How I Contour & Highlight My Cheekbones

It's no secret that I love a good contouring powder, and despite having oily skin, I'm a big fan of highlighters too. I mean, who can resist those sparkly pots of shimmer? I've tried quite a few different ones this past year, but my fail-safe routine, the Step-By-Step Contour Stick Trio from Smashbox, has always been there to fall back on - like a trusty friend who never lets you down. And as a result, I happily re-buy time and time again.

Beauty Pie - The New Make Up Buying Revolution?

Rewind to mid-December and the most stunning black box landed on my doorstep. Wrapped in matching bow, the embossed top simply said 'Beauty Pie' - the only clue as to what was inside. Like opening a beautifully wrapped Christmas gift, I took care in revealing the contents, unsure of what I'd find. Inside was a gorgeous array of beauty essentials in simple packaging and some information which I was intrigued by straight away...

December Favourites

With Christmas now done and dusted for another year, the turkey leftovers just about finished and the presents have almost found their way from the lounge where they were unwrapped, to their new homes in the rest of the house, it seems like December is just about over... So with the festive season just about wrapped up (see what I did there?!) it was time to wrap up my December Favourites too. And with some pretty cool products gracing the list this month, I've been excited to showcase some of my monthly favourite's...

My Top Pick From Benefit This Christmas - Gals Just Wanna Have Fun

It's been a while since I featured Benefit here on the blog, but they're never far from my daily beauty routine because I use their new Brow Range products every day. Having used Benefit since I was a teenager, I'll always enjoy their products and can fully appreciate their girly and fun designs and styles. Plus, the products perform so well that it's rare I've ever been disappointed with a Benefit product.

A Walk Through Illamasqua Chisel and Glow Gift Set

I've been desperate to try Illamasqua products properly for a while.

I'm always so drawn by their perfect looking goodies which always look absolutely fierce when I see them - exactly the sort of make-up that I love. Having not tried much of theirs before, I was like a kid at Christmas when I was looking through their current Christmas range. With some seriously seductive looking sets this Christmas, I struggled to whittle it down to my favourite, but I finally settled on the Chisel and Glow Gift Set.

Christmas Perfume Pick - Michael Buble By Invitation Holiday Gift Set

*This is a sponsored feature*

When it comes to perfume, I'm as picky as they come. I also like to think that I'm a bit of a perfume snob - someone who doesn't fall into fad's, or jump on the band-wagon when it comes to new releases. As a result I'm incredibly loyal to the perfumes I find and love - because they're quite few and far between. I'll happily try new ones out, giving them a good go, but there aren't many I'll repurchase or recommend to my friends. With Christmas seeing women all over the country gifted with perfume from their partners, friends and families, all purchased with the hope that they'll love it, I wanted to stick my hand in the air, raise my voice and recommend the Michael Buble By Invitation Holiday Set as the perfume gift to give this Christmas. And as a self confessed perfume snob, there's so many reason why this set is the one I recommend...

Mac Nutcracker Sweet Holiday Collection

Oh how excited I've been to write this post! I've always been a huge MAC fan, and their recent limited edition collections have been pretty impressive to say the least. Personal favourites this past year include the Ellie Goulding Collaboration and the Vibe Tribe collection, both of which are firm favourites in my make-up bag. However the MAC collection to beat all others has arrived - it's the Nutcracker Sweet Holiday Collection, and I am in love with it all.

Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette

This year has been the year of the eyeshadow palettes. Brands have absolutely knocked it out of the park when it comes to their eyeshadow palettes this year, and I for one am loving it! Eyeshadow palettes are probably my favourite piece of make-up. Bar none. I love them. All. I love them all. So this year has seen my collection grow multiple times over with the arrival of some seriously outstanding palettes. One of which is the Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette.

Christmas Gifts - Top 5 Under £5

Christmas can be an expensive time of year, and over the years as a single mum, I've learnt how to be a little bit more frugal. The joy of finding bargain gifts now motivates me with some of my Christmas shopping and I pride myself on finding a few select gifts that don't break the bank, but still make great pressies. So if you're looking for gifts that won't blow the budget, then hopefully you'll appreciate my top five picks - all of which are under £5 this Christmas.

Christmas With Bombay Duck

With Christmas quite literally around the corner, now is the time to get your gift buying into full swing. There's always a few people you've missed off the list, an extra teaching assistant to buy for at your child's school or a another Secret Santa gift to buy. (Please tell me it's not just me that this happens to?!) Just because Christmas is now within reach, doesn't mean your gifts of choice need to be rushed, questionable decisions that you're not quite sure if the recipient will enjoy. An Introduction To Zoeva Palettes and Brushes

Zoeva are a make-up brand I've been meaning to try properly for ages. I have tried their lipstick before, but other than that, I'm a total newbie. Their beautiful eyeshadow palettes always seem to pop up on my Instagram feed, and so I've been wanting to try out more from them for a while. Not just that, but their brush sets looked fantastic too, and I'm always looking for new make-up brushes - because a girl can never have too many right?

Store Your Make-Up With Beautify - And Competition!

For absolutely AGES I've needed a proper way to store my make-up. The nature of beauty blogging means that my office and bedroom are always covered in make-up and skincare products. In fact, you'll probably find make-up dotted around every room in my house. And I'm fully addicted to it too, and can't resist buying more to try out. #SorryNotSorry The worst part though is that I have this bad habit of touching up my make-up infront of the floor length mirror at the side of my bed - and then leaving my make-up scattered across the floor in front of it. Which wasn't a problem until my boyfriend moved in and one-too-many-times would accidentally stand on my beloved liquid lipsticks and eyeshadows. Totally my fault, but for the sake of co-habiting bliss, it was time to get some proper make-up storage...

Making Memories with Photobox

As you know, I went on the trip of a lifetime to New York in the summer. (You can read my travel diary here.) I have always wanted to go to The Big Apple and it had been top of my Bucket List for years. After one too many diasters this year, I took the plunge and booked the trip - and it was by far the best trip I've ever been on. I had the best week of my life, and I've been well and truly bitten by the New York bug...I can't wait to go back already! I regularly sit and look through my photos and remind myself of everything I loved about that week, so I got to thinking about better ways I could preserve my memories. Which is where Photobox come in...

Kiko Milano Gets Festive

I've been loving Kiko Milano this year and when I saw their Holiday 2016 Collection I was pretty obsessed from the get-go. Mostly because the packaging is just so festive - the red vibes and Christmas colours are sure to get you in the festive mood, and the products themselves are really cute too. It's a win/win range for Christmas.

Too Faced Christmas Collection 2016 - Grande Hotel Cafe

Never before has a Christmas collection made me quite this excited...To be fair, pretty much all of the Too Faced collections make me excited. I've never been disappointed with their products and have a collection I'm pretty proud of. So when I saw that the theme of their Christmas 2016 collection was called 'Christmas in New York' - I knew I'd love it because it doesn't seem like a couple of months since I was in New York on the trip of a lifetime!

A Walk Through My Favourite Jo Malone Scent - Wood Sage & Sea Salt

There are some brands that far surpass class, elegance and sophistication. So high quality are their products that they just stand there, taking pride of place on my dressing table, in front of everything else, strutting their elite stuff on the catwalk of my beauty room. These brands have the ability to stop you in your tracks as you walk past their stores, to lure you towards their displays and convince you to purchase new additions to your collection without a second thought. Such high regard for a brand and it's products doesn't come along very often - in fact we'll all only have one or two of these brands who've never let us down, or who make us feel that tingle of class and elegance when we own their products.

For me, one of those brands is Jo Malone.

Studio 10 Does Christmas

Studio 10 are a brand I was introduced to earlier this year and I've been a big advocate of their products since. Innovative, a bit different from everything else, as well as high performing, I'm always excited to try more of their range. So when I saw that they were launching some new products for Christmas, I was very excited to give them a go. I'm a sucker for a good Christmas set!

Christmas with Dermalogica

Dermalogica have been a brand I've relied on multiple times over the years. I've gone through skin phases that have needed really targeted skincare - from adult blemish breakouts, constantly oily skin and of course, the post pregnancy skin issues after having my son. No matter what the skin complaint, Dermalogica can be relied on to have a range that works to combat and overcome any manner of problem. Which is why their Christmas collection is perfect for everyone - you're guaranteed to find something that will suit you with their range of Gift Sets this year.

13 Steps To Preparing For Party Season

Christmas and winter doesn't just bring the prospect of snow, a mountain of mince pies and a tree filled with lights and baubles. No, it also brings party season! Between the work's Christmas party, the annual Christmas meals with friends and the after works drinks (that don't end until 2pm) - well, party season is pure fun and games. But it really can take it's toll on our skin. I'm all for that extra glass (or bottle) of bubbles during party season but between that, the late nights, and the lack of sleep...well party season can take it's toll. So to avoid the fun backfiring, there are some great ways to get party ready in no time at all.

Thierry Mugler Alien Christmas Coffret

It's no secret that Thierry Mugler is one of my favourite perfume brands, with Alien being my daily signature scent. I was absolutely over the moon this year when they finally released a matching scented candle, that meant my home smelt divine and perfectly like my favourite perfume. So naturally the Christmas selection of Alien gifts was always going to be excitedly recieved. And this was never more true than when Santa dropped of the Thierry Mugler Alien Christmas Coffret a tad early this year.

4 Steps To Winter Eyes With Estee Lauder

It barely seems like two minutes ago that I was working through my autumn eye looks, and here I am with my winter take on all things eyes! Winter is a whole new kettle of fish because it's... *leans closer* PARTY SEASON! Not just that, but colder weather means it's once again time to mix up the colours I wear on my lids, and generally go for a slight variation on the previous few months worth of eye make-up. And I LOVE changing things up.

My 2016 Holy Grail Product - La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo Unifiant

This year I've been so lucky to have tried a lot of wonderful new beauty products. I've tried all sorts from skincare to make-up and everything in-between. I've found some great new products that have found their way into my everyday make-up bag and become staples in my routine. I've also naturally found some one-trick-wonders that were great for a short time, or would be great for other skin types or tones... It's been an amazing year for new beauty discoveries. Which is brilliant in every way except for finding that single product that sticks out above all the others to become the one I wanted to class as my new Holy Grail for 2016.

Christmas Gifts For All The Family With Philips

When it comes to Christmas gifts, there's always something technical making the wish list. Between Mum, Dad, Granny and the kids there's no shortage of electricals being requested from good old Santa, and this year is no different. Especially in my house. Mostly because you can't go wrong with something for personal styling or similar - everyone needs it, most people want it and you're guaranteed to give a gift that will get used rather than sit in an unopened box for six months.

Back To Basics - With The Naked Ultimate Basics Palette

When it comes to eye shadows I'm not a less-is-more kinda gal. I love sparkle, shimmer, glitzy and something that makes my lids stand out. I use matte shades in the crease, as my transition shade and lightly dusted  across my eyes before I coat with my 'top layer' of something more shimmery as a final step. Matte colours are the base and the foundation for my eye looks, kinda like the glue that holds the whole thing together. So I have a lot of matte shades on the go, for perfectly matching crease and transition shades, and creating that elusive perfectly blended smokey eye.

A bit like being thrown in at the deep end, it's a sink or swim moment. So when this gorgeous metallic package landed on my doorstep from Rimmel recently and scattered nine new lipsticks across my desk, well, I knew I was in for a lip-smacking treat while trying them all out. My Top 5 Mascara Picks

I've tried so many mascara brands that it's been tough to narrow down, but these are my top five picks for getting lashes that look better than falsies and give you that girlie flutter without reaching for the glue.

Love Smokey Eyes? Now There's Smokey Lips!

I am an avid fan of smokey eyes. I love the sultry blended look of a good smokey eye and the classic and deep look that it brings. Even when I go for the more neutral or 'barely-there' shades on my lids, I still revert back to a deeper crease colour to carry off the smokey look. What can I say? It's my favourite style to wear.

Earlier this year I was introduced to Kiko Milano for the first time, and it was the start of a beautiful friendship. As in: we're friends and they now regularly help me to beautify myself! Trying their products for the first time was something I put off for too long, and since using their Trend Collection, I've been happily indulging in other bits and pieces of theirs along the way. Most recently, and excitingly the Limited Edition, Neo Noir collection.

Totally Cute Right? My Thoughts On The Latest Too Faced Palette

I tried to think of a fancy intro for this post, something that expresses how much I adore Too Faced products, particularly their eyeshadow palettes. But I was coming up trumps, because you all know how much I swear by their shadows - I rave about them on social media all the time. Their palettes are some of my all time favourites and I'm first in line when there's a cute new set available. Too Faced manage to make everything about their brand fun, quirky, cute and extremely girly. Which I guess is why I own, or have tried, almost every Too Faced product there is. No lie.

Getting Thicker Hair With Bumble & Bumble Thickening Collection

Earlier this year I made the decision to go for the chop. I cut off my long hair in favour of a short and classy bob. A decision I have made before, as it's a style that I love. I love my hair when it's short, and I kept religious appointments with my hairdresser every 5-6 weeks to keep the style looking fresh and well maintained. However I seem to have fallen into the next stage of my style craving, and I'm now ready to grow my hair back. (I do this every time - short/long/short/long etc.) Bring me back the long locks!

When it comes to beauty brands, there's a few I class as 'elite'. So well regarded are they, so high performing are their products, that make-up artists and stars rave about their results. So top level that they take things one step further, every time. There's only a few I class as elite, but one of them is Charlotte Tilbury.

Estee Lauder New Revitalizing Supreme + Collection

Skincare gets more essential with age. Don't misunderstand me, it's important all of the time, but it's more important as you get older. Those two-nights-in-a-row partying start to take their toll, and not only do we take longer to bounce back from things, but so does our skin. As I'm edging closer to thirty, I'm noticing my skin shows signs of stress, illness and generally doesn't take much to look a little worse-for-wear. Gone are the days of eating junk food, nights out and doing nothing for my skin but remove make-up with a wet-wipe. Nope, nowadays I actually need to invest in good skincare to keep my skin looking it's best.

Showstopping Scents - Thierry Mugler Angel Muse Perfume

If ever I'm asked what my all time favourite perfume is, my answer will forever be the same. My trademark scent, the smell my friends and family always associate with me, and the one bottle of perfume that is always found on my dressing table... Thierry Mugler Alien. Because of this, I'm always one to recommend the Mugler perfumes. They're strong, sultry and musky, and they tick every box for me when it comes to a scent. So when I was given the opportunity to try the brand new Angel Muse, I absolutely jumped at the chance.

World Duty Free In-Store Experience

When it comes to going on holiday, things don't really start for me until I hit World Duty Free. It's only when I'm immersed in perfume, make-up, chocolates and of course, the odd bottle of Moet...it's only then do I truly get in the holiday spirit. I spend longer in World Duty Free than in any other place at the airport. I'll eat before I arrive, pick my reading material in advance and happily spend the entire time waiting for my flight mooching around the shop and treating myself to the beauty essentials I can't miss out on, because quite frankly, tax free make-up? It's a beauty lovers dream. Throw in the fact that World Duty Free sell spirits, chocolate, food, handbags, jewellery and pretty much everything else, and well, you're going to be a happy bunny whatever your treat of choice.

It's that time of year - the leaves are starting to change colour, the evenings are drawing in and the sunshine is just about preparing to say it's goodbyes for this year. It can only mean one thing...autumn is right round the corner. For me that means fluffy socks, slippers, knitted blankets and cosy nights in with a big mug of tea and lots of candles. I'm a fully fledged autumn lover. It also means that I start to mix up my daily make-up look, in favour of new autumnal looks in warm and golden shades.
