-up artists take to blogs and vlogs to share their secrets with the world because it makes me – a mere make-up mortal – feel like I’m learning tricks of the beauty trade. Kind of like joining an elite gang and being in the know-how. *Sassy finger snap*

It's only as I've got older that I've become more career driven. I'm very selective about the terminology I use here because I don't want to give the wrong impression - my career is not my top priority. As a mother, nothing will ever be more important than raising my son. However as I've got older, my career has overtaken many other things on my priority list and it's now residing quite near to the top.

One of the things that I’m quite precious about is my nails, and I rarely go without something on them. My little treat to myself used to be having a gel manicure every 3-4 weeks and indulging in some fabulous fingers. However the friend of mine who used to do my nails had a baby recently, so in the last few months I’ve been exploring other options to keep my nails looking fabulous. It’s important to me that my nails look nice because I made a promise to myself a few years ago that no matter what, no matter how busy life gets or how preoccupied I am, I will always make the time to look after my nails – as a little treat: To Me, From Me.

So April has been a HUGE month for me for many reasons...not to mention that I got published on Thought Catalogue and I finally paid the last instalment on my trip to New York in August - which is a big relief financially, but also means that I can now start to get really excited! It's been an awesome April, and I would usually write a round-up post when a month has been particularly eventful. However I'm switching things up this time and focusing on one of my biggest loves to help deliver this months round-up style post...
