The Perfect Autumn Eye Palette - Smashbox Full Exposure

It's that time of year - the leaves are starting to change colour, the evenings are drawing in and the sunshine is just about preparing to say it's goodbyes for this year. It can only mean one thing...autumn is right round the corner. For me that means fluffy socks, slippers, knitted blankets and cosy nights in with a big mug of tea and lots of candles. I'm a fully fledged autumn lover. It also means that I start to mix up my daily make-up look, in favour of new autumnal looks in warm and golden shades.

The change in season doesn't just mean we swap bikini's for big jumpers, but also that we swap the bright lips for deeper shades, and if you're like me, you move towards different eyeshadow looks too. I've been trying out some new shades for the autumn with the Smashbox Full Exposure palette, which I can hand-on-heart say is the perfect palette for autumn and a must-have for beauty lovers this fall. Just look at the colours *swoon*

This palette has a lovely mix of both matte and shimmer finishes - which is perfect for me because I use mattes as my base and transition shade, but always rely on a shimmer for the main lid...I'm a creature of habit, and I rarely stray from this, what can I say?! Not only does it have a great mix of finishes, its colour selection is on point. There's nude shades, warm golds, as well as darker shades almost on the black spectrum. You won't need any other shades to complete your autumn looks because it's got everything you need. And the colours just remind me of autumn, so it's a no-brainer that this palette is my pick for the fall.

I love that the colours give a great selection for both daytime and evening looks. I always have a smokey eye look going on, although I'm finding myself using warmer and warmer shades nowadays - so this palette is perfect. It means I can achieve a daytime smokey look, and also a great sultry smokey eye and more glamorous look for the evenings too. The darker shimmer shades are absolutely heavenly - the level of pigmentation is so high and the shimmer really pops on your lids. (For best results remember to pat on, and not rub or blend in.)

The palette also comes with a #ShapeMatters guide, which helps to talk you through different looks for different eye shapes. It gives you a breakdown of how to apply the shades, where to apply them and how to achieve the right sort of shading. It's really helpful and a lovely addition.

Unusually for the picky beauty blogger in me, there's not one shade in this palette that I wouldn't use. I honestly can't think of the last time that happened, because there's usually one or two colours that I can't make work for my colouring. But the colours in this palette are all completely useable. Which means it's excellent value for money at £38.50.

The quality of Smashbox products is something I rave about quite a lot. Their products are used my make-up artists and the more I learn about make-up and beauty as a blogger, the more I learn that it's not just about the brand, the title or the pretty packaging - it' about the quality. And if professional make-up artists swear by something, then that's good enough for me! The key thing about Smashbox products is not just the well regarded brand, the fab packaging or anything else but rather that the quality is top notch, and the shadows in the palette are evidence of that. There's little fall out and the texture is light and creamy while still remaining powdery. They are so easy to blend and they have real staying power - I don't need to reapply throughout the day, great for on the go.

I would also say that's been down to the 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer because oh-baby does this stuff hold your eyeshadow in place! It's a cream like texture that you apply to the lids before putting your eyeshadow on. I apply mine with my fingers but I guess you could also apply yours with a brush. I apply a tiny layer and it smooths out the lines on my lids and creates a soft and level foundation for the eyeshadow. If you don't yet use an eyeshadow primer - why not? We prime before foundation, so why not our eyeshadow?

This primer stops eyeshadow bleeding as it holds in place all day with no smudging or clumping (don't you just hate it when your eyeshadow clumps into the creases on your lids and you're left with lines across your lids?!) It's also been great for this humidity because it's kept my eye make-up in check - thank God! My personal favourite part of using this though is how it makes my eyeshadows pop. Eyeshadows are my favourite make-up and suddenly shades I'd already been in love with, now pop with colour intensity just that little bit more. Meaning I'm loving them all over again. It's amazing how a little bit of prep - or prime in this case - can do that!

So for autumn if you're looking for smokey eyes, sultry glamour and great nudes (oo-er) in matte and shimmer finishes then this is a palette I am highly advising you invest in. You can get it from Smashbox directly.

Will you be giving this palette a go for autumn?
